Wow. Fantastic service…read more Dude was super patient w me. I have been scouring every website, store, boutique, online venture etc. To find a new pair of fat-tongued Vans. Vans has not made a pair of these in over 10 years. I know this because that's how old my Vans are. They are the most fabulous shoes ever and despite being worn to stenchiness and holiness, I will still keep wearing them because it appears I have no choice. 2 years ago I got pretty fed up of the search and I even wrote Vans customer service an email. In it I explained I had not bought a pair of sneakers that weren't Vans in over 15 years and that ever since I was 17 and buying my own shoes I always bought Vans. I explained that I had fallen in love with a particular model of theirs that has since been discontinued and included a photo of the last pair I was able to find (also with much difficulty) which were my very used pair of Vans. I explained that the new/old preppy model was not at all the skater Vans I fell in love with. I explained that i get stopped on the streets ALL THE TIME to ask where I got my shoes by all ages and races of ppl (well over a hundred by now). I told them I was a very loyal customer who never ever wanted anything but Vans and told them I would pay for them to just custom make me the pair i included in the photo. No response. Ouch. None whatsoever...not even the automated we value ur business crap email. So I wandered into Boutique Outlaw just trying to kill time...not expecting to find my fat-tongued Vans... Which I didn't. But the dude at the counter listened to my tale and genuinely empathized with me....and once I showed him a pic of the infamous Vans he even sympathized with me I think. He tried his best to help, flipping through pages of catalogs just trying to help me find the actual name of that particular brand...no success. Didn't even ask him to do that ...he just did cuz he wanted to help. So I browsed the rest of the options and Osiris had 2 models of exactly that shoe: the fat-tongued skater shoes...I was going to cave and finally buy another brand of shoe. Unfortunately, Osiris doesn't make shoes in my itty-bitty foot size, and after browsing the kids section I settled on a not fat-tongued model of DCs because they were still really sick. No pressure from the sales dude at all...just really helpful the whole time. Brought out 3 different sizes just to make sure we found my proper child size lol. Anywoot this is a sad tale I know but dude guy was awesome and made my very painful moment of having to buy not-Vans much easier.

This store taught me that all sneakers are not created equal. After years of running and training…read morein whatever was in my size on the clearance rack at Winners, I had a rip roaring case of plantar fasciitis from wearing the wrong shoes. I'm now on my fourth pair of shoes from the Running Room and have gotten great service every time I've gone in. Knowledgeable and friendly staff will take the time to help you find the right shoe. Definitely worth spending a little extra money if you run on a regular basis. Plenty of other running gear of all sorts as well for whatever you may need. They have a running club that you can join for free too. I've gone out with them a few times and they were super nice and considerate of runners of all levels.

This store totally deserves the much-coveted Yelp 5-star rating! It is one of the few stores where…read morethe staff here genuinely, truly aims to please. If they don't have something you want, they will happily order it for you. The owner, Chris, is a runner himself (he recently returned from a Seattle marathon, whereas I was visiting Montreal from Seattle, so we chatted about runs in our respective cities). He knows his stuff - and he also knows the store is competing for business with online retailers. He said he does what he can to stand apart from other stores, to make the customer's experience a stellar one, to get what the customer wants and make the customer happy. After purchase, if the customer is displeased in any way, he WANTS the customer to return the item/s, and he truly wants to know what didn't work out, so he can follow up with the manufacturer or distributor or buyer for the store. There's no pressure to buy anything when you visit here. You can still get info on local runs and events, or the product line, or techniques or training strategies. The lady who works here, with Chris, are happy to oblige. I really appreciated the lack of pressure to purchase anything when I initially visited the store. As it turned out, I visited a few times, only buying stuff on my last visit (I got a fabulous Quebec running shirt, and my mom got a running belt). They have two runs a week where they invite anyone to join them: Wednesdays at 6pm and Sunday mornings at 8:30am. Despite this being a smaller-sized store, they still pack in good variety of merchandise, too, and they are quite knowledgeable about their product lines. All in all, this is really a wonderful store for those who run (or walk).
