I think most salons fake their UV sanitation (UV is expensive; they're either using weak light or fake light); and this salon didn't seem to have the most sanitary practices. I came here with a friend as my usual nail salon was all booked up. This place is a bit pricier than I'm used to but was able to fit us both in for a last minute appointment. I felt that it was a bit too cramped inside, no distancing as I was sitting side by side with a total stranger. The salon had a lot of customers when I walked in. My friend got a normal polish pedi and shellac mani. The pedi was good, no complaints. However the shellac mani was disappointing for both of us. I felt that the technicians cut off too much of the skin, immediately I felt the burn of alcohol on my skin. I understand not getting the polish on the skin or too close to the skin but viewing from above The sides of my nails were not painted properly. It looked quite bad. My friend felt the same and hers already chipped at the top of the nail after 2 days. All in all The technicians were very nice and it was good customer service but the experience was lack lustre. read more

They did a good job, nice vibe, took their time (had snacks and drinks) but, I ended up having to switch nail places.. I found it was costing more every time I got them done eg. One of the guys shortened my one thumb nail and asked which I liked better (all my other nails were longer, I said the longer one and he said it would cost $5 to add a tip to the nail HE cut too short I'm not going to argue for $5) and it ALWAYS took 2 hours even when I switched to dip powder (which was hit and miss which colour lasted on me.) read more

I went in for a half leg wax. the wax was too hot which I politely let her know. She also didn't seem to know how to wax, and she also got wax on the bottom of my foot. This whole treatment took like half an hour, and she missed some spots. My take on this is improper training and they just give you anyone to make money. read more

I'm a fan! This is my friends go to spot and we booked a couple of appointments for a Saturday afternoon. Their booking system online is really easy. When we got there, there was no wait, the nail techs were ready for all of us. We were also given water and there is coffee there too. The girls took their time with our nails and we left with great mani and pedis. I would totally recommend checking out vanity. It's clean, pretty reasonably priced and also they have a rewards program where you can use it towards a service once you've accumulated enough dollars. I booked with Vanity nail as a treat for myself and my fiancé before our wedding day and left feeling very unsatisfied to say the least. As a covid bride who hadn't done much celebrating, this was really exciting and was supposed to be special. There was a bridal party leaving so I understand if the woman at the front was overwhelmed and didn't see us standing there for some time. After asking a nearby attendant about being helped, we were instructed to wash our hands in the back, we did so and had to ask for a towel to dry our hands. No one had refilled the paper towels by the sink. A woman came and gave my partner and I a face cloth to share. I went to choose my colours and my fiancé came along behind me. I realized he wasn't sure which chair to go to, so I asked the front attendant for clarification. Not listening and seemingly annoyed, she repeated that I pick my colours and go to where she pointed. I began to explain that I was in the midst of picking a colour and just wanted to be sure for my partner when she rolled her eyes at me and repeated where to go. That really made me feel great. The attendants themselves were polite and professional. Though, spoiler alert-- they don't use blue lights and my pedicure got ruined right after I put on my shoes. Note, I waited as my partner got their manicure done. I didn't rush out. I wasn't far when I saw the ruined pedicure but didn't feel comfortable going back. Not with the way I was treated. Oh-- the cherry on top. I guess the hostess checked the notes and realized I was the bride. And that's when she came up to me and my partner with the menu and a VERY different tone of voice. I'm sure the nail technicians are talented, I just wish I got the experience so many people have seemed to rave about. As the FOH, I hope the front attendant learns to treat everyone coming into that establishment with dignity and respect. Really cute and clean salon! It looks like an expensive place but the prices are very fair and the quality of the services I have previously received have been great - I usually just go in for Shellac Manicures. However, the last time I went I decided to get my eyebrows done as well as I was going on vacation. Unfortunately, the woman who did my eyebrows didn't do the best job as now I have a few marks around one of my eyebrows. I am not sure if this was caused by the wax being too hot or not removed properly but now I have to go on vacation with what looks like a few small scrapes above my eyebrow. Aside from this incident, I will probably continue to do my nails here but that will definitely be the last time I do my eyebrows with them. read more

