Fontana Police Department - A Culture of Corruption and Cowardice…read more If I could give zero stars, I would. My experience with the Fontana Police Department has been nothing short of traumatic -- and it starts with Officer Gustavo Moreno and ends with Chief Michael Dorsey. Officer Moreno is an alcoholic, unprofessional, and reckless. Instead of protecting the community, he used his badge to intimidate and harass. He acted out of ego and impulse, not duty -- and the fact that he's still connected to this department is a disgrace. He's no longer on the streets, and I'm guessing that's not by choice. When a 22-year veteran ends up working the Enterprise Rent-A-Car fleet, that says everything you need to know about how far he's fallen -- and how much the department has tried to quietly sweep it under the rug. But the real betrayal came from Chief Michael Dorsey. This man made me wait through an entire City Council meeting just to gaslight me into apologizing for Officer Moreno's "hurt feelings." He told me a video of the incident existed -- but when I submitted a legal Public Records Act request, the City of Fontana responded: "No such video exists." So either the Chief lied on public record... or the city illegally destroyed evidence. Either way, I've been left in the dark -- no resolution, no accountability, no apology. This department has a deep-rooted culture of cover-ups, favoritism, and sexual misconduct. Multiple officers are involved in relationships with each other, promotions are handed out based on who you're sleeping with, and complaints are buried. I've submitted multiple PRA requests asking for answers -- and I'm not stopping. If you care about transparency, justice, or public service, look elsewhere -- because Fontana PD has proven they stand for none of those things. The leadership is a disgrace. The silence is cowardly. And the damage they've done to me and others is something they will never be able to erase. Do better. Or step down.

CONTEXT For context, my younger brother was involved in an accident where a woman ran a red light while he was actively turning on a protected left turn. I received a call that he was involved and rushed my way over INTERACTION I was dropped off quickly to the scene and the first officer I engaged with yelled at me for my drop off location. I explained to him I did not know that was not allowed, was here for my brother, and I asked where we could be dropped off time. He cursed at me and continued to yell at me for this instead of listening to anything I had to say. I am actively telling him that I was unaware and I am trying to reach my younger brother who I have no idea is okay or not! He told me that did not matter and I needed to listen to him that I can't be dropped off at this location. His words included "Stop talking and listen to me," "I don't care about what you have to say, that's not important," and "stop talking I don't care about that, you can check on your brother later" with a sprinkle of F bombs. All of this because I was dropped off in a closed lane of the road THAT THEY SECTIONED OFF that no one was driving in. I can acknowledge that I was in the wrong of the drop off location if that is legally true (I also apologized for the drop off), but it's the manner of speaking and engagement that makes the whole interaction disgusting. Imagine if that was your family member in a totaled accident and an officer is more concerned with this than the well being of the drivers involved or the concern of their family members. This was NOT a matter of safety or protecting ongoing traffic. This was a power trip of a lazy and compassionless officer. Do better. Read the room and communicate better. A tragic car accident is not the time to yell and be aggressive. It is the time to be professional, empathetic, and show compassion. Train your officers better. He also continued to laugh and make jokes with cars passing by who were making fun of the accident. He was saying things like "Oh yeah not too bad huh?" And "Oh yeah this one's not too shabby isn't it?" with cars hollering by. Terrible officer along with the other men who were there. They all were sarcastic and asked us stupid questions. One had told us he was involved with traffic for 10 years before his current position. He asked us if the car is drivable. The car is clearly not drivable and you can see that. Every male officer was absolutely terrible. You can tell how they treat citizens in their community. The only officer who was professional and kind was the female traffic officer who came for statements.

No one seems to bother to help me and they keep telling me someone will be out there. It is a Thursday between the hours of 9am-11am. Whoever is in charge really does not care FOR The people. I've been to other sheriffs stations before and they helped me immediately, walked out with me and everything as soon as I stepped in. Here they give you a monotone speech of what to do, only cash and call a number. Ridiculous.

As I was driving at night, I noticed the city to have a more suburan feel. I saw lots of railroads. I found out after the fact that Colton was the "transportation hub of the San Bernardino Valley, earning its moniker as "The Hub City." As the site of the famous "Colton Crossing" of the Union Pacific and BNSF lines, Colton's residents literally grow-up around trains." Cool!!!

The following has happened since 2024-Colton utilities charged $12,000 deposit. You read that right. To turn electric and water on. Previous building owner used a lot of power. Our bill since has averaged $250. Still have our money 2024-2025 Applied repeatedly for permits to work on building, improve building. Can't even get permits to temporarily work on it. From planning to engineering to fire, they keep bouncing the apps between them. Everyone is terrified of signing off. What do we do you may ask? Strip club? Battery Acid? Nuclear Energy? Nope, we bottle water. That's it. Colton contracts out review work because they are either scared of being sued, unqualified, or lazy. The people contracted care as little as the Colton utilities people do. Every conversation they bring up all possibilities to delay or reject the building app. Bunch of sissies scared of their own shadows. Spring 2025-building graffiti shows up. I write to the mayor and Tom Welch, Mr "Colton Means Business" who is a happy talker and can't get anything done for the City. I hope for help. Colton police DID call me Gaffiti abatement program maybe? NO! Told me unless I cleaned up the graffiti in 72 hours I would be cited. Obviously I, the victim, was the problem. I asked how, since I was not allowed to work on the building, I could clean this up. Was I supposed to violate the Code department or the police? I also asked if stabbing victims in Colton were cited for loitering as they lay on the sidewalk bleeding out or littering with their blood. No answer. Summer 2025-Building still unoccupied and not permitted. Now broken into. Iron bars on gates pried apart. Lovely local citizens smash door handles off and break into building. More graffiti. Left their meth pipes on the office desks. Stripped wiring on building to fund their habit. Now we are hiring a fencing company. Locksmiths, alarm company and electrician. I am so happy to have a building in Colton. I really didn't know what to do with that $15,000. The drug addicts of Colton and their partners at City Hall (maybe the same people?) have been so much help. Have I mentioned the homeless guy living in the car in the parking lot now? Wrote to the City again, no replies of course. They act like they are Beverly Hills or Newport Beach, granting a favor to do business in their 3rd world town. My suggestion: DO NOT locate your business here. And if you do. Have your concealed carry permit and know how to use it.
