Plaza de San Sebastián dates to 1508; it is a pretty intersection of roads with large paved area in front of the church, Iglesia de San Sebastián, that serves as a focal point of the square.
The plaza has a Renaissance fountain, the Arch of the Nazarene, and the house of the Bouderé.
Plaza de San Sebastián has a marker on the ground claiming to be the center of Andalusia. Geologically, the Guadalquivir River basin and the Subbética mountain range are what distinguish Andalusia from other regions, and collectively make the region special (without any one spot considered THE special center).
The official geographic center of Andalusia is located in Monturque, a town in the province of Córdoba, Spain. read more
