Called the store to speak with Kim to confirm she will be there as we agreed the other day. She agreed to help me with a product I had purchased earlier from her. What I got was a lady named Francis who then proceeded to get into an argument with me because I simply asked where Kim was. I did not want to drive all the way there if she was not in. She then started to berate me and yell at me over the phone. I asked her if this is how you treat your customers who spend good money in here. She continued to argue with me than hung up on me. This is an interesting store. I discovered it while looking for somewhere to get a surprise for my lady. The reason I say it is interesting is because the store is actually split into two pieces. I'll get more into that in a minute. The store can be kind of difficult to find if you are not paying close attention while driving there. It really doesn't look like the typical establishment in its industry. Its definitely not overly in your face screaming sex. As some have described it, the outside kind of looks campy. The first time I drove by it, I thought it was a patio furniture place. The store is on Hawthorne Blvd but the entrance is actually on a private parking lot in the rear. That is convenient because it removes a lot of the embarassment people have when going to an adult store. Next thing is going into the store. As soon as I walked in, I was greeted by an employee. I looked around and thought I was in the wrong place. It seemed like all lingerie and stuff for women. Not saying that is a bad thing but the worker immediately read the look of confusion on my face and asked me if it was my first time at the store. I responded "Yes." At that point, he told me to walk to a door in front of me and then he buzzed me in to that section of the store. This section is where you find all the goods. There weren't any employees back there but the only exit was the way you came in but past a cash register. They have a display with staff pics for all their favorite goods. They have the usual collection of goods along one side of the back store. Following the walls, they have a wide selection of toys and novelties. They even had a "shower" section which to be honest, I had never seen before. The back store is very well lit in contrast to most of the shadier establishments that cater to this business. While browsing, I could hear one couple giggling at all the stuff for sale. I also heard the employees in the front of the store engaging in witty banter and welcoming other customers that were entering. Their customer service is remarkable. They are very friendly, knowledgeable and welcoming. You don't feel sleezy at all being in there regardless of whether you are just spicing things up or looking for a gag gift. It starts with you wandering into the lingerie area of the store which also has lots of gifts, etc. (check out how inexpensive the nag champa incense is!). Then you go to the other end of the store and voila! It's the adult area which is not too cluttered and well organized by category. The shopping is no pressure, the staff is always friendly, and my favorite part? It's independently family owned and not part of a chain. This place is pretty classy (for an adult toy shop). It doesn't have a seedy storefront with XXX signs. It has palm trees and looks campy. I like this place because it's local, the staff is helpful, and I find some good products most of the time. I don't buy/rent videos so I can't testify to their selection quality, however, I've browsed over some titles and they seem to have a decent variety.
