Only thing good about this place is the service. We were here for a work corporate event and it was so bad. Food was not good and portion size was so small. Play-a-Round Golf is a great place for all ages and levels of play. It was such a fun way to spend a few hours. We played on a "real" course and some others play skeet games and put put in another area bext to us. We brought sandwiches and enjoyed some light snacks that they sell there. The gentleman who works there is a real gem. He was very patient and helpful with my Newbee teenager "golfers". He showed them some simple techniques which was super helpful. He went above and beyond to make everyone feel successful. I can't wait to go back for more golf fun. I think this place would be a great spot for a birthday party, family reunion bachelor party etc. Bring your own beer and sandwiches and have a great round of easy indoor golf. read more

Just called. The simulator rate is 47.50 per hour weekdays. I see the 37/hour review way on top and thought this would help others.

Be very careful. The owner, Steve, acted like a nice guy and told us to hit a few balls as this was our first time. When we checked out we were informed that he charged us for an extra 30 minutes without telling us ahead of time. When we told the attendant that this was not right, Steve sat nearby and would not speak with us so we paid. Watch your time and don't get fooled thinking that Steve is a nice friendly host. read more

I came across Play-a-Round Golf one night while eating dinner with Kristine and my dad at Cheeburger Cheeburger (also worth checking out!). It seemed like a novel concept, and it happened to be their grand opening. They let us play around (hardy har har) and I had a great time. Kristine got me a gift card as a present which I finally got to use about a month ago on a rainy Friday night. They accept tee times, although you don't need them and can just walk in. There are 3 sections of booths, allowing for private parties and public walk-ons. They charge you by the hour, no matter how many people are in the party. A full round will take about an hour per person. The goods: -It's great for winter, rainy or night time golfing in a climate controlled place. -Their systems gives you swing stats such as club head speed, launch angle and so forth (which means nothing to an amateur like me, but it's still cool to see for every swing) -You can set up a profile that will email you stats and such each time you go in -You can play a variety of courses around the world, and even some that don't really exist. They even have a simulation for the infamous 18 holes (http://www.infamousgolfholes.com/) The bad: -While it's fun, it's no substitute for the real thing. Every lie is perfect, and there are no hills that can be simulated. -Putting is not really realistic. Sure, you can get used to it on their system, and they are set up to give you gimmes inside 5 feet. But it certainly won't count for practice when it comes to the real deal. -Just like driving range mats, the tees are interchangeable but limited to the few heights they have in stock. This makes it very difficult to find that right tee for you...plus would probably get tiresome if you have a group that wants different height tees. -Exercise. Normally most people like golf for the walking and being outdoors. This place is mainly for people to practice your swing and have a little fun while doing it. Sure, you are getting a little exercise swinging the club. But it doesn't match walking a course. Overall, it's a great time and I will certainly be going back with a few golfing buddies. For those that want to know, I played Pebble Beach and shot a 90...and I'm certain that's what I would have if I played it in real life :) read more

Steve (father) and Steve (son) are two of the kindest people you will meet. Their service is always top notch. As many others have already stated, nothing is going to replace the real thing. These monitors, however, get closest to the yardages I have in real life. I've been to other places and nothing is more frustrating than not knowing your distances anymore due to the inconsistencies of the machine. I do agree putting is touch and go. My suggestion is (like others) don't waste your time and just take the gimmes. Hard to determine break and speed from a video screen. This is just one of the pitfalls of simulator golf, however. It's like this everywhere. Indoor golf is pricey everywhere. This place is about on par with others. read more

It doesn't matter where you play, indoor golf simulators are expensive. An hour can cost as much as a round at some courses. Nothing will ever replace the real thing but getting some swings in during the winter can help you be ready when spring golf comes around. Steve and Steve, the owners, are always friendly and serviceable. You can tell almost right away they're genuine people. They keep the place clean and in good condition, replacing mats when necessary. BYOB is also a great feature. You can tell they work long hours, especially during the winter. I've never seen anyone other than them and a teaching professional there. It's definitely a family owned facility owned by great people. Perhaps, most importantly to some, their simulators also seem to be as accurate as can be. Some others in the area either seem way too generous or just plain stingy. I found Play-A-Round to be closest to my yardages in real life. read more

