My boy cries when I leave him, but they always send me pictures showing that he is fine right after I leave and they send them throughout the day of activities they're doing. Honestly such a terrible daycare. My son always got hurt and worst of all he was neglected..... on multiple occasions I picked him up with a full pamper usually full of #2 and once it was even all up his back that when he ran to give me a hog it got on me. I was so upset and I feel as though this is normal for them. He also was not allowed to bring juice in his bottle from home or I would get in trouble for it. They stated "oh no, only water is allowed here we don't do juice or tea" I was confused by why I received such attitude and I was hoping it would change. I also want to add how all parents would receive photos of their children ONLY IF the teacher liked that student. Leaving the other ones behind the scenes aka my son was always left out. They refused to send pics like they promised so I just stopped asking..... one day he busted his lip really bad and they tried to down play it and I was furious bc they admitted that they bluntly weren't watching him and he hit himself on the turf. The communication sucks between the "Owner" who lives inVirginia btw and the co-owner (or what ever Sherry is) and I was treated like over all shot because of their own mistakes. They don't give a damn about the kids this childcare facility is a joke. Oh and it takes place in a run down church......that has mesh gates and they let the TODDLERS open the baby gates and run into the parking lots. I've had to stop a few from escaping and cars are constantly coming in to pick up their children. This place is not safe. Choose any other place. read more

Sorry but this is going to be a long one. We were first time daycare users and were not prepared for how poorly this place turned out to be, so I mostly just want to inform others thinking of going here. We were waitlisted at our first choice and were having issues finding other openings due to the increase in infant care demand. Shelly was very friendly and reassuring on the phone and I was very relieved to finally find an opening. But on the visit, things went a little weird. I did my due diligence and checked the daycare's records and noticed reviews were all over the place so decided to take the bad ones with a grain of salt. When I inquired about a few citations and some things that didn't add up, you could tell it made the her uncomfortable and she deflected and got a little catty instead of answering. When inquiring about security camera's, she responded that they are not allowed if parents don't consent; which is completely inaccurate. When I pointed this out, she stated that, what if she was viewing the footage at her house and had a pedophile over doing work on the home that was able to see the footage? What then? (Um... why do you have a pedophile over?) I figured, maybe she was just awkward and besides, the staff seemed friendly and seemed to like children. I'll admit, it was poor judgement on my part and we were in immediate need for childcare. The place is run very much like a poorly run home daycare and besides the main teachers, the turnaround seems very high (there were different people every couple of weeks so we never really learned their names). It sounded like staff are mostly friends of friends or someone related to the family. The staff are mostly young and inexperienced, and while I understand they are learning (and absolutely no fault of their own), it doesn't seem like anyone is actively teaching them how to care for the infants or even checking what they are doing. The care is done on the fly with very little coordination and infants are left to fend for their own. Notes are written on a whiteboard for each child but are rarely referenced. They have a paper summary for each child everyday, but when I asked for clarification a few times, it was brushed off like its not accurate anyways if even filled out and parents don't really look at them. Um, I'm sorry I care about my child? My child was/is a great sleeper, napper and eater, but this was not the case at the daycare. I understand in a different setting, this could be different, which is why I never thought it an issue until we started at her new daycare. Staff sometimes tried to hold her or she was left in the swing for a quick cat nap, but naturally that was not sustainable. My daughter attended Playhouse for about 2 months and up until the very last day she was not napping and eating poorly. The very next day she started at her new daycare and took a glorious nap and ate everything presented to her, and that has been the case since. At pick up, she would always cry and run to me like I had abandoned her in a horrible place. Since we started at the new daycare, she happily greets me and shows me things she was playing with. Night and day. Many times I would notice at pick up that my daughters diaper was hanging on by a thread or put on almost sideways where a whole butt cheek was out. I would immediately have to shower and change her when we got home because the place smelled like a diaper pail that someone tried to cover up by spraying too much perfume on it and she would reek of it. Lastly, some last tid bits: the facility is not secure and anyone can just walk in; they only accept cash or check; staff didn't know how to write up an incident report when another kid scratched mine in the face, half the baby gates aren't properly installed or broken, and check your food and bottle parts because often I was given someone else's stuff. Finding suitable childcare is difficult so I wish everyone the best of luck! read more

