Generally, we had a good time; the food was a bit bland but good. Might have to visit this Stonebridge Hotel again to get a better vibe of this location and update my review.

If you are planning to go to GP and have no where else to stay (like me). Here are the watch-out: Breakfast - The food is okay except the lady works there acts like she was running a 500 persons banguet and looked very grumpy most of the time. I went to ask her for more raisin as they were out. She did not look at me but just made some noises as i was bothering her and replied "I need to check the kitchen" without any eye contact Front Desk - On my first day, I was napping so I put the Privacy sign out in the morning. On my way out, I asked the front desk to please send someone to clean the room. The lady at the front was smiling and looked all happy except I wasn't sure whether she was paying attention at all. I gave her my room number then she just kept smiling. And of course - no one ever came to our room that day when we got back... Restaurant/Room Service - This is the most bizzard thing. When their line is busy, you will not get a busy signal but a "the number you have dial is no longer in service" message. I thought I got the wrong number at first but later found out from the front desk that it just means that the line was busy and i had to keep trying. My overall impression with this hotel is that except the cleaning crew, everyone else didn't really seem to work in the Service Industry. I don't except to walk into this hotel and everyone greet me with warm smiles. But some decent humanly interaction would be nice.

On Tuesday, they had a sprinkler malfunction, on the seventh floor. Right above my room. They could not move me to another room, so I've been in the same room for two days with wet floors and fans running. I have to move the fans in and out of the washroom, whenever I would like to use it.

They are looking forward to being fully modernized. Lots of crystal chandeliers, sparkly button tufting on the chairs in the lobby. The room is well appointed, a couple of maintenance items I'll mention at check out. The facilities seem to be able to accommodate pretty much any size of gathering, wedding or special occasion. Two entrances to the lobby, and you use your room key to access the elevator. The Women's only floor is quite unique. As you exit the elevator, the Lounge and fitness room is right there. Snacks, tea, coffee, beverages in the fridge. A full jar of smarties, apples and oranges, granola bars, and I found some lovely crackers and cheese with strawberries this afternoon. Keurig with several types of Starbucks coffee and Timothy's English Breakfast tea K-cups. I did request that perhaps some other kind of herbal tea or hot chocolate would be nice, and wouldn't you know, the next morning, there was green & herbal teas waiting with some fresh fruit. Very nice. Oh, and there's a corkscrew in the lounge in case you forgot yours. ;-) Fitness room has a treadmill, elliptical and bike, some free weights, mirror and a ball as well as a water cooler. Towels and sanitizer for cleaning off the equipment when you are done. There's a washroom as well shared with the lounge. My room wasn't quite what I had expected when the booking agent said there was a dining table - I thought like the one in the first photo. The dining table is like a dining in bed table tray on wheels, but made of nice dark stained wood. As I set up a number of computers to work on, I usually have anywhere from 6-10 units that need a flat surface. Lining up the sofa table, dining table and the TV unit, I had enough space for 8 units. It worked out well. It was very clean. No grunge on the remote or light switches, and ample power on every table or nightstand. It has a King sized bed with great pillows, a cute little pull out seat in front of the mirror under the coffee/Keurig station with a bottle of water provided, a mini fridge & a microwave tucked under the TV. There's an iHome clock radio with a 30-pin iPhone/iPod port - you may need an adapter to use it with the newer iPhones, but an Aux cable, so you can plug ANY device in including an iPhone for music. With a power outlet on the lamp, you can charge and listen to your music. Bath robe, slippers, hair dryer, plenty of towels, a DEEP shower/tub combo, pull-out magnifying mirror for your makeup etc, and Aveda toiletries. Although the shower curtain is one of the nice current ones that has the sheer top to let the light in, it could use a whiff of an iron. Seems it had a rest in a ball before being hung. It's clean, I'm not worried about a few wrinkles. Means they at least care to wash it! Pretty quiet - although the walls aren't as thick as you'd hope. I can hear my neighbour sneeze, cough and their TV. And somehow there is a Rail line close by that the Engineers feel a need to blow the horn at night. My room is right next to the icemaker, but with the walls, I guess I only have one neighbour. Dining - they offer a 10% off discount for all your meals if you eat in at the restaurant The Office for hotel guests, as well, there is a lounge. Both seem well set up and are great for larger groups to have semi-private meetings and gatherings. GLUTEN FREE FOOD AVAILABLE HERE! I successfully dined on a lovely breakfast - they have gluten free bread, all the meats (ham, bacon and sausage) are gluten free. I'm not certain the wee potatoes might have been fried in a shared fryer - I'll ask tomorrow. Lunch that was catered for our meeting was soup and sandwiches, but WHAT soup and sandwiches! The soup was delicious egg drop vegetable soup. Really, really good. Also reheated well in the microwave in my room while I was working. Gluten free buns for the sandwiches, and there was lox, veggie, ham & cheese, and tuna to select from. The regular sandwiches were made with a nice white thick slice bread that seemed to be devoured happily. The Business centre is a decently sized alcove off the lobby, with a table and chairs, you could have a small meeting, and several PCs with plenty of counter space to work. Chair in the room and business centre are decent, although I find the dining table/ workspace in the room a little tall. Recycling bin as well as appropriate trash containers in the room. There is a pool and other water-type amenities, however, I haven't had a chance to check them out. Located next to a mall - although weekdays the mall closes at 6. Shoppers Drug mart is open until 9, if you need a later one, there's a midnight closing one a short drive away. There's a Moxies across the parking lot at the back of the mall, and if you have a vehicle, you can get to anywhere in 10-15 minutes.