This is a good indoor golf simulator experience. It is also a BYOB, which is nice. There are I believe eight simulators between the two levels. There is a lounge, which is called the "Master's Lounge" I believe. The lounge has some tables, chairs, and a flat screen TV with the golf channel on (at least it was on when I was there). There is also a mock bar setting past the cashier with typical drinks (soda, water, & gatorade). At the time I went it was $35 for an hour of play for up to eight heads in one simulator. They have discounts for larger hour purchases. A friend of mine and myself went there for two hours and we tried playing St. Andrews Old Course. It didn't go particularly well to be honest because there are some downfalls to simulating a golf course. Short game shots do not always register the way you expect them to, and that's if they register at all. A 60 degree wedge will simply go too high too fast for the system to pick it up, or you'll strike the ceiling before you hit the screen. So you have to learn to play the system kind of like playing a Playstation or something. It's not 100% realistic. The other downfall is putting. Don't waste your time because that's all you'll do is waste your time. There is no depth perception for putting and thankfully they have a gimme system (from 12 feet to 3 feet I believe) or a system where it's an automatic two-putt. Do the two-putt and don't bother putting. We wasted so much time putting I was completely hating it by the end. So don't putt. Focus on your irons and your tee shots because that's where the value of the system comes in to play. There is also the option of using it as a driving range. I would highly recommend using it for this primarily because of the feedback you receive on each shot. It will tell you launch angles, path angles, angle of attack, side spin, back spin, and so on. Every bit of information you need it tells you so you can fix your screwed up swing. The only piece of information that is not going to be available is what was your club face doing when you hit the ball and where on the face did you hit the ball. These are valuable, but you can figure it out with enough shots. If your shot goes wildly right then you either had a path angle way too far from the left or your face was wide open at impact. If it goes wildly left then pretty much the opposite is usually the case. It takes some knowledge of golf mechanics to use the information provided and turn it into something useful, so they do have a pro (maybe more than one?) who works there and offers lessons. I suspect a lot of people will need that help, otherwise they're just hitting a ton of shots into a screen with no real idea as to why they landed three fairways right. The overall experience was very good and the environment is casual. You have to get used to people talking a lot and hearing other people's shots while you're focusing. It actually might help your mental game to be able to tune that stuff out. I definitely recommend this considering there's about a foot of snow on the ground and there is probably going to be a half inch of ice on the ground within the next week (at the time of writing of course). I did specify that this is probably not good for kids because there might be the occasional off-color comment and there will be people drinking sometimes. read more

Good place to golf (indoors) and never lose a golf ball...you get to choose several of the top courses, so you get to play where the pros play (i.e. where poor amateurs like me would never get to play on). The menu on the screen is relatively easy to follow, so if you need to take a fourth mulligan. Staff is very nice; big screen TV is there to watch the latest tournament or any other sport. Price per hour seems very fair. If you like golf but don't play much, this is your place. read more

I spent $500 on 5 hours of instruction. This proved to be a waste of money. My irons and driver are worse than they have ever been. Take your performance on a simulator with a grain of salt. If you are desperate to hit in the winter, go for it. I left after 5 lessons with the following instructions: swing inside out on iron and drives, swing inside-in for chips. I was not given any drills to help facilitate and inside-out swing. Jeff's response when I asked about drills was, "there really aren't any good drills for this." Save your money for outdoor lessons and range time. The simulator, while cool, is little more than a video game. read more

Went there last night with a buddy. Looking to try out a new way of playing golf while the weather starts to get cold and the days are short. Steve was a great host and it was very easy and self explanatory for the setup. Tons of famous courses to play, and the simulator can be used as a range as well. Putting is a little touch and go, but the simulator lets you set up for auto-gimmes within a certain range, which is the way we played. Overall, while it is not the same as the outdoor golf experience, I think it is about as good as you can get. And the service was really first rate. read more

Really neat place and it's BYO. But there prices are very steep here. I think if they lowered there prices by 10 bucks an hour they would be more busy. It's always dead in here!!! I think they need to think of some promotional stuff to get people in. read more

I have been going here since it opened. Recent newer machines have made it better than ever. It is great practice, and now they have a new teaching pro on staff who is not only great at lessons, but also wanders around and gives "tips." The owners and staff are fantastic. It's also a fun way to "play" courses you might otherwise not. read more
