This review is slightly biased because I love pop-up books. The more intricate, the bigger the smile on my face. Pop-up Bookshop specializes in pop-up or three-dimensional books. The bookshop has a stock of more than 1500 pop-ups and moveable books. In other words, it is pop-up book heaven. Aside from the massive collection - you can spend hours in there, opening and playing with each of the books - the wonderful thing about this store is the owner's obvious love of the craft. He's very eager to show you some of his favorites and the nuances of each of the books. There's a reason why pop-up book authors are called paper engineers and even if you are a pop-up newbie he will help you appreciate the craftmanship of these delicate creations. There is plenty of seating so you can take your time with each book, opening and discovering all the moveable pieces. Some of his books are new. Some are second-hand. But all are in excellent condition and a special treat. He also has an extensive stock of pop-up cards for birthdays, weddings and other occasions - much better than your run-of-the-mill two dimensional greeting card. I highly recommend making the day trip to Dordrecht. Explore the city and pop on in. He has an online shop too but really the collection is best seen first-hand. read more

41 Kuipershaven Pop Up Book Store..is the store just down stairs and residence on the 2 levels above? I lived there in the 70's..first level and the bottom was storage washer and dryer type area. Just curious. Dank ja! read more
