The Conrad is one of the most stunning residence-turned-museums I've ever been in and that's saying something considering I've been to dozens by now because it's my favorite style of museum that isn't an art museum. My partner and I did the self-guided tour and immensely enjoyed ourselves, being able to move and read everything at our own pace. It was so amazing to learn about the local history in this way! To know that over 90% of the artifacts are original?! That's almost unheard of. It really is well preserved. I wish I was local because I'd love to see the house decorated for Xmas or go to an event there! You simply MUST visit the Conrad! read more

I can't believe how much work went into the upkeep and making it look like it was when it was first built. What a lovely, historic home that you must visit when in Kalispell. For a history lesson about Kalispell, the Conrad Mansion is a great visit, with a lot to see and learn about. We visited the Conrad Mansion, intending to walk around the grounds on the fourth of July, but saw that there were Independence Day decorations and people walking around the grounds, as if there was an event happening there. Well, that turned out to be the case, as we learned from the friendly Conrad Mansion staff and volunteers that every year on Independence Day they host a public party here after the town's parade. It was the perfect time to experience Kalispell! For the event, they opened the mansion where admission was only five dollars per person. The house has three stories, and the rooms all have signage, indicating time period pieces and information about the purpose of the room and the Conrad Family, the founders of Kalispell. Mansion staff and volunteers are located throughout the space to answer questions. We spent about an hour touring the entire house. There is a lot to see and learn here. We had a great time visiting the mansion and learning more about the founder of Kalispell and the town's early days. I highly recommend checking out the Conrad Museum and supporting the wonderful work that the mansion staff and volunteers do. read more

What amazing house, if you love old history stop to see this home if your an architect person this is a house to see build in 1890s take a step back and think of living in that time in luxury, even a U.S. President stayed in the home back in the days. I loved visiting this house! We arrived on a weekday and didn't see any other visitors. You ring the doorbell to enter, and pay per person. I forget but it's 10 or 15 dollar for an adult. The woman who helped us was super nice and gave us some background on the Conrad house. She provided us with some details and let us take our own tour. Each room had details printed out to read as you walked your way through the mansion. She also came to find us towards the end of our tour to see if we had any questions. My favorite fact was that the house trim and all the finishes were made of Oak wood. Which doesn't seem that crazy until you realize Oak doesn't grow in Montana and the owner had it all shipped in from Ohio! read more

Arrived at 1015 am and decided to take the self tour versus the guided tour. The lady working the house when we arrived gave us all the information we needed upon to request. The mansion is cared for beautifully. It is highly unusual to have so many furniture pieces and artifacts original to the house. The grounds are perfect. The Conrad's had state of the art appliances and plumbing for the turn of the century. Highly recommend a visit. read more

Just completed our visit there about an hour ago and let me just say "Cindy" had so many lovely stories and an unbelievable amount of knowledge about the history of this family and the house. I have been to Hearst Castle, I have been to the Winchester Mansion, but never have I been so in awe to hear the things Cindy informed us of. She is fantastic and made our visit so nice. The history is unbelievable and the amount of original items they have at this house is just WOW! I really enjoyed my visit and would definitely go back again next time I'm in Montana. read more

We stopped by today for the 4th of July ice cream social and my family and I did the self guided tour for only $5 per person (normally with the guided tour it's $15 for adults). I loved seeing the fashion throughout the years and all the beautiful home decor and interior design details. Definitely a must go if you're in Kalispell and enjoy history. Today was the day to do it with ice cream for a $2 suggested donation, lemonade for $1 and hot dogs and hamburgers also available. There were even gluten free options. The band was playing and what seemed like close to the whole town was there but the lines moved quick. Such a great day! read more

Being tourists in town we decided to try this place out. Tours are every so often and we ended up being the only ones in our group. Free parking on the street and public bathrooms across the street from the house make it easy to get to and have services. Gal on tour was nice, and I'm glad we did the full tour. So many details from the tour that really give you insight to the family that owned the home as well as the Kalispell area. We really enjoyed the history and seeing the original items in the house. The iron/dry thing in the attic was amazing! The hidden mail compartments was sentimental. And all those classic toys. They do have a small gift shop and a donation bucket at the end. With the cost of the tour I wasn't inclined to donate more. Hopefully the locals will preserve this house, it's a gem in your town. read more

Even though from 1pm - 4pm they say it's a "self-guided" tour, Renae spent quite a bit of time walking with us and explaining details about the house, the family and their furnishing. This was by far the neatest tour I think I have ever been on. I had volunteered at the Ice Cream Social and had never been on the tour before. I have a disability and walking long distances is not exactly easy for me, but my tour guide said that there would be chairs that I could sit and take a break on throughout the tour. She was absolutely fantastic and went slow so that I could keep up. I was sweating like crazy by the time the tour was over, but it was so worth it and I had my daughter with me who was 9 at the time. I am so glad that I pushed myself enough to do it for myself and for my daughter! read more

We had gone to Kalispell to spend time in Glacier National Park and stumbled upon Conrad Mansion one day when it was too rainy to stay outdoors. The mansion really is worth taking time to tour, even if it is a beautiful sunny day. When the tour guide explains the history of the mansion, it really helps visitors understand the history of the area much better therefore appreciate Glacier National Park that much more. The mansion itself is absolutely beautiful inside and out. Both the men and women on the tour really enjoyed seeing the house and hearing its history. I recommend this stop for families. read more

Terrific place for a rainy day near Glacier. The price of entry is a bit steep, but if you appreciate old houses and conservation, it feels worth it. (Please extend the student price to students beyond high school. Seriously, higher education is expensive...) The tour is very thorough and informative. (Note: tours start ON THE BUTTON. Be there 5-10 minutes before the hour.) The guides know a great deal about the man who built the house, his descendants, the house's architectural features, and the cost and origins of its original furnishings and materials. The house itself has a lot of interesting history and gives you a sense of what life was like for [wealthy] people in the west in the 1890s onward. My only qualm: they don't let you take photographs, which is ultimately a disservice to the house and the people who've maintained it. Let people take pics so that they can show friends and family where they've been on Instagram and Facebook. That way, more people will come. As it is, our friends who live in the area hadn't even heard of the place. Though I loved the tour, I couldn't show anyone pictures of the place to give them a sense of what it was like. read more

Great afternoon activity if you are visiting Kalispell. I love walking around an old house looking at old stuff so I loved it, my husband enjoyed it a lot but I think he was done after about 20 minutes. The Nooks and Crannies tour was by far the best "old house" tour I have ever been on. They really show you the details of the house, like some original wallpaper (c. 1895), the lady of the house's shoe collection, a toy/boiler room in the attic...and more little personal family touches that are not in the regular tour.
