I spend so much money here each time I go to CInci. Kasen got me a Michelle Obama nightlight here one year for my birthday when we went to see V. E. Schwab. I like to come here for fancy pens, paper goods, and to spend money on things I don't need. Everyone should get a little treat once in a while. This is a great place to do it. I am an avid supporter of local businesses. There are times when I buy things that cost more at local shops, for the sake of supporting a local business. I tried to exchange a purchase made at this store without a receipt. I wanted an exchange, not a refund. I was told that that she had no idea if it was used or purchased there. I told her the item was definitely purchased there and not used, and to feel free to validate this. She said no, sorry, no exchanges without a receipt. I told the salesperson that I could see that the item I purchased was in stock/in the store (in hopes of validating that I purchased it there), but she said they sell so many things at this store that are also sold in other places. If she carries that many items sold in other places, there is hardly a reason for me to shop there, given the inconvenient hours and higher prices. This interaction was extremely frustrating to me. I would have thought a local shop might be more flexible about these types of policies. The level of customer service I received was not acceptable. Not only will I not shop there again, I'll be sure to tell others not to shop there as well. read more

My, oh my! Beautiful stationery and wooden toys. From the moment you step in, you know this is not another Hallmark store. The choice of cards here is huge and they are all very rare, edgy, most of them somehow vintage and really unique. I also loved the wooden puzzle and clocks, so cute! If you are looking for some special card, that is your spot! Seems like you can also order your custom made wedding etc. stationary there as well. I love paper. I am seriously crazy about paper. Journals, cards, calendars, you name it... I love paper. I love it even more if it's beautiful, or quirky or just plain interesting. And this is why Poeme gets 5 stars - everything in the store is either beautiful, quirky or interesting or some other cool adjective you want associated with a piece of paper. You can buy cards, stationery, gifts, calendars, organizers, pens, wrapping paper, etc... here. Yes, it's priced slightly higher than what you would pay at Kroger or Walmart for a greeting card, but that extra money is worth it because you are buying something made by an independent artist instead of a giant corporation. Definitely visit Poeme if you need a unique card, beautiful paper or if you're just in the mood to browse a fun little store. They also will do custom invitations/stationery for events so if you're a bride, check them out for sure. read more

I stopped in for help with ordering gift bags, tags, and inserts for my son's wedding. I was surprised at how unfriendly the owner was. I asked him to provide ideas and was just told "we can do whatever you want!" I had never been mother of the groom before! Ideas and samples would have been helpful. So far, this is one of the best paper/stationary stores I've found in Cincinnati. They have a wide selection of paper, stationary, scrapbooking needs, pens, journals, albums, frames, odd desk items, etc. They even have cardboard moose heads for your wall... As with most such places, the prices will be higher than at your mass produced chain store, but I think you are buying a little more heart for your money, so it's well worth it. Oddly unique though, they also offer design services from corporate branding to custom wedding invitation design. read more

I love the cards at Poeme. Whenever I'm stumped on a particular card for a particular holiday for a particular person, I end up finding something perfect at Poeme. They even had timely "sorry you're no longer a..." fill-in-the-blank horoscope cards. The shop is bright, clean and well-decorated. They have a few nice stationary-related gifts too. The best part? They keep your customer loyalty punch card at the counter in a little file. You don't have to walk around with it in your wallet for those rare spontaneous trips the stationary store. I totally geek out over stationery and office supplies so I could spend an hour in here. Great place for a unique gift for just about anyone. My kids love the tiny glass animals and paper robot kits! Poeme is a great shop for custom stationary - they are very helpful in every way from beginning to end. I personally find different types of paper and printing and whatnot overhwhelming, but my husband and Kristen geeked out over it and we ended up with absolutely beautiful invitations. There's something great about someone who loves stationary so much that gets you jazzed about it also - I never though I'd be so excited to use our custom embosser. I visited the shop for the first time yesterday and could not have been more impressed. The vintage-inspired and eclectic selection is wonderful and enjoyable to browse through. The products offered are varied and unique, offering something for everyone. Aside from the stationary and cards, there are several gifts and accessories such as pens, erasers, etc. The staff is helpful and very friendly. However, it is an expensive shop. The prices aren't terribly unreasonable for the products you're getting but they are high. The quality and uniqueness of the items generally make up for the price tag, but it is very easy to rack up a high bill. It's also somewhat difficult to find what you're looking for if you come in with a purpose (the sections aren't labeled), but the staff is more than happy to assist you. Overall, it's a great place to visit and purchase a few things. I highly recommend you stop in if you're in the area. read more

They have helped me with so many different things, from designing and printing my letterhead and business cards to designing and printing our save the date cards and wedding invitations. They have a unique creative vision and work with you to produce something that's original and encapsulates the style you like. They also have neat products for sale, like pens, cards, stationary and other gift items. I have always found great birthday and Christmas gifts here. I'm not at all familiar with French so I was able to overlook the misspelling that Julia O. pointed out. I thoroughly enjoyed my shopping experience at Poeme (maybe as a result of my naivete). I was wandering down Michigan Avenue today when I noticed Poeme. I was drawn in the second I saw the display of Quotable Quotes cards for sale...I'm addicted to the line! Poeme carries all of your stationary/journal/note-card needs. I sadly couldn't find a way to rationalize buying a set of dinner party invitations made on coasters (how cute?!) but I did end up picking up an adorable thank-you card for a recent present I was given. The card was way more unique than a Hallmark and still only set me back $5. I was almost persuaded to buy a bar of novelty chocolate from the counter display but fought against it...though I know where to go for a sympathy card and a bar of "Emergency Chocolate" from now on. The employee was super nice and pointed out the script metal art that Poeme offers for sale. At $10 a letter, they are a customizable and unique present for anyone. read more

I used Poeme in Cincinnati OH, for my wedding invitation last year 2019 and they had a typo on my Dads name. I expected them to catch this considering this is an English name. By the time I saw this Invitations were already printed and no time to correct. Microsoft word would have caught this typo! If you use them just know they will print exactly what you give them without checking even though they charge you$$ for making sure everything is correct. Customer service was also poor. Invitations turned out beautiful but I would still not recommend. Nope! read more

I like their product but the owners give you little attention and it seems like they're doing you a favor by designing your invitations. We visited the store three times and all three times they hardly looked up from their computer and didn't greet us. My partner and I weren't sure if they just don't like gay guys or they/re aloof, but we have two other friends that experienced the same. Same-sex unfriendly?
