Kids are grouped roughly by age, and then work alongside adult mentors who help guide them through their projects or 'quests'. It's a really neat program and our child who is on the timid/shy side has really blossomed in this class that supports her love of creativity and learning while boosting her self esteem. She adores this class and the friends she's made there and can't wait to go every week. As an elderly woman, new to Illinois and not having driven for over a year, this challenge was almost overwhelming. From the minute I entered the office of ADDS, I felt comfortable. First contact was the very busy Kemyta, who was juggling phone, paperwork, walk-ins and still smiling. When she was free, she asked me a few questions, then showed me how to maneuver their website, which had practice tests and much other information. There was also a voice behind a partition - an instructor giving a lesson to a group of high school students. Kemyta and I discussed my tailored requirements including pick-up and drop-off as well as instruction for written test, driving test and all the crazy paperwork associated with an out-of-state elderly person licensing situation. Kemyta assured me that the owner Doug Whitmore, a retired state policeman, would lead me through the process. When I met Doug, I asked him to be very straightforward with criticisms because I wanted to get this right. In turn, he gave encouragement, precise feedback, directions and kindly-phrased criticisms. After each session, I received a detailed summary from Doug's wife Andrea, while Doug was off giving CDL lessons for truck drivers. Text messages and emails were answered in reasonable time. This group has so many dimensions but operates very compatibly. I was apprehensive about taking the test and asked if I should have one more lesson, but Doug said he thought I could pass and gave specific issues on which to focus. He easily could hae had another payment from me, but he took the high road (no pun intended). I passed all the testing and got a license. Yay! This company is like family. They care about your success, know what they are doing, kind, moral and truly a pleasure to work with.

I emailed more than I would have liked having to attend class late or even miss a class and Gilian and team were so understanding. I took Adult Improvisation Games Risk Taking with Jen and it was such fun! There was a mix of advanced students and beginners like myself, and everyone was extremely respectful and kind and created a safe space to experiment and not feel embarrassed as someone who had no idea what they were doing. Classes are a mix of games, as in the title, and exercises "performed" by small groups. Whenever I was watching the other groups I felt like I was watching a professional comedy show! Classes flew by. I would recommend to anyone looking for a fun breakup of the work week or to advance their improv skills!

So I waited over 1 year before reviewing Symbol Job training school…read more I have to say it was a really great place to learn an excellent foundation for the machinist industry. Paul was my shop teacher and he explained everything very well and I currently use it all on my job. I also like how they taught us a few side notes about finding the right job where you can learn and grow as a machinist. To date I am on my 4th job and here is why: 1st job was just an operator and they taught us to get into a place where you can learn instead of just making the same parts all day. The pay at $14/hour was OK so it was tempting to keep it but I'm glad I upgraded after 3 weeks. 2nd job was working on HAAS mills for $16/hour which is exactly what we learned on at Symbol so it was easy but I found it a little too easy. Just mass production and I also bought a house 1.5 hours away so I needed to change again after 4 months. 3rd job was where I really learned a lot. It was a small "Job Shop" with about 7 employees and we made very different parts all the time with tight tolerances. I made $15/hour here. We also had HAAS machines and used 4th axis turrets in them. They saw that I was a fast learner and I was ambitious to start learning Mastercam Programming and I got a good foundation in programming from that. Just like the instructors said, get the right job where you can learn. They got slow on work so I was laid off along with some others so I was only there for about 7 months. 4th job making $18/hour is setting up 5 axis machines making and mostly editing Mastercam programs to make adjustments in part dimensions although I need to take some of the online classes Mastercam offers for 5 Axis programming which is only $250/class but I want to push myself anyway. I see myself here for a while as it's an excellent skill to have with Mastercam AND 5 axis machines. Overall I got a much better foundation from Symbol than many of the other coworkers who either went to a different school or learned on the job. Obviously there is always more to learn and I don't know everything but Symbol got me started. Well worth the money. Get the right job where you can grow your skills and never stop learning.

Had a session a few months after a hip replacement. Arlette stretched my leg back way past my…read morenormal range of motion. I started to have pain walking back to my car, and I could not walk the next day. Had an MRI which revealed numerous fractures to the sacrum. This was even after I asked her to be careful with that leg. When I called to complain, wasn't even given a refund for the session, or even an apology. Still recovering 3 months later with the help of caregivers. Would certainly not recommend this place.
