Angry waves! If you have a few minutes to spare this park is worth a stop. My first visit to the City of Fort Bragg was in March 5, 2011 and Pomo Bluffs Park on Todd's Point was the first place we visited. Revisited again during Labor Day. We walked along the ocean bluffs and admired, took some photos, of the amazing sceneries as the great angry waves of the Pacific Ocean hit the rocks below the cliffs. The park also overlooks the Noyo Harbor entrance. There is a short trail which is about less than a mile and benches are available for visitors to rest and/or enjoy the views. A paved walkway is great for wheelchairs and strollers. The bluffs are very steep, broad-faced cliff next to the ocean. Exercise caution when walking around the park. There are "Danger / Peligro" signs around. Stop and take a moment to read the interpretive signs along the way and learn something. It talks about its history, flowers, and animals. The weather was a beautiful 80°F, the sun was shining but depending on the time of day of your visit it does get windy up on the bluff top property so dress in layers. The park is located on the south headlands above Noyo Bay in Fort Bragg and there is a good amount of parking spots available. Review #0578

1/5/19 Gorgeous, spectacular view of the pacific! Walk and hike with care as it is a steep and dangerous fall off the cliff if you should trip and fall. The angry waves and strong winds made me a little lightheaded as I walked closer to the edge of the cliff to take pictures, so please be careful. It's just a short two minute drive to nearby restaurants, gas and hotels which makes it very convenient if you want to leave the hotel to watch the sunset. In calmer and warmer weather, this could be the perfect place to picnic and watch the sunset.

Perfect spot to catch a view of the Pacific. Waves crashing and fresh air is my idea of stepping away from our busy lives. Take a moment to just breathe and enjoy it. Ample parking and easy access to and from Highway 1. Bring a windbreaker. It gets a bit windy at the edge of cliff.

What: - View of Pacific Ocean - View of Noyo River, Noyo Bay and Noyo Harbor - Chicken Point - Abalone Diving - Excellent vantage point to watch the migrating whales - Deer in the farm nearby More Info: - Ample free parking at several places along the park - Free admission - No restrooms - Several benches on the park We entered the Pomo Bluff Point, parked our car in one of the spots nearby and walked along the coastal bluff to see the magnificent Pacific Ocean. It was one of those unusual days when the Pacific looked as smooth as glass. While taking pictures, an arbitrary person whom we later learned to be a localite offered to take a picture of us. We somehow struck a conversation with this amicable person who enlightened us about abalones. Here are a few facts about abalones that we learned: - One needs to get a license in order to go diving for abalones - When you get abalones, it is illegal to sell them; however you can offer them as a gift to other people - One is legally permitted to get only 3 abalones at a single point of time; anything more is illegal - A person can get only a maximum of 24 abalones in a year - Abalone meat is incredibly delicious - Abalone meat is sold for anywhere between $500 and $800 - The minimum length of abalones that one can pick from the ocean is 8 inches; anything smaller is illegal - It is illegal to use an oxygen mask and go abalone diving View of Noyo Bay - http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/pomo-bluffs-park-fort-bragg?select=_6mnNL-wfLBljP18GWTA4w#mBm-OmBGY6pfuCjy8IRKUA We then went to the Chicken Point in the park that overlooks the Noyo Bay. For several years, this was the place where seafarers looked at the temperament of the ocean waters and decided whether it was safe to go to the ocean or 'chicken out' and stay on the land. The park also offers amazing view of the Noyo Bay and the bridge above Noyo Bay. View from Chicken Point (Just a few minutes before sunset) - http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/pomo-bluffs-park-fort-bragg?select=_6mnNL-wfLBljP18GWTA4w#dR9Kb89jzn2UeOUtIQjTYw We noticed a herd of deer in the farms near the Pomo Bluffs Park. As recommended by our hotel owner, we returned to the park in the evening to watch the gorgeous sunset. That was probably the first time I saw the sun's reddish orange hue reflecting on the calm ocean waters and like us there were several other folks who had come here to watch sun set behind the Pacific Ocean. Nice place to come for the first time visitor to Fort Bragg…read more My wife, her mom, and I came to visit Fort Bragg (named after the same person that the more famous Fort Bragg in North Carolina is named after) on our way down from redwood forest parks to spend the night in San Francisco. One of the more famous tourist attractions in the area is Glass Beach, so named for the once plentiful sea glass that dotted the shoreline. It was stop number 12 (14:01) on day 5 of our road trip. It is located in Noyo Headlands Park, where there was plentiful parking, even later in the afternoon. The glass originated from a city dump that operated until 1967. There wasn't much left. Thus most colors of the glass pebbles were the common green, brown, and clear color of beer (and soda) bottles. To get down to the area where the glass accumulates, requires going down a non-paved hill from the bluff, so wasn't possible for Mom. We did get some good pictures of the area. And there was a cool carved piece of driftwood, resembling a whale near the benches where we sat, admiring the scenery.

