I went off to get a first aid certificate at ABC Training in the CBD. To be honest I was really…read moredreading it as it was a full day course, which featured both written and practical tests throughout. I worried how difficult it may be to retain enough of the information. The course was run by a guy called Juan, he really impressed me, he had a fantastic teaching style, breaking down the information so that it was palatable and his main teaching method was by asking questions and forcing us to really think and use logic to work out how situations should be handled. Juan was very helpful through the practical side of things ensuring we had a clear understanding of how to do things properly. He was friendly but still tough in expressing the importance of doing things properly as it could save somebody's life. Overall I was very pleased with the course, I got my certificate and I walked away feeling I really had learned a lot and that if I was put in a crisis situation I could navigate my way through. My only complaint, the air con was cold. Wear something warm.

I have taken 2 days off work at a cost of over $1000 to not get the training I paid for! I have submitted a claim for refund and compensation........let's see how that goes. Next step the Ombudsman if I get no satisfaction. I will be taking my training requirements elsewhere.

The presenter was great and really personable. He gave an overview of the session and through each stage of the presentation he made sure we all understood. Has been around for a long time, and they have their own dedicated campus in Rozelle for art and…read morecomputer courses. All of their other courses are conducted at various public secondary schools in the inner west. Well organised, and it is always great to flick through their brochures and select a course of two to attend either in the evening or during the weekend; just to get out and about and learn a new skill; and also to interact with likeminded people. Their cooking classes (especially the Thai one) isn't too bad; and it is great to eat the food afterwards; although their prices could be a bit lower and their class sizes could be a bit smaller. Fairly experienced teachers, although you are sometimes better off saving your cash and figuring out some of the topics they teach yourself; especially as a couple of the business related courses (for what they are worth) are actually a little boring, and did not receive much value out of them. An establishment that will continue to remain quite popular among those living in the inner west. Any of their health and fitness courses are also good to do once in a while; especially any of the aqua courses at Leichhardt Park Aquatic Centre.
