Was at the Popeyes in midland Texas off Rankin Highway and this is probably some of the best service I've ever received from any fast food spot!!! The ladies at the service desk were super nice and very helpful and for once none of them had bad attitudes. ALL my food came out fresh and I mean all of it and they even made my pies fresh. The place was even clean and didn't have a bad smell and my only complaint is that I live out of town and can't come back on a regular!!! read more

Popeye's is a go to fast food place for me, I generally love their chicken and eat there often. Unfortunately, the location here is close to my hotel so I tried it a couple of times. After my visits I'm really disappointed in this location. The drive thru line was long so I decided to go in on this occasion. The last time I visited I ordered nuggets in the drive through and honestly I don't know what went wrong with those. The batter on the nuggets was not the normal stuff that I'm used to and they were crumbly, greasy, and more batter than chicken. This trip I came inside and figured I would play it safe and order the regular chicken meal. My first impression was of a rude, gruff, counter person that spoke so that I couldn't really hear him. He had a crappy look on his face the whole time, like he was bothered to take my order. I ordered a 3 piece spicy chicken meal, all dark with a side of red beans and rice. After taking payment he muttered something and I asked him to repeat, evidently he forgot what side I ordered. Now, on to the food. Definitely the worst chicken I've had at any Popeyes anywhere I've been in the USA. Two drumsticks and a thigh, the drumsticks were overcooked almost to the point of being chicken jerky. The thigh had gobs of extra skin hanging off of it, also overcooked and dried out which is really hard to do to dark meat. So do better, folks. The past few times I've been, I've been met with attitude. I ordered 3, two-piece mills for my kids, I said "drum stick" "What you say?" "All chicken legs please" "White? Dark? Mixture?" I've never been asked that with chicken legs, so I repeat "all chicken legs please" and she replied with "uggggh, I said white, dark, or mixed!?" This is better than the Popeyes in Odessa, but most reataurants are. This trip was still disappointing because my wife loves Popeyes. She ordered a 3 piece with all white meat. It came out with dark meat. I told the gut who took our order and he asked to see the receipt to prove we ordered white meat, which really shouldn't have mattered. I pointed to the words white meat on the receipt and he walked over, picked up a wing and dropped it in the bucket and said the others were white. I ordered a 5 piece with fries for my son and I. They were out of legs which makes it tough for my son. They said it would take 15 minutes to get more. They were also out of ketchup, another strike when it comes to my son. So, I've been a fan for a while. In so far as fast food goes, few places serve a product as tasty. But, in all fairness, fried chicken as a business is usually pretty expensive unless you buy it from a grocery store. That being said, I have options. Service plays an integral part when selecting an option and I have to say, the service at this Popeye's leaves me reconsidering my options. First, let me just say, I know the food industry, I've worked it, I've stressed out over it, I've abandoned it. It's hard work, no doubt. But I can proudly say, I never allowed the nature of the job to interfere with the job description, and that is customer service. Worst part about this experience was I believe I was being taken care of by the manager. I ordered the 12 Piece dinner with sides. I politely asked if there was a way to get half chicken and half strips since they give you the either/or option. I wasn't trying to be difficult, I don't see how 2 legs, 3 wings, 1 breast and 6 strips could have thrown a cog in their well-oiled machine...pun intended. At any rate, the lady tells me, flat out, NO. No explanation, no humor me b.s., just NO, ONE OR THE OTHER. Now usually, I'm one to question such decisions when they just seem irrational, but I had just come off a 12 hour shift myself, so I decided to pick my battles. To make things worse, they were out of gallon jugs for tea to go, not a big deal, but it definitely added fuel to the fire...and there was the distinct stench of old oil in the air, a smell anyone who's ever worked in or around a kitchen can recognize in an instant. I conceded, allowed her to be rude, and went on about my business. This experience may have never found its way to yelp had it been an anomaly, but sadly, this is the kind of service I get every time I go. Asking them any questions just sends them a sign of rudeness- we asked if they had any specials (as they weren't listed on the menu) her answer- "we have the same specials we've had for 2mths and the one posted on the window" - yea for one I haven't been here in over 2mths and now I remember why and for 2 - your window is not in a place that can be viewed at the drive thru- we were then asked to park in the handicap area to wait for our food, but we didn't as we had no sticker and someone who needed the spot may come along. read more

WAY better than the location in Odessa...the one in Odessa is complete trash and has poor management. The one in midland is awesome. They are always very friendly when we walk in, they actually make us feel wanted and not like a bother. Before they were the same as Odessa, but things have changed and stayed consistent which is all I ask for. The chicken is always made right and I almost never have to check my orders because I KNOW they are made RIGHT! Staff is Always courteous and have no problems making my naked tenders by request. I Love the red beans and rice, mashed potatoes and all the varieties of cream cheese pies when they are in available. Currently the feature is raspberry but the cherry andnstrawberry are awesome too and i am not normally a fried pie person. My kids love it too and have even chosen the green beans for their side item. It says alot about how good something is when a tween will order green beans over the other available sides. My only complaint is that I wish they would build a popeyes on the West side of Midland. I drive literally across town just to get my red beans and rice fix. read more

Picked up lunch a co worker ordered. He ordered from the wrong store but they got the order done really quick! The manager was a nice guy. Seems like he has good head on his shoulders. But what I really liked is that the store was REALLY. CLEAN. You don't see much restaurants that are just clean like that any more. The cashier was really nice. They advertise $5 Big box. Options are either 3 tenders or MIXED chicken. But they only offer dark meat. Not one white piece and one dark. At every other chicken place mixed means half white half dark. This place charges extra for their MIXED BOX. Customer in front had same issue. Advertisements are "bait and switch!" Chicken was old. The food is good - the service is terrible with rude servers. Order was wrong, part of order left out and drinks were wrong. For the last few months since the manager came back, things picked up with the service but today was not a good day for them. I had to drive all the way across town to pick up the sides that were left out. Got home and discovered the drinks were wrong. When an attendant can't even open her mouth to apologize for a mistake, I would say customer service is lacking. read more