I've been here more times than I can count, and it still brings me peace. My kids grew up playing here, climbing rocks, chasing waves, and turning every visit into a treasure hunt for sea glass. These days, the glass is much harder to find what's left is tucked between pebbles and seaweed, polished down by time and tide. But that's part of the fun now: it's not a guarantee, it's a quest. And even if you don't find much glass, the views alone are worth the trip. The walking trails stretch for miles with panoramic views of the Pacific, wildflowers in bloom, and seabirds gliding above the surf. It's accessible, beautiful, and full of moments that make you stop and just breathe. Whether you're a photographer, a hiker, or someone who just needs to reset, this place delivers. Glass Beach may no longer be a sparkling blanket of color, but it remains a symbol of transformation how nature turns damage into beauty. The peace here, the sound of the waves, and the memories it helps create are what really matter. Five stars from someone who keeps coming back. Bring your curiosity, your camera, and your respect for the land. Even without much glass, you'll find something special if you slow down and look.

Absolutely love this place!…read more I just wish that there were reviews on how to actually get to the trails/paved walking areas. So for all of you out there that are wanting a nice, serene hike/more of a walk and listen up! First, you're going to want to locate the Beachcomber motel (the green one). The , you're going to want to go one parking lot north of that. On your left side as you're heading north you will see a small parking lot. This is where you want to park. On another note, there is access to that pedestrian bridge through a residential area that is south of the motel. You'll have to map it because we did not come this way and I cannot advise you on how to get here. Lol. There are so many opportunities to walk along the ridge as well as paved areas that share space with all of the coastline motels. Your options are vast and you could easily get a 3 to 4 mile walk/run in this area. I'm actually not sure how much further down it goes because the pup and I got tired. Lol . If you're walking along the ridge, consider wearing pants. I don't recommend tights because there are a lot of branches and bushes that stick out on the dirt trails. Wearing some windbreakers or sweatpants is likely your better option. There are breathtaking views from anywhere you go along the coastline. Either from the paved road or from the dirt paths. I do recommend clothed toed shoes if you are going off the paved path. There are some parts where the sand is loose and other parts where is completely rock. This is where I wish I would've had my hiking boots on, but my running shoes held up just fine. As you get further from what we'll call motel row, it gets quieter and more serene. More importantly, there's less foot traffic and bike traffic. It is very congested by the bridge itself, both on the bridge and below on the beach. This seems to be one of the longest areas in Fort Bragg to walk or ride your bike. There are some cooler places south of Fort Bragg in Mendocino that are also worth exploring. ***PSA*** This is a special announcement for all you doggy owners. Please don't be that person that does not bring poop bags. Your dog is almost guaranteed to shit on that bridge and we witnessed it TWICE. Once from a very large dog, whose poop was kicked around. As well as a smaller dog, who had the case of the runs. Neither of those situations are flattering. If anything, they are embarrassing... for YOU. Forgot to add that parking is free and there is a restroom (use at your own risk).

You can easily spend your entire day here and never get bored. This trail goes on for miles on end right alongside the beautiful Mendocino coastline. The official parking lot is the one right across from Glass Beach, but there are actually several different access points to this trail. I started my hike from Mackerricher State Park and continued down until I reached Glass Beach. There's a paved pathway (also known as Haul Road) which runs along the coast and is great for a nice leisurely stroll. People with strollers and wheel chairs can easily navigate this paved path. And then, there's the actual coastal dirt path that literally hugs the coastline. This is the path I spent the most time on. You'll pass by tons of secluded pocket beaches and the most gorgeous tide pools along the dirt path. There's also a few up and downs, making this path a bit more adventurous than the flat paved one next to it. Access to the beaches down below are super easy from the trail minus the little bit of scrambling needed to actually get down there. You'll be hit with beautiful coastal views from every angle. It's pretty addictive actually. And the best part is that there are so many amazing little stop-offs along the way, many of them being super secluded. I was able to enjoy a few spots where I practically had the beach and the tide pools all to myself. Many people were wearing masks but a lot of people weren't. The good thing is, both paths are really easy to social distance on. If you're looking for a a beautiful place to hike or to take a leisurely stroll along the coastline, the Fort Bragg Coastal Trail is the one.
