Like clockwork we'd get solicitation calls from the local Mason branch even though it was noted in the file that we didn't want to get them. Then they started adding all these fees to their banking. So since the other 6 local banks didn't have fees we figured it was time to switch. No more annoying calls no more fees all over the place. This branch couldn't even close out our account properly. 10 days after we closed the account 5/3 hit us with a fee for being under their limit (of course the account is at $0. because we CLOSED it) and we had to argue with them over that. They seem to be a combination of dishonest and incompetent. I'm glad we moved our money elsewhere.

She pointed fingers at everyone to resolve my issue but herself! What a ignorant individual! This company took over the SECU in Saginaw that I did business with for a couple of decades. I miss SECU because they had experienced people who knew what to do and get any situation I had resolved promptly. Instead, I got people/person who are inexperienced and liars! I'm so glad I withdrew my funds and joined another credit Union (WILDFIRE) who would not consistently lie to me. My banker at Wildfire is great and assisted me through my monetary and account needs. I recommend you all remove your funds if at CPCU if you're mistreated and go to Wildfire because your funds will grow with interest and have people who know what they're doing. At CPCU I had to get another debit card that didn't work and the young lady at the Saginaw branch tried everything she could to get it to work but failed. She tried calling folks and they didn't have a clue on how to make the card work! How embarrassing! Luckily, my stepbrother used to be in the mortgage business in Lansing and referred us over to John at HomeLoans. Excellent recommendation, and we could not have been more pleased with the professionalism and service we received from John -- start to finish. From the very first interaction, I knew things would go smoothly. John has everything about the buying process/mortgage qualifications on lockdown. He's very familiar with the ins and outs of Michigan home buying. He's super responsive, especially via email...which was important to us as we were operating with a 5 hour time difference. He was always happy to chat via phone as well. My husband is a very tough mortgage customer (it pays to ask questions and be prudent, I suppose!) and John handled everything to his satisfaction, and then some. If you get 5-stars from Nick F (he promises to also write) it's really like 10 stars. Organized, efficient, professional and honest. Every step of the way things were handled so well, I almost couldn't believe it. I've had some nightmare mortgage brokers in the past that really soured me on the whole profession. John has reversed my thinking. I know I sound like an advert, but it's really true. It isn't that easy to find someone in this field that makes the process smooth and easier to digest, let alone...enjoyable!? In the end, we closed our "summer cabin" with very little difficulty (well, on the mortgage side of things, anyway!). John coordinated everything perfectly for a remote closing (not that easy) in the week between Christmas and New Years (even less easy), ran interference with the title company -- and really did us a solid. Would highly recommend him and this company, I have to believe his associates are of the same caliber though I cannot personally vouch. After reaching out to X Tax about my return they initially told me they had no record of my return being done. They then told me that they'd do some research on their end, which I was okay with. The problem is magically 20 or so minutes later they "found it" and said it was sent to the IRS and they had accepted it....so I rechecked the wheresmyrefund.com site later and there was now information regarding my tax return. Look I understand mistakes happen and I have no issue with that. But what I do have an issue with is them LYING to me about sending it. Just be transparent and say you messed up. Other than this instance my experience has been good.

The phone was answered by a live person, not a machine. My appointment was on time and I was not kept waiting. The office was clean and parking was right at the door. Having two state and two federal returns prepared in one sitting was a little costly but mine are complicated and I wanted them done correctly. I was pleasantly surprised to find that I received refunds from both state and federal. Honestly, I expected to have to pay. Electronic filing was fast and easy, and I received my refunds in about one week. Recently I had to phone Simplified because I could not locate my daughter's return and needed it to complete her FASFA application. I phoned and was told that yes, I certainly could get that document. If I were to pick it up in person, it would cost $10. But Paula told me that she could email it to me for free. I was very pleased with their service both times. Highly recommended.
