You can get a fix-it ticket handled here in minutes but these cops don't respond well to dispatch calls. In fact, they don't respond directly if you call at night directly after a crime. Not to imply that Piedmont/Montclair has a ton of them but thievery is very present and it would be nice to at least feel like there is an authoritative presence. In my families case, we could walk right down to the station and ask them what the hold-up is. But once again, I have to cut 'em a little slack because we have never had an urgent issue. What can I say? The police are a godsend and a grenade in the same basket. As long as their are no "Meh"serles among their ranks I am content with PPD servicing the Piedmont and the very adjacent Oakland hills area.

The cops were nice to me but not so nice to my friend. They said my friend had a warrant for his arrest. he told the police that it was already taken care of long long ago and he has no warrant anymore. The cops said they would figure it all out at the police station. So they took my friend to the police station and I waited in my car for him. Finally after a few hours they let him. When my friend came out he wasn't that upset. I told him, "Aren't you pissed off?" And he said no, he is used to be discriminated against because he is Black. He was right, he didn't have a warrant. I guess the Kensington police blamed it on their computer system (or lack of). If you are Black, I would stay out of Kensington, especially at night because the cops are going to treat you like a criminal. Many times I was driving home from my friend's house in Kensington and pulled over for nothing. No violations at all. Driving perfectly, under the speed limit, tags okay, all my signals ok. The cops want to know where you are going. I grew to hate Kensington because the cops would always hassle me. They don't like you driving there at night time. I guess Kensington is a good place to live if you are old and don't go out at night. It's pretty safe, some home burglaries now and then. A couple stolen cars. If you drive a car that poor people drive expect to get pulled over constantly in Kensington. Bored cops I guess.

Albany City Hall was located about two blocks from my apartment when I lived in Albany (2016-2019)…read more I walked past it going to the YMCA to work out, drove past it many times on my way to/from work and school, and police cars would commonly drive down our street. It provided a feeling of safety to live near the city hall and police station. My parents called the police on me one time when I was borderline suicidal. They tracked me down to the YMCA and made me come out and talk to them and the police force psychologists. Not too happy to have them disturbing my workout at the time, but I am alive and their making me talk to them helped me get out of a negative space. So I thank them for that and being kind to me even when I was a bit ornery in the moment. You could also come here and vote on Election Day. I came with one of my friends/flat mates for the 2018 elections. He had decided to vote with the ballot at the voting station, I came to drop off the ballot I had received in the mail. The drop-box for the ballot was easy to find and well displayed. Voting stations/booths and the room they were located in were well marked. The line was short and voting went quickly for him as well. An all around enjoyable experience.

This is a review of Albany, California and how poorly it is managed by city officials. I've been…read morehere since Clinton was president so I can say that things in Albany has certainly gone downhill for some time. For a one square mile town squeezed between the Bay & the regional park, it isn't much of a town. I've talked to long time SF Bay residents who drive by Albany on the freeway, and don't even notice it. This very small town for decades hasn't changed much, and the houses are still embarrassingly tiny & very old. While SF has changed their skyline, Albany stubbornly doesn't add more housing or jobs. It isn't instantly obvious to new people but Albany caters exclusively to one particular generation: the (NIMBY) Baby Boomers. This Boomer-centric town is stuck in a rut, with only liquor stores on every block, pharmacies wherever you look, and more pet shops than fast food. It's like the city officials just don't care about anyone else, and assume Boomers are the only people here. The roadways are getting worse (especially near schools), I think Solano Ave hasn't been totally redone in decades, relying on just patch ups of potholes. Most of the main roads are uneven & takes forever to get repaired. After the 2020-21 Covid19 Lockdown, this small town lost the bowling alley, Subway, Goodwill, and 3 of the 4 corners of the San Pablo Ave & Solano Ave intersection has lost businesses. The housing market is affected by such eyesores of too many empty commercial properties! What are the Albany city council members & mayor doing for the next generations in affordable housing and bringing jobs? Or are they content with leaving this town worse than they found it with a gaping economic crater & lots of crime? These people should be fired. If they can't manage a 1 square mile town then they can't manage anything at all! Albany looks like a ghost town and desperately needs a makeover!

The deputies were taxed with a difficult task, the retrieval of my pitnull, Jake, that had been…read moreplaced on a foster home. The foster parents decided not to cooperate with the release of my Jake, so I sought help. The deputies took the time to check out my story, from the Forest ille area, contacting my daughter for further clarification and confirmation of facts relayed. With numerous text messages, phone calls conversations and witnesses, there was enough evidence for the deputies to respond. They immediately set out the next business day and removed Jake from their possession. Jake did a ride along in Napa until my daughter was able to arrive an hour or so later. They praised Jakes manners and demeanor, as they handed him over. It was difficult walking down the stairs to my daughter's truck, to get my Very Excited boy out. Barely able to stand, I grasped the door handle and took my baby into my arms, tears pouring. Thank you Thank you Thank you Napa County Sheriff Dept! Because of you, I had many years after that day in 2014 with my soulmate. I will always remember what you dod...What you gave me....my baby back..

