Fantasilandia: good for all ages and especially first dates. I have been here many times for going…read moreaway parties, birthdays and lazy Sundays, but Fantasilandia is the perfect place to spend your first date (that is, if your date scares easily). Not like Fantasilandia is especially scary, but they have some rides that when you get on, you just aren't quite sure if this might be your last (not trying to be dramatic). However, that is what makes it fun! Plus, unlike other theme parks, they have a lot of activities that don't involve roller coasters. Fantasilandia, or what the Chileans call "filasilandia" (meaning land of long lines) is the perfect place to get to know your date (as you guys can't really move anywhere). You can see how they react under pressure (long lines can be stressful) and once they are finally seated, their reaction to the ride - are they excited? Are they letting loose and enjoying it? Or are they super scared? And if they are scared, this is when you can make a move to try and calm them down by holding their hand (not speaking from experience or anything...). Tip: the best ride to do this is the Evolution...this is 2 straight minutes of pure adrenaline!! However, if you are seriously not into the roller coasters, they have some fun attractions that some might say are even better for a first date. First up on the list is the haunted house: Every time I have come, I look forward to seeing the haunted house because it is something that everyone has recommended however, it has never been open when I have come. It costs 1.500 extra. Here's to hoping that the next time it is open... Monga: without giving too much away, one of my favorite attractions. It is almost like a play of sorts - highly recommend! Last but not least, Tagada: seriously one of the funnest rides. No seat belts needed as they play reggaeton full blast while you are spinning in circles. It might not sound that exhilarating but it is super fun -- recommended to go on with friends or your date and you're guaranteed to have a good laugh. Tips: The Raptor is a serious roller coaster. It's one of the newer attractions in Fantasilandia, but If you are on the smaller end of the spectrum (like me) I recommend being cautious when riding. It has thrown me around more than once and caused both me and my mom (she is smaller than me) to get whiplash. However, don't get me wrong...it is a super thrilling ride!! Come during Halloween! They open up the park at night for the week of Halloween and it makes for a crazy scary adventure! Come on your birthday and you get in free! You can also buy your tickets online cost is $9 mil - important because it gives you extra time to play and less time in line waiting to buy. On that note..come early because you want to take advantage of every second...especially since the lines are long. Go on a cold winters day. There are less people in the park. If it starts raining, they will give you a free entry for another date.

Why the first Tuesday of every month? La Bicicleta Verde supports Critical Mass, the international bikers rights movement, giving both locals and tourists the opportunity to use their bicycles to join the city's cycling activists. This is by far one of the most fun (and free) activities you can do while in Santiago. After you pick up your bike (in exchange of an ID and phone number) you will go to Plaza Italia where you will meet up with hundreds of local cyclists (including baby ciclists as well as dogs! ) there will be a short speech from a representative of Furiosos Ciclistas to get you pumped up and explain the route (the route changes every month) and then you are off! Bikers join along the way, accumulating up to a couple thousand cyclists by the end. During the 1 hour journey throughout Santiago, you will sing, ring your bike bells loud, in unison, while running red lights and in general, disobeying common traffic laws. Thousands of singing cyclists not obeying traffic laws, you say? Don't worry, this outing is VERY safe and the group has a police escort at all times. Just remember to bring a bike light, ask for a helmet from the Bicicleta Verde crew and get ready for a fun night! To warm up, start practicing your Chilean "gritos" now. To get you started, here is one of the chants: "Somos caleta, andamos en bicicleta" Important: If you are feeling like you might be lost at anytime, look out for the green Bicicleta Verde bicycles (they stand out) and you know you are in good company. Also, make sure to stay in a group, as you don't want to speedily crossing a red light by yourself. As you finish, meet up with the Biciverde crew and head back to their office together.
