I questioned the workers doing this as it was about to rain, but they assured me that it would be fine. We had a downpour within one hour of them painting and sure enough, the paint job suffered. I had to contact Aylton, the owner, repeatedly for 6 weeks before the painting was finally touched up. There were many weather days when painting was not an option, but the company didn't try to fulfill their promise of correcting things in a timely manner or without my constant reminding. I recommend looking elsewhere for your railing needs.

I had a Groupon for a $99 carpet cleaning (3 rooms, 900 sq. feet or less). I made an appointment…read moreover the phone and Donnie showed up on time and with a smile, even though it sounded like I was his 6th or 7th appointment of the day. I am getting ready to move out of my condo and wanted to have the carpet cleaned for the tenant who I am renting my condo out to. The previous owners of the condo had clearly never cleaned the Berber carpet. It was a dark brown, almost black, color in some areas. Let's just say it was so bad that you could see the outline of where they had placed furniture as those areas were somewhat lighter in color. Donnie was quick and efficient and really polite. I asked him if he needed help or wanted water, and both times he said no thank you, but said he was grateful that I asked. Since I am on the third floor, he had to throw a rope down to hoist a hose and a water line up to my condo. He was so quick and quiet that I didn't even realize when he left my condo to rig this set-up. I was packing and working while he cleaned, and Donnie never bothered me. However, when I checked in on him, I noticed how clean the carpet was! Even a really stained spot was treated so well (he spot cleaned it so definitely attention to detail was a plus) that it was white again! I seriously have never seen my carpet so clean. I am kinda bummed that I won't get to enjoy the clean Berber carpet in my place now. Donnie was fun to talk to, and probably one of the friendliest service people I have ever encountered. He told some really funny stories and just seemed so personable that at one point, I felt guilty . . . like I was asking my friend to clean my carpet. And he was only there for a little over an hour. But you will see what I mean when you meet him. He even gave me a card and a magnet and was professional throughout the process, with handshakes and good manners. He even advised me to be careful when going from the cleaned damp carpet to my laminate wood floors as I could fall. When he left, he reminded me of my dad . . . he told me to remember to lock the door behind me! I hope that his boss reads this review to him as Donnie admitted to me at the conclusion of his visit that he didn't even own a computer and had never heard of Yelp. I did tell him to be on the lookout for a great review of his service and that hopefully somebody will alert him to the content. This was the best $99 I have ever spent. Turns out my husband has separately used Vioclean for bathroom tile cleaning services in his house and loved them too! I would recommend Vioclean without hesitation. The carpet in my condo is now clean and it's an environmentally friendly process without any fumes or heavy chemicals or cleaners.

I needed to remove some old cast iron boilers, steam piping, and cast iron radiators from my…read morebuilding. I had some competing bids, but thought to call a recycling company to see if they could get some benefit from all of the metals I planned to unload. Joshua Recycling ultimately gave the best price for the job, although there were a few hiccups. Chuck from Joshua recycling quoted the job without ever visiting, so I assume that removing the boilers is fairly standard work for them. The first time the team forgot that Chuck had scheduled the job, so I was just sitting at home like stood up prom date. We cleared that up, and the company agreed to discount my job slightly to make up for my lost time. The second problem is my fault: as a new home owner, I never knew to call a plumber to disconnect the boilers. The team came out once, and could not do much of any thing that day, so I agreed to deposit $200 with Joshua toward the final completion of the job, and to call them back the next week. They also reneged on the discount that we had agreed upon, because this time I had wasted their time, so we were about even at this point. So call them back the next week I did. Once the plumber disconnected the boilers, I asked when they could come to pick them up. They were on site literally the next day, upcoming Christmas be damned. The team did fantastic work. They worked hard all day to remove every trace of cast iron pipe in my building. If it was attached, and related to these steam boilers, they took it. They yanked. They cut. They sawed, and carried off these heavy radiators, and pipes into their truck. They took a sledgehammer to break up the different components of the boilers, because they were that old, and tough, but these guys are tougher. I checked the building afterward, and the only thing left were the holes where the steam pipes used to come into the rooms, and I gladly patched those up. My issue is mainly with Joshua, who directs the teams. I had an experience with a different contractor where we disagreed on the price, but we never wrote any thing down, so I chose to pay rather to devolve into he said, she said. This turned into a similar situation, only this time I was absolutely sure of how much I agreed to pay for this job, because we negotiated it very clearly the first time the team visited. Joshua insisted that my payment for the first visit was a payment, not a deposit, and that was very definitely not what I agreed to. I was much firmer about not being upsold this time, and he seemed very frustrated when we hung up. However I am not in the habit of ripping off small businesses, and I still would like to work with Joshua Recycling again, so I had a change of heart about paying the additional $200. But this time I could not get him to answer my calls to confirm his business address so that I could mail a check. I still want to do it too, although I have not heard from him yet. So there it is. The team is great. There can be some confusion in pricing, and scheduling, but this is still not a bad company to work with. As always, I recommend that you get as much as you can in writing, and do as much preparation for the job as you can in advance.