In the short time I have lived here, I have noticed quite covertly department of Transportation freeway cams went up a couple weeks after I visited a street off the freeway in American Canyon after looking at a place, then after I moved to Napa on the 29 both ways to lake berryessa and to sonoma, PD placed Black flock FBI solar cameras on each stretch then, they placed on on the exit of the freeway at trancas where target is, then they placed a department of transportation camera at the entrance to sonoma, then after I went to sonoma several times to check it out, they placed 2 black flock talon solar cameras on entry point and exit, I thought wow this is very odd. So now they have placed 2 very sly at kennedy park entrance which is a public park which is astonishing to me because nothing happens there, so I stopped going there because I moved here for privacy so now they have places a camera at the entry of a small yountville park california avenue. I am stunned by this paranoia. I always supported PD and no longer support any state PD unless I know them personally. State PD and federal PD are not the same. State pd support illegals and do not support law abiding citizens. They also profile anyone who knows what they are up to like myself. To me this is looking like they are closing in and creating a big brother situation like Fairfield has, which is a whole nother story. Fairfield have worked with the DOT to add freeway cams every 1000 feet, this should be illegal. I grew up during the Reagan era, no surveillance, no profiling, no access to my phones, no stalking, we are now living in alarming times of bored, over paid PD who will profile anyone who catches them in their devices or sees what they are up to. PD are using advanced technology such as imsi catchers in their cars and hailstorm/stingrays to bypass cell towers to make your phone look like it is connected to a tower to surveillance you & access your phones freely without you knowing, they can read your text messages, your emails and listen to vc mail. I caught Napa pd 2 days ago, they turned on my laptop accessible listening to hear me in my own home, how do I know its them? I texted myself they read the text got angry and hacked my login on my phone and laptop the very next morning twice. 6 other counties in Cali have done this to me for exposing them. My father a vet, ex military Navy knows a marine who works as a PI in LA who told me on the phone that the only people that can do this level of surveillance and accessing my car event data recorder to track my car location, turn on my bluetooth and volume in my car while sitting at the beach and in my iphone at the same time are PD! Be aware people, you have no privacy anymore and those of us who just want to relax and enjoy our days because life is so short, we simply cannot because we know someone is always watching who should not be, which is disgusting because my life is none of their business whatsoever. On top of that, I am an excellent law abiding citizen, except they dont want me sharing this information with anyone ans they dont like me because I have caught them jn my devices countless times and called them on it! People, PD are not your friends, they dont like any of you, they hate you and they are here to nail or stage any event to target anyone they can to make themselves look good. PD are not the same as they were in 2012. Things have dramatically changed. This is just sad. I will never trust PD ever again and these cameras going up at every location I frequent? I would say PD in Napa are obsessed, jealous, caught up and incredibly corrupt to do this and to try and take away my privacy and all of yours when our lives are none of their business. If you dont like your job PD then choose a new one, stop taking your anger out on people who have caught on to your paranoid, big brother, stalker motives which are a complete disgrace. We all deserve some sense of privacy and joy in our lives and Napa PD want to take that away from everyone.

My one star review is solely based upon two separate incidents that occurred when I was working…read morewith a student housing office. Short version: horrible experience with receptionist over prolonged period; horrible experience with a specific firefighter who "shamed" me for not knowing better and calling 9-1-1. The receptionist was unorganized; misplaced faxed documents and claimed I never faxed them; LIED to students that they weren't supposed to submit the paperwork to the office but rather directly to the department. [per policy they were to submit it to the housing office and I would fax it to the department and retain the original for our records]. Another incident occurred that same school year, in which I made the decision to call 9-1-1 because of the state my friend was in. I was definitely hesitant about calling because he told me not to call but I said "better safe than sorry." Basically when I did call, operator somehow "diagnoses" what's going on with my friend and so while the firefighters thought it was "alcohol withdrawal" all I described was: uncontrollable shaking or shivering, couldn't tell which one, labored breathing, inability to hold himself up and the inability to focus his eyes. One firefighter said "this was a fucking waste of time" proceeded to ask who called and tried to shame me for calling and telling me that I "should have known better than to think it was alcohol withdrawal." Looking back, I wished I cursed him out (not ignorantly) but in a way that got him to see his own ignorance. Obviously I'm not a firefighter, not a paramedic or anything related to a professional in the medical field. Just because I am a college student, it doesn't mean I know what all sorts of alcohol related emergencies look like. It also doesn't mean I drink, he heavily implied that, and I'm actually sober. He needs to learn to be professional and understand that there are going to be unintentional "bad" 9-1-1 calls that are out of genuine concern and lack of knowledge in the actual level of seriousness in situations.
