I opted to buy a bottle of chianti to bring back in my suitcase whereas others bought them to ship back home. One girl bought a few bottles to smuggle in her suitcase. You're allowed to bring back 2 bottles at the most so I don't suggest trying it but she managed 10. We also tried the vinsanto with almond biscotti. That's a dessert wine the monks used to use as 'medicine'. Nowadays, they serve it with biscotti to dip into while sipping it as a dessert wine. They also sell special bubble wrap in the shape of wine bottles to protect your new investments for 2,10 euro. Not too bad if you think the TSA will be rough with your luggage and most of the time that's true. The staff was very kind and they take US dollars as well as euros.

The man helping us was so incredibly kind. He gave us the history of the Swedish family that owns it and explained that much of the beautiful tasting room is brand new. We got to sample their wines on the patio while enjoying the view; and he was so generous to provide us with local cheeses, crackers, and bread to enjoy with our wine. We feasted like kings. We took several bottles with us and how I wish this place was local to me as if I would be returning on a regular basis.

About 60 seconds later he allowed us to enter. My wife asked him for his name and he said wait until the presentation, which I thought was rude. Taking a second to provide your name is not much to ask for. Our group was initially a total of four and we were later joined by two more people(more later on this). Andrea began the tasting experience by advising us the tour would begin upstairs in four different rooms covering different aspects of the history of the wine. About 30 minutes into the upstairs tour the additional party of two joined our group. Andrea had to stop our tour to get the new couple up to speed. Andrea had us sit in the scents & spices room for approximately 15 minutes while he spoke with the late arrivals. The playful lesson which consisted of smelling scents and spices was too long and made it seem like an aromatherapy class. Finally, we made it back to the tasting room which was warm. The cheese for the food pairing had condensation on it indicating it was sitting out for a while in the room. The tasting experience was lackluster and Andrea seemed condescending at times when asking us wine questions. At the end of the tasting there was no conclusion other than Andrea telling us we could take a picture of the wine we tasted. I have visited many tasting rooms and have never had such a bad experience. Everything indicated on the website describing the tasting experience occurred, however, it was underwhelming. After this tasting experience we went to another winery which was more welcoming and had a better presentation in every aspect.
