We came on a Saturday at noon, and it was absolutely packed. Luckily, there were a couple of tables open in the upstairs area. The servers are fluent in English and are quite friendly. We ordered the oyster shucker's platter, burgundy snails, and squid a la plancha tapas with scallops added. The oyster shucker's platter is a great way to try all the different kinds of seafood, consisting of oysters, prawns, whelks, and shrimp. The oysters were super fresh and plump - tasted like sea water but in the best way possible, melting in your mouth. The prawns were plump and fresh, and the shrimps were crunchy and umami. The whelks were somewhat hard to get out of their shells, but they were very chewy and satisfying. The escargot came out hot and warm, with the parsley sauce soaking into the tender snail meat. The squid was chewy yet tender, and the scallops were super soft and tender. The slight char on each piece gave a smoky, woody flavor that was wonderful. Can definitely see why people order platters and platters of this fresh seafood!

All with a bottle of Rosé and impeccable service. The "Halles" is a great spot to peruse ingredients and people watch. And at noon, to eat. Chef here used an exquisite blend of unique spices for our dishes, and the pride in his food and service was obvious. What a Treat!!! :)

This food hall features the "Best of the best of Lyon and other regions of France. You can dine in at a few restaurants inside, feast on some of the FRESHEST seafood, charcuterie, foie gras, Lyonnaise specialities, and be sure to save room for dessert and sweets from some of Lyon's top patisseries inside. Workers inside are very polite and very accommodating, also very appreciative of our attempts to communicate in French. It is Gastronomy overload here as we visited two days in a row. We feasted on Oysters, shellfish, charcuterie, wine and cheese, and even Lyonnaise specialities like Andoulette and Salade Lyonnaise. Lots of variety here. Price points for food items here are justified, even cheaper than what we pay in the U.S. This is definitely the food hall of all food halls!

All of which offered local Lyonnaise food. Thank you. Lyon is known for their food, but I have been unlucky with my meals. Some my fault, some theirs I am happy now to finally experience their local cuisine. Ambiance - Good size food hall. 3 butchers. 4-5 charcuterie shops. 7 bakeries. 11 cafes, bars, restaurants. 2 wine merchants. 5 seafood, oyster bars. 2 fish shops. 4 delis. 4 cheese shops. 3 produce shops. etc. Service - Overall good. Caters to both locals and tourists. Saw many tour groups. Price - Depends on what you buy, eat, or drink. I felt reasonably priced. Do keep in mind that this is also a tourist place, so prices may reflect that. Owner Comment - Congrats on all your success.