I've called 3 different days, I was told they will call me back, the lady took my phone number and they have never reached out. Not looking forward to this place anymore, really sucks when there are desperate parents looking for care. So frustrating!! read more

I have had some anxiety since I'm a first time mom and my 16 month old child's first time in daycare. Can I just say how wonderful Shelly (the owner) has been and very understandable when I ask questions. She has put me at ease when feeling my heart heavy since my son cried on his 3rd day there. Kristina has also been so nice and the other girls that work there they always come get my son at the door and seems so happy to see him. I am so impressed with Shelly, I can't say enough how grateful I am to have found them. I am even more grateful on how Shelly has the time and patience to hear my concerns0 and give me advice. I would not recommend taking your child to this preschool. I am an immigrant and my english is not the best. When I called, the person who picked up did not seem very patient with me. I was a little scared to come see the preschool but I went anyway. The preschool was not very clean. My child gets sick easily, so I was very concerned that the area would not be good for him. I also felt like a lot of attention was on me rather than the kids during my tour. There are many other great preschools in the area! read more

I could not have found a better daycare for my son! The entire staff is friendly and goes over and beyond to care for the children. The children are always happy, clean, playing and having fun every single time I go there. The owner, Shelly is a genuine person and every single staff member has treated me and my son like family. My son's father and I both are beyond thankful we found them. My son has never been so excited to go anywhere. I have never been more comfortable leaving him than I am leaving him in their care. He was non verbal when he started and in less than 8 months he is communicating verbally, counting, knows his ABCs and tons of nursery rhymes. Not an ideal school to go. Teachers usually sitting in the classroom and busy with making up for themselves every morning when you walked in the school, I don't know why teachers are allowed to make up in school, they should get it done at home. No greetings to parents and children, no hugging and caring on crying children, parents will need to walk to teachers and hand over a crying child to teachers. The school allows parents to bring lunch for children, but the teachers will just simply forget to take the lunchbox to your child, it seems like nobody is responsible for that. When you ask them how is your child napping in the afternoon, the teacher will just tell you she went out for lunch and she doesn't know how did your child nap in the afternoon. And trust me you will never be able to find a teacher who remembers how well your child is doing when you pick hem/her up by the end of the day. There is no children-sized potty in the school, children almost have to climb up to the toilet bowl in order to pee pee. Sometimes you will see many children sitting on the floor and watching cartoons from a palm-sized iPad, i don't think children can see it at all. School always give candies and chocolates to children to eat, personally I think it has chocking risk and not healthy to young children to have many candies at this age. Do not send your child here, what a horrible experience! I did a ton of research and went to at least 6 different preschools when I finally settled on Playhouse. I thought I had picked the perfect preschool for my 2 year old. My daughter was fine the first couple days then all of the sudden I noticed a change in her attitude and behavior. She would be exhausted and starving when I picked her up. She would cry from the moment I woke her up and the first thing out of her mouth was "I don't want to go to school mommy". I talked with the Director Lauren and she assured me that it takes some time for kids to get used to the change. Things just got worst from there she would cry all day about how she hated school, her teachers, and the kids, saying they were mean and they hit her. The final straw was when my daughter was bit and my father who was the one that picked her up was not told anything! I went to the school with my daughter showed the teacher the huge bruised bite mark and asked if she was bit. She said "oh yeah another kid wanted her toy and bit her" I asked why my father was not old or why I didn't get an incident report and she said she never got a break all day and had too many kids so she didn't have time. Keep in mind this is after I called 2 times during the day to check on her and I was never told of any of this. I packed up her things right then and told her we would not return. I am skeptical of sending me daughter anywhere now because of this horrible experience! read more
