I was craving a poke bowl and wanted to try a different Poke place (my usual is Iké Poke), so decided to give Pokawa a go. Unfortunately for everyone involved, Pokawa was a bit of a disappointment.
Poke is expensive. The OG Hawaiians who made Poke probably knew this, us Americans know this, and the French know this. So yes, I expect to pay €14 for a Poke bowl--that's what I pay at Iké, after all. In exchange I expect a good, filling bowl of Poke.
So tell me why the bowl comes out and it's like, miniature. The bowl was about an inch and a half high, and the non-rice ingredients couldn't have made up more than half an inch. Hand on my heart I think there was less than 400 calories in that whole bowl.
The interior decour was gorgeous and the quality of the ingredients was good, hence the three stars. But I really can't get down to serving your patrons Poke that costs €1 for every bite. read more
