Stretch your legs afterwards on the short nature trail behind the museum. There's a pond and wetlands though when we were there in July the reeds were too tall to see much. The restaurant next door (different ownership, I believe) is a good place for lunch before or afterwards.

My partner and I did the self-guided tour and immensely enjoyed ourselves, being able to move and read everything at our own pace. It was so amazing to learn about the local history in this way! Beyond the museum itself, which rotates shows/exhibitions regularly, the Hockaday Museum of Art is at the forefront of the art world in the Glacier Park, western, Montana history and contemporary art scene, here in Montana. They host: Arts in The Park, Plein air Glacier, artists retreats and a variety of youth art classes, to name a few. Along with their extensive list of contemporary artists who show their work at the Museum, they have a very impressive permanent collection.
