Every single time I walked in, they never had apts so I finally booked two days in advance. I was early, my fault but I ended waiting and waiting and waiting - mind you a full set takes more than an hour and I needed to remove my shellac. I ended up leaving after 15 minutes of my apt. What was the point of booking my apt days in advance? This place wasn't even busy... The last time I came here, I was looking forward to Jing doing my nails but apple ended up doing it. She burnt me too many times and made me bleed. The other tech, I forgot her name did my shellac while watching NETFLIX on her phone and doing my nails. If you're not going to interact with me then give me the bare minimum of service - is that so hard? Complete my full set before watching two episodes of kdrama.... She was pausing with the nail brush in mid air and watching her kdrama on the phone on the empty table beside me. Learned my lesson time after time, better just go to yen nail in aurora.

Steven was gentle and weilded his tools well but did not do a good job applying my color. I didn't really care, but my daughter's hands were torn up. A few of her nails were bleeding and all her cuticles looked sore. Donna blamed her for having "thin" cuticles. When I mentioned it in the end, they just said sorry, have a good day. We learned a good lesson and will not be back.

I was looking for reviews online on google and here, and there is hardly anything available. So, I've decided to share my experiences here. Hopefully, they will be useful for someone. On Tuesday, I tried @ananekebeautysalon. I went there to get my Biogel manicure refill. They are in Yonge and Eglinton area. This place was recommended to me, and it had such good reviews on Yelp, and BlogTo. Plus, with a personal recommendation, I thought it was going to be my go-to nail salon. Maybe it's just my luck but this is not going to happen. I do not remember the name of my nail artist. Here is a list of things I didn't like. 1) She took forever to do my refill, literally over 1.5 hours. I don't do anything complicated on my hands. Usually, it's just a French manicure which I was getting this time. She kept messing up the white lines on top of the nails and redoing them. And then again. And again. And again. ‍ While I did appreciate the effort to get it right, this is the first time somebody had to redo several times half of my nails. By the end of it, I wasn't sure that the lady knew what she was doing. 2) The lady didn't file the edges of my nails properly. I didn't notice it in the salon, but I noticed it later that day when I was already on my way home. 3) She was doing such a bad job filing my nails and cut so much skin next to the nail bed on one of my fingers that it hurt for a few days. 4) On Friday, four days later, the white gel polish started chipping on several of my nails. This is ridiculous. This is biogel. It last forever and can survive alien invasion, nuclear war, and zombie apocalypse. This is the reason why I do it: biogel is the only thing that doesn't chip on my hands for three weeks. I don't know how this lady did it that it started chipping so early. Not a happy customer here. Sadly, after this experience I can not recommend this place to anybody. Please avoid it. ‍

I specifically picked a reference photo from their google reviews so that it would be doable. I would not go back for a manicure, but maybe for another pedicure.

I felt that the technicians cut off too much of the skin, immediately I felt the burn of alcohol on my skin. Jo was my nail tech and she did an amazing job - it was one of those fancier places that take care of your cuticles and give you a hand massage + hot towels after. They make sure each client is satisfied and happy! She spent a long time on my cuticles and never hurt me once, which doesn't happen a lot with my usual nail techs. She was patient even when I changed my nail colour a few times after the colour combo didn't turn out as I thought. She made sure I was happy with each step as she asked me if everything was okay every time she added a colour or layer. She also did an amazing job - she put the gel so close to the cuticles and it looks absolutely gorgeous. I think they can do subtle patterns and stuff too, but they have a large colour selection. They have lots of colours to choose from, powder or shellac or gel. Literally every cool nail thing you see on instagram, they have here - cat eye gel, holographic nails, chromes etc. She was super fast but good - gave me acrylics which ended up smooth but not super thick as most acrylics go. I prefer acrylics over gel because it's just stronger.. especially when you're dropping weights at the gym, ja feel? I've broken so many gel nails at the gym and I'm like ... y tho. These acrylics feel strong and durable AND they're affordable af. I paid $50 including tip. She also gives a nice little hand massage at the end, it's wonderful. I want to come back for a pedi! I have started doing my own nails, but do come back every now and then for special occasions. Yumi has been my nail tech for many many years and she's my absolute favourite. Her work is amazing and her cheerful personality makes you excited and comfortable during your appointment. I have also gotten my nails done by Saundia and Kasumi before and they're equally amazing. They don't have the old uncomfortable massage chairs that you may be used to at a nail salon but the salon is SOO clean. The stainless steel tubs to soak your feet in are a great modern and clean touch! I go for manicures and lash extensions and always leave happy! (The free shoulder massages are a big plus!) I recently discovered that they have "happy hours" a special for each day of the week and will be back often!
