Just tried Popped for the first time today, it came to NOMA. I had cookies & cream. I opened the bag and was immediately nervous because it looked a little funny. OMG, it was sooo good! And the guy on the truck was super nice and cute :) Shush, I'm married. But yes, all sorts of flavors on the truck. I will try more soon. read more

Great popcorn! We ordered Americas's Favorite, white cheddar, and caramel drizzled with chocolate for our Halloween party. Each was delicious and lasted for a really long time. Great customer service from the owner! We hope to try more flavors in the future. read more

I don't know why there are so many positive reviews. They are crap. Expect an extremely long wait, especially at GWU campus. 10 minutes for 1 SMALL bag?? Popcorn is ok, but taste stale and extremely salty it made me pucker. The owner took no effort in being polite, just give me your money and get out attitude (typical DC). Prices are STEEP, much more expensive than movie popcorn. BIG THUMBS DOWN. Gave them a second, third and even forth chance! Consistently atrocious. Does it get worse? Oh yeah it does. About a year or so ago they started having major truck issues. This has been going on till this day. Don't believe me? Check their FB and twitter pages. ALWAYS broken down, at least 4-6 times a month. No set schedule either so good luck with them coming to your place. There are MANY other food trucks that have set schedules and abide by them. You would think after all the years they've been in business now, that they can afford to keep their truck operational or even purchase a new one? Not that I care, but other people like their crap. Do us all a favor, just stay away from them. read more

The owner is warm, friendly, and enthusiastic about his popcorn, which is fabulous! He'll give you samples of everything and suggest different kinds of packaging for your needs - tins, bags, gift boxes, etc. Every flavor is delicious - with fun names that reflect the nation's capital - but the caramel and chocolate varieties are to die for, and the zesty jalapeno is destined to become a family favorite. The tins make a perfect gift for Christmas, or any other family holiday, and the popcorn stays fresh for a long, long time. DO support this great new local business. It's a winner! read more

With all of the positive reviews I was expecting something really special. I tried the whitehouse white cheddar and it was ... Horrible. Just small crumbles of semi soggy popcorn with artificial cheese powder. Popped Republic has definitely captured that old fashioned mass produced factory taste. read more

I'm disappointed in my first visit to the truck. I got the Obama mix but it was stale. The cheese was suspect but the caramel was down right bad. Hard in fact. I was even more disappointed when I shared my poor experience with the truck the next time I saw them and was greeted with a shrug. No thanks - Stale $8 popcorn isn't worth the risk. read more

We went to the Popped Republic store and we were served by the Popcorn mogul himself. He was super friendly and extremely patient with our very indecisive six year old daughter. He let us sample a number of different flavors. My favorite flavor was the blazin buffalo was amazing. We ended up getting a mix of the buffalo and maple glaze. Our daughter got the cheddar and caramel, also yummy. The caramel was buttery and delicious. The cheddar had lots of flavor. My only complaint is that they don't have a location closer to my house! read more

Pretty delicious air-popped popcorn. Tried the Congressional Cheddar and it was light but with a bit of a chew (compared to the texture of Smartfood popcorn). Tastes homemade! A medium size bag easily doubles as a meal replacement and costs about 3 or 4 bucks. I'll be back! read more

The food truck guy helped me out with picking out the popcorn since it was my first time, however my popcorn came up to 5.50 and I gave him a 20 he said my change back was 14.50. We picked up a bag of kettle corn and a bag of white cheddar corn today. They are both excellent. The white cheddar popcorn is probably the best popcorn I have ever had. It was fresh, crisp, and perfectly seasoned. I only wish they had a location in Michigan! read more

Ran into the food truck on my way to a meeting. Got the Chilli Lime (small) and Jalapeno (Large). I am a popcorn connoisseur and know good savory popcorn when I taste it. These two missed the mark by miles (if I could give a negative rating I would). Tasted like a mix of chemicals rather than popcorn. If the popcorn were good, I would not rant about the price, but I can tell you neither bag was worth a quarter of what I spent. read more

I came upon Popped Republic when Googling that famous spot in Chicago. I wasn't willing to pay the Chicago prices, and decided to check out PR with a friend today. Oh my goodness! Such heaven! We sampled Heath Bar, Obama, chocolate drizzeled K St Kettle, and the buffalo one. We both spent WAY more than we had planned, but we got gifts in addition to some for ourselves. The employees were super kind and helpful, though they haven't a clue as to what "gluten-free" means (one employee thought Oreo crumbs in the Cookies and Cream would be safe). But if have few food allergies or just know what questions to ask, this can be great for anyone who can have popcorn. They do know which ones are vegan, if that matters to you. Enjoy!! read more

I am a fan of Popped! Republic for I absolutely love the K Street Kettle Korn. It is perfectly sweetened and lightly salted. It is addicting and I looked forward to my fix each week. During those weeks when I just need a healthy snack I go for the Political Plain for it is pretty much Air Popcorn - but that's what I wanted (no oil and I hope no salt-it is an acquired taste, I know). I also like the various sizes offered. I love Stella's popcorn as well for she introduces wonderfully blended seasoned popcorn that changes often so your taste buds never get bored. So having both on the DC Truck route is the best of both worlds for me (Sweet and Savory Seasoned). read more

