The rooms were clean and well equipped except the Chromecast function on the TVs didn't work for us limiting us to just a small handful of English-speaking channels (mostly news stations like CNN). Not a big deal since we weren't traveling to watch TV, but it would have been nice to be able to unwind to a movie on Netflix instead of having to face the real world via listening to the news. We were able to sleep well in the beds and the curtains blocked most of the light nicely so we didn't wake up at 5am every morning. There was a decent restaurant but avoid the pricier "dry aged" steaks if you are used to fine American steakhouses. The dry aged steak lacked flavor and could be more tender but was cooked to the right temp. There's a nice coffee shop attached with friendly service, good coffee, and even alcoholic beverages to enjoy in the afternoon or evenings. There's a rooftop bar on the top floor although we struggled a bit figuring out how to get to it. We tried to go to the top from the 5th floor, but it doesn't work that way. You need to go to the first floor then the far-right elevator only can take you up to where the rooftop bar is. This bar is nice with a great view, but a bit pricey so we only sprung for two rounds. We spent most of our time outside of our room in the central hotel bar near the lobby. The bar manager and staff were super friendly and took great care of us during our stay. We'd definitely be back - but wish the hotel was a little closer to the downtown area of Munich.

The front desk staff was equally as annoyed and rude that I would have a question. I truly never experienced anything like this and I travel more then half the year. The sad part is, when I was checking in- I saw him chatting happily with another male guest but was rude to me and my girlfriend. This hotel is expensive and I recommend staying somewhere else.

I'm currently waiting for my room to be changed. It sounds like I'm in the middle of a wind tunnel. Crazy loud. It only stops if you open the balcony door but it's cold so that's not happening. This was my final chance for this hotel. Marriotts are not common in Munich so not a big selection and they are in awkward areas.

It has been through many…read morechanges and improvement over the years, to my liking, including when Marriott acquired the Sheraton brand. My last stay prior to this was before COVID in 2019. It was fantastic. They had a nice club lounge for elite BonVoy members, and the concierge service was great. Fast forward to this year in November and it seemed like I was in a parallel universe. Everything looked the same, but was not. When checking in, they asked if I wanted breakfast instead of 500 BonVoy points. I told them I would take the points, since I have access to the lounge. She then said, "We no longer have the lounge, since Marriott downgraded this to a three star Four Points Sheraton." Strike ONE! I did manage to get an upgraded room, and this is where it gets creepy. For many years, they always seemed to put me in the exact same room. Not room type, but exact room number as the previous year. I never thought anything of it, but I had not been in that room for a while, since my previous stays were upgraded to a suite. When I entered the room, there was de ja vu. They put me in the exact room I used to stay in all the time over 10 years ago. It was like going back in time. Nothing changed, other than the lights actually worked this time. I went to settle in, and noticed I forgot to ask for an electrical adapter/convertor for the plug. I went down stairs, asked for one, and she said, "We don't loan them out anymore, but you can purchase one for 10 Euros." Strike TWO! One part of this property, I really do enjoy is the balcony overlooking the city. I like drinking a coffee in the morning on the balcony and watching the sun rise along the Alps as well as a nice night cap in the evening overlooking the city lights. All of that was ruined this trip, because my room neighbors smoked every morning and evening on their balcony right next to me. Not only was this irritating outside, I liked to leave my balcony door open to get some fresh air in the room, but instead had it filled with smoke. I complained to the staff, but nothing was done. Last I checked, smoke free property, includes balcony. But it is Europe and the smokers here don't care about the rules. Strike THREE! I have to admit, there as one improvement since my last stay. ONE! The mini fridge was empty, like all Marriott hotels. That was nice, as before it was filled with mini bar stuff, and I had to always ask them to empty it. I like this, since there is a very nice grocery store called REWE (see my review), just a block from the hotel, with cheap alcohol. Why pay 5X at the hotel? So, one night I decide to make a cocktail for the evening after a long day at the trade show. I purchased a decent bottle of vodka for only 8 Euro, and headed to the hotel. Knowing they don't have concierge service, I asked the front desk for bucket of ice, since they no longer have buckets in the room. They directed me the bar, where the bar server promptly replied, "Sure, that will be 2 Euro." At this point, I was done with being upset. I had already paid for an adapter, my breakfast (with points), and now ice. Strike FOUR! I have to say the breakfast wasn't bad (see photo), and the shower was much improved. I remember the water pressure being horrible last time. This time it was great. The Sauna, Gym, and Swimming pool are still fantastic. Thank goodness. I though I would have to pay extra for that. The dry Sauna is great, but for those who are not aware of German customs, be prepared. You can only enter the sauna naked, with a towel and it is Co-Ed. So, for you bashful types, take note. Ultimately, I plan to stay at the Westin next time. It is across the street, much nicer, has a lounge, concierge service, great Paulaner Brew House in the basement and much more. The price is a little more, but worth it. It doesn't have a balcony, but I can't say I will miss that, considering I didn't enjoy the smoke part of it this year. If I had know, I would have stayed at the Westin this trip, but all things considered, I was able to live through it. And being able to share this review for others that might have this Sheraton as their mainstay, and give them advanced notice to reconsider, makes it worth it. Parting is such sweet sorrow, but I am planning to be back in my universe next trip to Munich.

