It's a magnificent structure, and even incorporates some blue colour since it is a Seaside town, and it really adds a lot to the area - certainly it's one of my favorite South Coast stations. It's super extra large and is as Grand as the area requires, and now that it's a Premier League City (or rather was until very recently) the station is used even more often.

So absolutely gorgeous then. The old station house looks like a beautiful old pub or large cottage. It's one of the highlights of the town. It's little and old and beautiful and definitely prettier than the nearby railway station. The service is away from the main town and it just has a single track that comes down here. It's been a line for a hundred and fifty years now which is pretty amazing.

Viewed from the car park outside, it looks much like any other station, but step inside and you're transported to another world entirely. The Station Master is friendly and welcoming and the walls are plastered with pictures of steam trains, newspaper reports and authentic railway posters of yesteryear. Every nook and cranny from the ticket office to the waiting room is filled with little bits of history including old signs and signal equipment, and more personal items such as old suitcases with labels saying where they've been. Real care and attention has been lavished on this station, even down to silly things like soft covers on the metal chairs in the waiting room, and the staff and supporters deserve to have real pride in what they've created. Brilliant.

The…read moreCastle is always worth a visit - you get in free if you're a National Trust member, and the parking at the visitor centre at the entrance to the village is also free to members. Try getting there early-morning before the crowds. Interesting little shops and the National Trust Tea Rooms does the best cream tea ever - sit in their garden overlooking the Castle. There's also a model village. The steam train runs from the Park & Ride at Norden (just before Corfe Castle village), stops at the village before chugging through the Purbecks onto Swanage. A good day's fun!

It's on the line from London to Weymouth, and received awards for being the nicest medium-sized station on a couple of occasion. Indeed, it's distinctive for its beautiful turquoise and blue bridge that crosses the platforms. So it's pretty gorgeous, especially from a certain angle, and does a great job for the people who live in these suburban areas. It also works well with cyclists, and is close to Southampton and Dorchester and the Beautiful New Forest.

I know how old the Duck is, but what is the Swan Age?…read more Definitely one of the prettiest railway stations in the country in the tiny little coastal town of Swanage, with beautiful hills and ruined abbeys on the hill next to it. The town is right here in plain view of the platforms, and it's just absolutely amazing. They've done an amazing job with it, and it's the very definition of a five-star station right in the heart of the city. When in Swanage, I come here anytime I can basically. I've brought 2 different girlfriends here too (lol) because it's so beautiful. It can't be stated enough. It's utterly beautiful. You can't get too many trains to too many places from here because it's out of the way on its own little line, but it's well worth a visit.

It was one of my destinations as a kid, so many times. And we had great times coming here as an adult too, it was one of my bff's fave places in England, one of mine too. Haunting memories from throughout my life really. After the long train journey down to Weymouth this is where you will find yourself, at the lovely Weymouth train station that's a few blocks off of the water, hidden away in the town. It's busy and it's a nice holiday destination train station that always makes me happy because of all the amazing memories - and some bad ones as well - but it's still one of my favourite railway stations in the whole country. Having said that, it's really only one of my favourites because of the memories, and the truth is that the station is pretty bland and pretty typical. Flat and much less enjoyable than the city of Weymouth to the South. The old Weymouth station was beautiful, but they got rid of it in 1986 (just before I started coming here) because it was just way too big considering that Weymouth was no longer a very popular destination, which is pretty sad if you ask me. Now it's time to Wey up what to do for my next review.

The most handy thing about Weymouth Train Station is that it's right in the centre of the town…read more Walk off the platform, across the road, and you're two minutes walk from the beach itself and the main Esplanade. Unlike some stations that are miles out of town you could probably be off the train and paddling in the sea within ten minutes! Otherwise it's a pretty unpretentious station (been there since the 1850's) and is the terminus for all southernbound trains on the main Dorset line. Have to say, it's a very pleasant train journey down there, stopping at various small towns and villages and weaving through the lovely south-west countryside. The station itself is manned from early morning to late at night, there's basic seating available, payphone and toilets and snack facilities. That's about it really, but to be honest it doesn't need any more. It's right in the heart of the destination town and so close to all amenities that it serves it purpose - getting folks to the seaside!

This ferry takes from Sandbanks, Poole to Studland in the Purbecks…read more The distance by ferry is about one hundred and fifty metres, and saves a drive of around thirty miles. It is t the narrow mouth of the harbour, so is also a shipping lane. The ferry is a chain ferry, meaning that somehow a chain guides it across the channel. In the last couple of years a yachy got in the way but every one had time to jump out of the yacht. A motor vessel also got sucked under and there were fatalities. It is a roll on roll off ferry, and also takes foot passengers. The cost of a one way trip is now £2.50 which most locals find outrageous, If you are visiting, I would suggest you do one way by road as there is fantastic scenery. Or hop on as a foot passenger and enjoy the beach at Shell Bay. If you walk far enough you'll get to the nudist part of Studland Beach.