I used to be a regular at their food truck but I am loosing faith in their servings. The last few times in the past month have been skimpy; half of it were crumbs and unpopped kernels. I know this was not just me either, there are other coworkers and friends whom have bought from them in the past and were also cheated. Their line wait used to be hateful; 10+ minutes for a small bag; it is better now though. Having said that, their popcorn is good but expensive. Think movie popcorn prices PLUS $2 bucks on top of that. Their food truck is ALWAYS out of service, you are lucky to get 2 days out of the week. Service is OK. My husband and I love Popped Republic. We first started following them on facebook after seeing their food truck around town, and then stopped by their retail location during the 2014 holidays to pick up some of their holiday samplers. We were sold... Their classic and unique flavors meet the high standards of many pallets (including our picky relatives during the holidays). After falling for this popcorn, we wanted to support this small business as one of our wedding vendors in April 2015. We first used them to send their popcorn samplers to "pop the question" to the bridesmaids... Being that they are located across the country from LA, to Chicago, to Nashville, and to Ann Arbor, I thought it would be a catchy way to ask them to participate in the wedding while also adding some local flair & flavor. We went back to Popped Republic again to order 85 special event sized bags of their capital cheddar to include in the welcome bags for our out of town guests. Our friends and family raved about the taste and texture of the cheesy popcorn, and we are so thrilled we chose this vendor to welcome guests to the city. This small business has excellent customer service... The owners are hardworking, and have always been very friendly when we have stopped in to place an order (or ask lots of questions). I am also impressed by the various flavors and combinations they have worked to create. Lastly, you get a lot of value (especially if using this vendor for a special event) in your order. The portion you get for the price is generous. We will continue to sample and purchase this popcorn, and look forward to recommending them to friends for future special events! read more

I visit this truck when it is parked outside of Foggy Bottom Whole Foods. I always order the Obama Mix which is their version of the traditional Chicago mix. I really want to LOVE this truck, because it is such a great convenience when I am in the mood for fresh Chicago mix popcorn, but I've only experienced the "fresh" taste on one out of three visits :-( The flavor is always good, but I have had a two stale batches. read more

I realy don't know why the superb reviews. Must be people that actually work at Popped Republic. First off the food truck NEVER goes out and always make some lame excuse; too cold, too hot, generator issues, etc.. You would be lucky if you see them once a month. When they do go out, the wait is terrible. How hard is it to pop freakin popcorn? Taste like stale crap where I can get cheaper at the movie's! I have been trying some of the Food Trucks that come to the 1900 block of L St, NW, where there are lots of office-workers. I am dismayed that they take so long to get your order ready (all of them!) when most people are trying to catch a quick take-out lunch. This was certainly true of Popped Republic, which should be even quicker - most people want to pick up a package of popcorn on their way back to the office, at the end of the lunch break. A ten-minute wait for a standard order (there are only a few choices) is ridiculous - what takes so long? The popcorn appears to be ready, and in my opinion they should have bags ready to be sold - almost as in a convenience store. Just don't want to spend my entire lunch break waiting for a side item, such as popcorn. On the plus side, the popcorn was very good, and the portions were generous (I had Obama mix). read more

I waited in line on L street, NW today at the "Popped" truck for over 10 minutes. There were 3 people ahead of my when I arrived. I have no idea what the problem was but since I only have 30 minutes for lunch, I had to leave. The same 3 people were in line when I left. Needless to say, I was very disappointed. I was introduced to gourmet popcorn while attending a holiday party last year. Also around the same time I was planning a budget friendly wedding, I decided to provide guests with popcorn as wedding favors. I searched the Internet and was able to find Popped! and realized the food truck stopped near my job on a weekly basis. In the process of taste testing the various flavors, my coworkers, close friends, fiancé (at the time) and family have become tried and true fans along with Facebook and twitter followers of Popped!. I decided to go with the Wolf Blitzer Blazin Buffalo for my wedding. SPICY :) It has a surprising kick that I wanted my guests to remember. Needless to say they enjoyed and remember the kick and now I have Christmas gift requests for Popped! from family and friends. I love Popped Republic! I'm a proven popcorn fanatic and I frequent the actual storefront more often than the truck and have had nothing but great experiences with both. The popcorn is delicious and they have such a great variety of flavors. I've introduced many people to Popped Republic and have gotten them hooked as well. I love the Obama Mix (cheddar and caramel), chocolate drizzled kettle, cinnamon roll, and salt and pepper (I think it's called the Smithsonian). And you really get your money's worth. They pack the bag by thumping it on the counter as they scoop in order to have the popcorn settle. When you grab the bag, you can feel how heavy and jam packed it is. I appreciate that they don't give me a bag that is half air (hint hint to another local popcorn truck)! Another great thing about them is that they have a loyalty card. For every 10 punches, you get a free small popcorn of your choice. I think it's great to be rewarded for my many purchases! read more