While we realize you won't be staying at a JW in Grande Prairie but we do expect a decent hotel even in an industrial focused city. This hotel is right on what one might call hotel road, there are many choices within several hundred yards but this seemed to rate the best so we booked it. When we arrived and parked we noticed that there was a very big pool and slide. While we are too old to be sliding around we did find it neat. Once we entered the hotel you could tell that it was older but still very well kept, the lobby smelled good and looked clean, there were a few people enjoying the waiting area which was nicely decorated and well kept. The staff was quick to check us in and delivered a very positive experience (this is what moved this from a 3 star review to a 4 star). They were detailed about how to use the wifi, what amenities they had, the hospitality events and breakfast. Upon getting to our room we found it to be "ok". We've been stuck in worse but we expected more from a Holiday Inn (We're really loyal Marriott people but none were in Grande Prairie). The room was clean and shower free of mold, plenty of towels, soap, water etc (even plenty of makeup remover pads). The sheets and comforter were clean but the bed was quite well boring. It didn't seem to be too comfortable and there was not a lot of padding but we made due. As noted the room as clean and the carpet was also clean but it was in need of a remodel, the wallpaper was worn and stretched in the corners, the paint was there but worn, again, nothing that was dirty or unsanitary just in desperate need of a makeover. On the plus side the internet (complementary not enhanced) was plenty fast enough to even stream movie and TV shows if the abundant selection provided isn't enough. We didn't use the phones so we can't say how they worked, heck does anyone even use a landline anymore?

The staff are all friendly and the rooms are very clean. Of course it is a chain hotel so there is a certain level one expects and I feel this place goes above and beyond that expected level. Every Tuesday evening they offer "Guest Appreciation Night" which includes pizza, wings, veggie and fruit trays, wine and beer! There is a decent size swimming pool and standard workout room. The have a continental breakfast in the morning which I would say is a little below average - I stick with fruit and yogurt because everything else seems a little too processed for me. Every room has it's own climate control and they have superb air-con in the summer, I don't even find the units very loud. There are newer flat-screen TVs in the rooms and a good number of plug-ins (you can have a computer and phone plugged in without having to unplug the clock/light/coffee maker). The location seems good to me - it is about a $20 cab ride from the airport and $10 cab ride to the QEII Hospital. The theatres are 3km away and I was able to walk there in 40min and didn't feel unsafe. Across the parking lot is a Mr. Mike's, across the road is a Subway and down the road the other way is Marble Slab. Overall this is my hotel of choice when in Grande Prairie!

My company uses this hotel a lot.. but this was my first experience. There was lots of parking available, and most spots, if not, appeared to be energized parking spots. The check in process was quick and painless. The lady at the desk explained where everything was and I was on my way. The room was laid out in a pretty standard way. It was a business suite and included a sitting area with arm chairs, TV, microwave, bar fridge, sink, and coffee maker. There was a desk with a lamp, and the bedroom had a full dresser, two night stands, AMAZING bed, closet, ironing board and iron. Oh, and a TV of course. If I had one wish, it would be that there would be more plug ins around the room. Breakfast is provided and is more than your standard continental spread. You can make toast, bagels, there's a waffle station, cereal with cold milk, pastries, yogurt... and a different selection of hot food each day. The first day was scrambled eggs and home fries, the second day was cheese omelettes and and little dollar hashbrowns. The first day was much yummier than the second. OH! I almost forgot the coolest part. When I was checking out, I made a joke about trying to get the bed into my car so I can take it with me. And you can actually purchase the same mattresses for an INCREDIBLE price. Call the hotel for details. I was pretty blown away by this. And of course... free wifi with good signal throughout the hotel. Reasons for the slight decrease in stars: 1) The lights flicker for a while when you first flip the switch. Not just a little. 2) the CN Rail track is very close... it woke me up a couple of times the first night. luckily, the bed and pillows are SO comfortable, that I got back to sleep right away. 3) the hotel is only 6 years old, but the elevator sounds and feels like it's 20 years old. But all that together, when compared to all the good, was only worth one star. Highly recommended!