I had high hopes for this place. All the reviews say it is a great nail salon. I myself found it to be just ok. I had walked in to get my eyebrows done. Before we started I explained to the women how I wanted my eyebrows shapes. I told her to just clean them up a little. What does she do she takes half my eyebrows off. I was so pissed off with her and her remark was "Well they will grow back". Any women knows that eyebrows take a very long time to grow back properly. I was so pissed with her. What pissed me off even more was her attitude toward what I was trying to tell her. I repeatedly told her not to take to much off. But she didn't seem to care that I was upset. So I decided to give this place another try but not for eyebrows for a pedicure. This place is a very busy place. The décor is lovely. It's not like your typical nail salon. I felt they did a rush job on my pedicure. The pedicure was nothing to talk about. I thought they kind of rushed the process. I felt like they didn't take the time to really do a good job as there were so many women waiting to get a pedicure done. This happen to be on a Monday afternoon, where you would think it was their slow time. I was really shocked how busy they were for a Monday afternoon. The place was packed. Also I didn't find the chairs to be comfortable like some other salons. It's not a nail salon that I would go back to. I prefer going to a different salon in the Bloor West Village area. I scheduled an appointment online, for my birthday, which was very convenient. I received my confirmation and reminder prior to attending. Upon arriving I was seen fairly quickly. The site is bright and feminine with large comfortable white chairs and a white love seat in the waiting area. The atmosphere was upbeat and cheerful. The pedicure chairs were comfortable, white, wing-back, leather-like seats. It would of been perfect had the chairs had a massage feature for your back while getting the pedicure. The tub was washed and cleaned in front of us. The tub was then lined with a blue plastic liner/covering. I requested hot for my water temperature which made for a comfortable soak. Freshly sanitized tools we're used and I thought the technician did a great job on my pedicure. At the last minute, and after our pedicures were almost finished, we added manicures. They were able to take us immediately, making it seamless. I found the pedicure area comfortably spaced out but the manicure area was more of a tight squeeze area with very little space between clients. At the end of the session, we were placed under dryers and treated with a finishing spray. The pedicure has lasted several weeks. I thought my manicure was done well although it did not last as long as the pedicure. I liked how I was given several choices for the shape of the nail although I was not too happy with the colour I chose. I had the same technician for both services and she appeared to be well trained and knowledgable. Since everything was electronic, paying was also easy and seamless. They emailed our receipt which was wonderful. I would definitely go back again for a pedicure. As I mentioned early, the only thing I did not like was how close the customers we're seated to each other. There was very little personal space in the manicure area. I found the prices to be reasonable especially when doing a package. It was $45 for the Mani-Pedi and took a couple hours if you include the dryer. The staff and technicians were polite, friendly and provided great customer service. I would go back and give it another try as well as recommend it to others. read more

I came here with my friends a few weeks ago, I booked our appointments a full month in advance. We also arrived a half an hour early, we also weren't greeted. The part I'm most upset about it that we had to wait an hour before only one of us was put with a nail tech. The last person in my group was seated a full hour and a half later than our appointment. Since they knew that a group was coming in I would've assumed that they would be professional enough to make sure their other appointments don't interfere. That being said, we all love the nails that we received. Nice shape and colours. Another thing that was a major upset for me was that when I showed my nail tech the colour I would like he told me I couldn't and came back with a different one. Now I did like the colour he chose but he did not tell me that he was doing shellac which is $10 MORE! I also wanted a gradient but when I asked he turned to the lady next to him and they both laughed, very unprofessional, I felt extremely uncomfortable after that. After I was finished and I was waiting for my other group members to be done I received a call saying that my plans had changed meaning my nails needed to be shorter. I explained to the receptionist the situation and she said she can get someone over to help me. There were two nail techs just sitting on their phones. The receptionist told me that I should come back later and when I explained to her that I don't live in the area I was prepared to leave when another worker came over in a very harsh tone told me that I should come back later. She completely escalated the whole situation when it was very calm before she came over. Overall the place is clean and doesn't have a strong chemical smell (like most salons). The quality of my nails are inciting me to return but the customer service is appalling! read more

Wanted to pamper my mom for Mother's Day! Booked an appointment online for mani/pedis for the two of us (I got shellac) after searching for places in the area and reading great reviews on Vanity. Upon walking inside in the mid-afternoon, the man at the desk immediately knew my name and our appointment which added a personal touch. The salon looked very clean and the interior design was super cute. The only issue my mom and I had was the heavy chemical smell inside (which is why I only gave 4 stars and not 5). It was such a nice day outside, the staff could have kept the door open to air out the salon. Through out the time we were there, we noticed that others coming into the salon also had similar reactions to the smell. Other than that, the ladies that did our mani/pedis were great! They were detail-oriented and skilled. When it came to cutting our cuticles, they were gentle and did not did not cut too deep which has been a problem with other salons. My mom is usually pretty picky with her nails but Vanity exceeded her expectations! For me, I really liked that they had phone charging stations for when you get your nails done and a little guide on the different nail shapes. Overall, it was a great experience and nice way to pamper my mom for Mother's Day! We will definitely be coming back to get our nails done, however, we'll have to come in the morning to avoid the chemical smell. read more

