I had such high hopes for this hotel. One of my coworkers is staying at the location North. Now I'm sad. And I cried. Then I got drunk and started smiling.
It was great....at first. Room was decent. Full-sized fridge. Oven. Dishwasher (I used it to wash my ball cap) and a separate bedroom with an LCD. The main room had a TV that didn't work too well with the remote. Power button was channel up. 2 was channel down. Never found another that worked. The channels are never correct with what the TV guide channel says. If I want to watch The Big Bang Theory and it's listed as 33, it better the hell be on 33 so I can nerd out. Not the case with this place. It was on 42. D'oh.
One good thing that kept me here was that every Wednesday, they have free pizza, pop and beer. Yes, free beer. It seems to be a trend with hotels in town, so I looked like an awkward fat man with 23 beers stuffed into my jacket, shirt, hat and pants going back to my room. No wonder people stay here.
My coworker had problems in his room. TV problems weren't the least. For one, we had reserved 2 king-sized bedrooms. There was one and the other was two queens because there wasn't another king available. To quote Seinfeld "You know how to take the reservation. You just don't know how to hold the reservation. And that's really the most important part of the reservation. The holding" To top it off, his bed was covered in hair. He asked for the sheets to be changed and they weren't. They switched his room. We left around 8am the next morning. We arrived back from the field around 7pm and his new room hadn't been cleaned. What?? Does it actually take 11 hours from the 11am checkout of other folks to clean a room for a person staying here?? I'm not surprised the parking lot is usually empty. It may be a shortage of housekeepers, useless housekeepers, crappy management or a mix of the aforementioned. I'm betting on all 3. It makes me wonder if my sheets were changed before I arrived. I won't stay here again. I'm going to keep smiling though. My buddy Mr. Appleton-Estate tells me I should. read more