When we arrived, tired in the middle of the night, the woman at the desk was surly, handing us our key card, and pointing at the elevator. It was winter and we had been on a long train to get there. We discovered paw prints leading to the bed. At least we hoped they were paw prints. They were a white substance that was smeared in places. We didn't take our socks off. I called down to the desk person who said she would look into it later. Next morning, with lights on throughout room, we had another surprise. There was a dark brown substance smeared and then dried in some places on the wooden cabinet enclosing the heater. At breakfast, another female employee said she would consult her colleague about it and the paw prints after we left for the day. After breakfast, we met the maid coming out of the room next door so I thought I'd notify her of the issues. She said it wasn't her doing, that it was a filthy, filthy room, and told me to ask for the first floor, I.e. change our quiet room for street side, where the rest of the guests were staying. She looked at the stains and said that her colleague would have to deal with them. He came in and looked at the paw prints, declaring them not really a stain. He decided we should move too. I told him we didn't want to move since we were leaving the next day. He said there was nothing he could do. As we were leaving for the day, I notified the desk clerk again that we wished to stay in the room, but could they please just clean it? When we came back, the room was clean-- no paw prints, no mystery brown ooze. That evening, we met one nice employee: a young man who asked if we'd like tea or a coffee. We said we didn't know they had tea or coffee. He said they provide it free to guests afternoons and evenings. He was quite pleasant, and the proximity to train station is convenient. However, the train goes right by Marienplatz too and the hotels are quite nice, at least they aren't in the middle of a prostitution center. If you're dead set on being close to the bahnhof, go with the Royal Hotel. The owner is great and thoughtful. Ask for a quiet room though. If you're looking for a non-smoking hotel, the Royal is better too. City Hotel had smoke on a non-smoking floor.

I loved my stay at this hotel!…read more Location: When you pull up to the hotel, you might notice the gentleman's clubs and gambling houses but honestly, I never felt unsafe walking to and from the hotel at any hour of the day. The location is extremely close, less than 5 minutes walking to Munich Central Train Station. About a 20 minute walk to Marienplatz. Room: We showed up a little early but got lucky with an early check-in since they finished cleaning our room early. It was really clean! Not a single suspect hair leftover that I could see. Everything in the mini-fridge is complimentary. There was still and sparking water, beer, cola, and either apple or orange juice. The room was also stocked with Ronnefeldt brand tea (German made and the same they have at breakfast) and coffee. There were also gummies left on the pillow. We had two twin beds and our room was configured so these were tucked back into an alcove which was nice and snug. The mattresses and duvets were pretty amazing. Insanely comfortable. The duvet was incredibly warming, so much so that we were able to leave the window open a smidge in the winter. All of the lights in the room can be controlled by the bed. The bathroom toiletries were mostly of the Rituals brand which smelled great. A rainfall showerhead and handheld shower were available. There was even a heated towel rack! The room was big enough for us to have both our suitcases open and still walk around comfortably. Front-Desk: The front-desk staff were all very helpful. They helped us map out routes to points of interest, deciphering our tickets and coordinating with our tour groups, and helped us with getting supplies when we ran out (tissue and water when it wasn't restocked). There was usually fruit (either apples or oranges) available at the front-desk. Sometimes there were chocolates. Breakfast: The breakfast staff were realllly amazing. A special shoutout to Merita (I hope the spelling is correct)! I think she managed the breakfast service. She was so friendly and after a few days remembered my coffee order! She always made my latte with a chocolate stencil which made it extra special. It was really chaotic in the mornings with everyone coming and going, but she managed to keep the buffet stocked and spotless. The actual breakfast itself was actually very good for a free breakfast. The menu changes a tiny bit each day but you'll find a hot food section with eggs and protein, granola and yogurt bar area, charcuterie area, and pastry area. The croissants were amazing! Honestly better than any I've had in Canada. The pretzels they had were also a sleeper pick. They managed to be soft even though they kinda just hung out there. I'd 100% recommend this hotel and definitely stay here again for my next trip!

A single staff member manned the desk when I walked in and he continued talking on the telephone for many minutes before finally hanging up to check me in. This annoyance was my first impression of the hotel but thankfully things mostly got better from that point. My room on the sixth floor was spacious and included a kitchenette. The mini fridge contained still and sparkling water, orange juice, Coca Cola and a beer, all gratis. The room was plenty warm and the window opened completely such that I was able to climb out and see the city's snow-covered roof tops. That was probably my favourite bit about my stay at the Schiller 5. The wifi, while free, was not intuitive to connect to and fairly slow. The neighbourhood is a touch seedy (strip clubs, sex shops and the like line the street) but it is very central and if you arrive late in the evening there are still plenty of quick options for food. All told, Schiller 5 was solid enough for me to consider returning. And if you can get it for under €100/night, it's good value too.