Before making an appointment, I checked Yelp and Facebook to see what the ratings were, I read a few unhappy client reviews. But it didn't stop be from booking an appointment because there were also alot of great reviews and the pictures of the nail art was gorgeous so I know the expertise was there. So i booked an appointment for a manicure one evening. I suggest calling ahead to book your appointment instead of a walk-in to guarantee a spot. Upon my arrival, I was greeted by with a nice lady at the front desk. She offered me beverages and snacks which was a plus and coat check which I've never had before. I thought this was an added feature to this unique salon along with the interior decor. The lady who did my nail was gentle, really took her time, I am used to someone a little faster so I told her to speed it up but appreciate the precision and time. So its personal preference on what you prefer. Everything was done in procedure, there was no cross-contamination and clean which was very important when it comes to nails. I had my nails cut, filed, cuticles done and painted. I am happy with what i got and will most likely try the shellac/nail arts next time, I think the store manager there was an amazing nail artist as I saw her working on another client's hand and was intrigued. I will definitely come back and recommend this nail salon. There's many nail salons out there, many just do and know the basic, I feel that this nail salon is more unique and can do more with nails. just now Honestly one of the best pedicures I've had in a long time! My daughter and I went here today. Beautiful decor, excellent customer service, the pedicure was fast but very well done (nice foot and leg massage and hot towel) The lady doing my pedicure didn't say much (which is totally fine) but the lady doing my daughters pedicure was very attentive. The price was excellent, especially because the service was so great. Plus they have a points system where you get money back for every $10 you spend. I just came back from Vanity Nail & Beauty Bar where I had my first service done. The first two beauty bars that I went to were unable to see me. Thankfully I was able to get a waxing service at Vanity shortly after I arrived. I got my full legs waxed. It's very nice inside. I saw sticks in the waxing room but the lady who waxed me used roll-on wax. She also could not locate the sheet to place on the bed after looking around the salon for at least five minutes. She put paper towel on the bed. There's nothing luxurious about that. The service was good and cheaper than some places but if you're going to call your establishment luxurious the true luxury should be in the service and not the decor. read more

I was given a gift card for this nail establishment. I went in on Saturday February 24 for a shellac manicure, the next day the nail polish peeled off. I called them to let them know what had happened and they rebooked me for another appointment. When I went there for the second time I felt that they treated me differently and didn't care that THEY did a poor job the first time. When I got back to work after they fixed it. The nail polish was on my skin and the coats were not even. I will never go back to this nail place. read more

I went to have my acrylics removed and it was a complete nightmare! My nail technician, Lyuba, said she needed to excuse herself for a moment halfway through my appointment. I thought this was reasonable until I witnessed her leaving the salon in her coat and boats with some cash in her hand. I was speechless. A full 15 minutes later, she came back with a large bag of takeout. She told me she would have been back sooner but "the lineup for takeout was very long". I had never witnessed anything like it. The utter disrespect was horrifying. As a final insult, the $15 fee advertised on the website became $20 because I wasn't a "club member". Her rushed work showed in the bad appearance of my nails afterwards. If you're looking for even mediocre service or decent looking nails, I advise that you stay far, far away from Vanity Nails! read more

I have been looking for a new after nail salon for a while and was impressed with the décor and atmosphere of this salon. My thought was if they spent so much money and made such an effort on the design they would want to staff it with the best as well. Sadly that wasn't the case. I even went in in person to "interview" the technician before making an appointment with photo of what I wanted in hand. They assured me they could do that so I booked the appointment. Well, I walked out with nails that looked nothing like my photo. Natural looking was what I asked for and there is nothing natural about these. In addition Nancy used the drill to such an extent that I have a ridge in my nails that I am worried might have caused permanent damage. I now have to find a place to try and fix this set. They might be fine for a regular Mani Pedi but I would be very wary about Bio gel or acrylics. So disappointed. I would give high marks for the atmosphere and cleanliness and the staff was certainly pleasant but they were not experienced. I won't go back. The lovely environment doesn't make up for the poor quality work. read more

Booking at Vanity with the new system is such a breeze. I book most of my appointments for lash extensions. Lyuba is an absolute goddess! She has been my lash artist for around 7 years; every set and fill are always perfect. Her work is incredible, skilfully crafted; she is able to achieve the exact look I want (and I do love a very full look) and preserve the integrity of my natural lashes. I've been getting fills on the same set for over 3 years straight now with no issues. Credit is certainly due to her expertise and the care in her work. I trust her recommendations, appreciate her professionalism and truly value the flawless lash extension experience she creates every time. I've already asked Lyuba to do my wedding lashes and that's a while from now but I am absolutely set on having her as a part of my special day. The salon is very clean and tidy. Second time I came in, I waited 20 minutes to be taken in. To be fair, it was a walk-in appointment on a Saturday before Christmas. Didn't mind the wait, as I thought they did a good job to my first visit. I had the same lady do my nails the second time around. When she was filing my nails, I was watching the TV right above our heads. Once I looked down, I saw her filing her own nail and then back to my own. Later on, once she was doing my cuticles, I notice she had started cutting her own cuticles. In the middle of painting my nails, she had removed her socks, put them in her apron and continued to paint my nails accordingly. I was afraid to cause a scene, so I finished the treatment accordingly. Once, I was being cashed out I was being charged for the regular shellac manicure vs a colour change. I had realized this was my mistake, and had offered to pay the full pop as things were done differently here than the old spa I used to go to. I wasn't upset by the charge, it was just a matter of confusion on my end. It was also a bit unfair that another lady, in the middle of doing someone else's nails, decided to interrupt and tell me that next time I have to repeat what I wanted done. Quiet embarrassing and rude as I did say I know better for next time, and had owned up to my mistake and offered to pay full shellac manicure. I didn't have it in me to let them know of my treatment in order to save them the embarrassment of being called out. Just wish they had the same courtesy. read more
