The…read morebattery light came on in the middle of the mountains, on a friday night, and my wife an I drove as far as we could before the car finally limped to the side of the road. We had road side assistance through our insurance, and my insurance company gave me a list of places that they could tow the vehicle to for repairs. I was advised by both the insurance company and the tow truck driver to have it towed to PEP boys. As somebody who works in the auto industry, I cringed at the thought of taking it to PEP boys, big chains tend to be "wham, bam, thank you for the money," and I wanted to avoid that, so I started googling the different options. Being in the mountains of PA, some of these places were literally peoples home garages, and again this didn't seem like a ideal place to get my car fixed (not that a lexus is difficult to work) but I wanted a reputable shop with a wide range of experience. The fifth google search popped up Edwards Auto Repair, from the pictures I could see it was at least a 4 bay shop that also performed state inspections. I thought to myself, "to have 4 bays in the mountains, they must be doing a decent volume work," Ill give them a shot. It was the best decision ever. The owner, Ed, was very easy to work with. They took great care of the vehicle and went out of their way to make it easy for me to come and pick it up. Allowing me to pay over the phone, storing the vehicle while we attended the funeral, and Ed even making a special trip out to the shop to drop off the key so I could pick up the vehicle outside of their normal business hours. These guys are fantastic, I also found out that they service the vehicles of the state police for the area. If you are ever out in this part of the country and need your vehicle worked on, I highly recommend this shop.

While traveling, I was caught in a sudden deluge rainstorm. Visibility was instantly brought to…read morezero. A tree 8 feet up a bank on the roadside fell and struck our car while we were in motion. The windshield and sunroof were shattered, and the roof peeled back like a tin can. Serious injuries resulted. The NYS Police notified Val-U auto to remove the car. Incident occurred Thursday afternoon. By Friday 1200 noon, I called Val-U Auto to pay the fees and remove the car from lot (As Stated I am traveling and not from the area. Vehicle has Liability Insurance only) Dispatcher stated she would call me in an hour with price and vehicle location. 2 hrs later I followed up with another call. Dispatcher stated the owner had not told her the price yet. Keep in mind 5:00pm is closing time, And they are not open on weekends. I called again about an hour later, reminding the dispatcher that I wanted to remove the car today because i am traveling and did not want to incur fees and would not be i. town on Monday Morning when they opened again. Dispatcher hung up on me. I notified Geico who called the dispatcher but also was unable to get a price. This company clearly has an MO of holding your car, license plates, and time ransome. They clearly had no intention of releasing the vehicle until they could squeeze every last storage dollar they could. This company should not be placed in a position of public trust and utilized by the NYS Police. I will need to travel 250 miles back to Owego on Monday. I will be notifying Christoper Friend, Tom O'Mara, Peter Oberacker, in addition to my local NYS Rep., and Tioga county Rotation Tow list coordinator. My next stop after this review is the BBB. As a retired police officer, I can say that we would never allow this type of behavior from the Tow Companies on our list. I will be making the Major at NYSP Troop C aware of the occurrence also. My kids were shook up and we didn't know how we were going to get home. They gave us water including the dog, let us hang out at their shop for hours and even offered to drive me to the airport to try to get a rental car! They helped me unload my car and transfer it all to the rental and unattached my littler trailer basket and got it set up on the rental! They spoke with my husband over the phone and helped us get this mess all cleaned up! It was a stressful and difficult situation but Milewski towing made it as hassle free and friendly as possible! 100% recommend this family run and owned company!!
