Recently moved here from a different state. They denied our business when trying to buy the dustiest bottle of liquor ever and threatened to call the cops. Once we agreed to the cops being called to prove we are of age and our out of state license was real, he denied us and told us sorry. The only thing that is sorry is your business. I've been coming here since I moved to the area about seven years ago. Strange thing happened the other evening. I brought a 1.75L bottle of Stolichnaya vodka to the counter for purchase. The clerk tried to covertly remove a label that said "not for resale". I asked him what was up with that and he said "they're all like this". I asked him why he would remove this label then. I told him I smelled something fishy and that he could sell his bootleg bottle to someone else. read more

Pompano Discount Liquors has fairly good prices on their Beer, Wine, and Liquors. It is a nice shop with a friendly atmosphere. They usually have many specials going on. The staff is very helpful and not too pushy for the most part. They also sell cigars, wine glasses, and wine bottle openers. I've been going to Pompano Discount Liquors for years now and have spent thousands and thousands of dollars on liquor (gifts as well as personal consumption), a multitude of high end wines, and countless bottles of Champagne's and Prosecco's. But following what happened to me yesterday, I will sadly never give them my business again. I bought seven mixed bottles (spirits, Prosecco) and as customary, they have always offered me a 10% discount on six bottles or more, regardless of assortment. I referenced this to the gentleman that was helping me (just as a reminder), who said he would honor the discount. He was boxing everything up for me in a case, and upon paying the bill, he stuffed the receipt in the case and folded the flaps closed. I then opened the flaps and pulled out the receipt to reveal in fact he did not give me the discount. Had he just told me from the outset that he couldn't give me the discount, that would've been more palatable. But to be sneaky, thinking he was going to pull one past me, in my opinion, is why I will never go back again. I truly did enjoy going to Pompano Discount Liquors, but your actions yesterday have now prompted me to take my business elsewhere. read more

Hello, my family has shopped at Pompano Discount Liquors for years. The service staff have generally been rude. Recently, we went into the liquor store for alcohol and wine. I brought the box wine up to the counter and asked the cashier if they have ever had issues with box wine spoiling due to the heat in Florida. He was very rude, snotty and indicated only some people like box wine, whatever that meant. He went on to say, no they don't have issues with their wine and there are no returns on any alcohol period. He went on to say, you can't return alcohol because you don't like the taste. I hesitated, but chose to purchase the wine. We opened the wine and it was dark brown and a 100% vinegar. This Liquor person/owner? knew what he was selling and he chose to sell the product spoiled. I've been to this liquor store several times. They have a large selection of wines and liquors and their prices are reasonable. I've been to several of their wine tastings and I always have a good time. When you come in your given an empty wine glass.There are stations set up around the store. Each station offers a small sample of wine. They usually have some snack type foods set up also. The wines are nicely displayed and most prices are clearly marked. I recently noticed a separate small room for higher end wines. Beautiful. It may have been there before and I just didn't notice it. I would have a better experience there if the isles were wider. When the store's crowded it's difficult to get around. read more

Nice little neighborhood liquor store with a private parking lot and close to the house. The owner and staff are pretty friendly, and the selection whether it's beer, wine liquor or booze is comprehensive. I've gone to a couple of wine tasting events here also that are fun and informative. There's even a high end wine room which seems to always be where the stuff is I'm looking for. My only beef is the prices are sometimes higher than expected and you have to negotiate your way down to get what you want, kind of like shopping for a used car, lol. They're open 7 days a week, decent hours and have all of your mixers as well. If you can't find something in here to put you in a better mood you're in trouble. I asked specifically where a few items were located and they helped. They even offered a 10% discount if I purchased any 6 bottles of wine. And then, they carried my very heavy box to my car! Only been in there twice and have yet to make a purchase because, in all honesty, we do not drink that much hard liquor over the course of a year. Yes, they are nice people BUT..........I realize things down here are not like the 80's and earlier. Back then everyone posted full ads in the newspaper every week. You had choices and there was competition. No more. Now if you see an ad it is mostly made up of wines on sale. Which.....in case you did not know.......have the highest mark up and profit percentage out of all liquor. Anyway, it is what it is. What ticked me off and caused me to write this review is the experience I had today. I called them because Publix had a certain liquor on sale and I figured I would go to PDL if the price was similar. Much easier parking that at Publix which is actually closer to me. The gentleman who answered the phone basically refused to give me a price. All he would say is "we have it in stock". Now, unlike Crown Liquors in Pompano, they do not list pricing on their website. I checked Crown first and they were higher on this bottle. So I drive over to PDL because this is a "Discount" store, correct? Nope. Over 2 dollars higher than the Publix price. So I left. And yes, it cost me more time and gas to drive back across town to Publix. This is not about the money. I just refuse to do business with anyone who plays pricing games. read more

I just went to this store today for the first time and wow was I impressed! It is MUCH bigger on the inside than it looks from the outside. A nice man greeted me at the door and helped me pick out several wines that were similar to the brand that I knew. On the way out he offered me samples of a rum, and helped me pack my wines carefully. Great service, and good prices. I wasn't crazy about the wine that he picked out, but I was happy with the service nonetheless. I will definitely be back again. read more

So glad I stopped in here. This liquor store looks small from the outside but once you walk in you can see that they have a huge selection of liquor, mixers, wine and everything you need to have a perfect at home bar. The staff working is extremely friendly and helpful I found everything I needed along with some additional things that I think will make my cocktails even that more special. Prices are similar to other places that I have been and the next time I need something last minute I will be sure to stop in here since it's very easy to get to from where I live. read more

I can attest that their scotch and rum selections rival some of the larger chain stores, both in variety and price, and in some cases they have some rare single malts that are hard to find... This place is clutch if you need some good beer or liquor choices. Many places don't have the selection that they have here. I suggest looking for some IPA's they have since they have such a a great selection. read more

I have had 2 experiences here now that ensure I will never return. #1 was when there was a "special price" on some white wine. 1 of the staff INSISTED on picking out several bottles that were a different color from the other bottles of the same wine even though they were identical in every other way. I was assured it didn't matter. When we finally opened the wine a few weeks later we found out why - they were undrinkable and all 4 were poured down the drain. #2 was last week when I bought a bottle of a favorite single-barrel Bourbon here. I thought the price was probably high at $79.99 but Total Wine had told me earlier that day that they wouldn't have it in again until February. Imagine my surprise this afternoon when I saw this very Bourbon at Publix Liquors in Coral Ridge for just $58.99! So I checked with Total Wine for their usual price. This is our closest package store. It has everything we need for a fun night! The beer selection is fine for a smaller, locally owned store. it might be not be in the cooler but just plan in advance! Good prices for a smaller store- definitely pop in during a tasting! read more

Very helpful staff and great orices on hard alcohol. We stopped here to pick up some wine and alcohol to bring on a cruise and we found the place on yelp. I was plpleased with the selection and prices, although the wine prices were not nearly as good as the liquor prices. read more
