It had multiple layers, but they weren't fluffy and moist like at the Orleans location. The ironic thing is that at the Stittsville location, I bought it mid-day and paid full price. The cronuts I had at the Orleans location were part of the end of day sale, yet they tasted fresher than the ones in Stittsville. So my brother heard that the Orleans location had an end of day sale where after 4:30pm they sell off the remainder of their cronuts for $25 a half dozen. The donuts are $5.80 each regularly. When he arrived at 4:30pm he found out the sale actually starts at 4pm, but it was ok because they still had donuts left. He got a PB&J (Peanut butter and jelly), Raspberry Lemon, Cinnamon Sugar (they call it Sinnerman), Sprinkles, PS no L (Pumpkin Spice no Latte) and Vanilla (they call it Anastasia, which I initially thought was strange, but I think it might be a reference to 50 Shades of Grey, which I never read nor watched but have heard more than enough about it from my friends, lol). The PB&J, Raspberry Lemon and PS no L are all cream filled. The other ones don't have any filling. I had a quarter of each of the filled ones and they were fantastic. My favourite was the Raspberry Lemon one. I loved the tart lemon curd filling. I didn't try the non-filled ones. Cronuts are part croissant and part donut and all delicious, lol. I definitely recommend this Orleans location of Holey Confections. Since my brother bought them, I can't comment on service or ambiance, but I know they are located in a strip mall and there is free parking on site. (2)

The layers look really cool. It's more of a cronut. The donut/cronut I got wasn't cream filled, it just had a chocolate glaze with graham cracker dust sprinkled on top and a marshmallow cut in half on the top drizzled with caramel. I would have liked it more if there was a generous dollop of marshmallow fluff on top or something like that. It didn't taste particularly S'mores-like to me. I'm glad I tried it, but it's a bit too spendy for me personally. However, if you have the funds and like cronuts, I would recommend Holey Confections. Staff were friendly and efficient. The donut shop is co-located with Honey Cafe. There is seating inside and a few picnic tables out front. There are 2 parking spots in front of the shop/cafe where you can park for free in their private lot. I was lucky to snag one, but if they are occupied, it's street parking only.

Boston Creme: My husband said it was good, so I'll take his word! Maple Bacon: My absolute favourite. The balance of maple flavour and bacon was perfect--the flavours harmonized wonderfully, instead of competing. Lemon Ricotta: My husband rated it a 7/10 but noted that the ricotta was a little wet and that he wished the lemon flavour had more punch. Overall, it was a good experience. Fortunately for us Ottawa folk, this wonderful place is only 57 minutes away (if you adhere to the speed limit). Located in a gorgeous heritage building, which only ads to the whole experience. Grab a half dozen, plus one, to eat in the courtyard as you listen to the water fountain do it's thing. Voice over: "Never in her life did this city princess ever think that she would be envious of people living in a small town, but as she was stuffing her face with a S'mores doughnut from Healthy Food Technologies, she started to realize that there was more to life than the big cities..." Voice over ends. Seriously though, the doughnuts are amazing! So I had heard of Healthy Food Technologies, which sells doughnuts fried in a machine that the owner invented that contains 50-70% less fat than traditional doughnuts, but hadn't visited until recently because it's in Almonte, which I felt was a bit of a trek from Ottawa for just doughnuts. However, my husband and I took a week off work for a "staycation" and decided to visit some of the small towns around Ottawa that we normally wouldn't visit. We decided to have lunch on Mill Street (their main street), and then wander around like tourists and conclude our visit with a dozen doughnuts from HFT. We even packed a cooler to bring the doughnuts home in the scorching heat. The doughnuts taste like regular full-fat doughnuts. They do not taste low-fat or healthy in any way, haha. Doughnuts are $1.50 each, 6 for $8.50, or 12 for $14. The specialty doughnuts are $2.25 each. We just got a dozen of the regular doughnuts. They do have some whole wheat doughnuts, which we tried and I'd say they are a little less tasty than the white flour doughnuts, but still very good. We got 2 S'mores (because hey, I love all things S'mores), a whole wheat apple fritter, a regular apple fritter, a whole wheat strawberry filled, a whole wheat honey glazed, a mango filled, a blueberry filled, a key lime filled, a Boston cream, a Canadian maple and a Dutchie. They were all tasty, but the S'mores was by far my favourite. It had marshmallow whipped cream filling, chocolate glaze and graham cracker crumbs sprinkled on top. I will be dreaming of this doughnut. There's free parking in the private lot to the side of the shop. There are some tables and couches inside to sit and there's also a picnic table on the front lawn (with a patio umbrella that's not fully functional, one of the spokes was broken). The donut was so fresh and incredibly yummy. I have no idea what was used to make the circle logo on the donut but it was so soft and creamy. It made me think of the inside of a marshmallow, minus being sticky. The woman I walked out of the Gala with did not want her donut (to my benefit). So I was able to eat one on my drive home last night and split the second one in half for my children who happily devoured it this morning. My oldest even mentioned how great it was without prompting. Any local business that supports CHEO is always something I want to support. Definitely recommend Maverick's and will be stopping by their shop with the family this weekend to indulge.
