Five colleagues and I, at the end of an amazing week at a work conference, we're in desperate need…read moreof some food. Getting in a little late to go to London, we turned our attention to something close to the Gatwick airport. After finally sorting our Uber rides, we were off to The Farmhouse. First impressions were of a traditional British pub experience, which was a good start. Our clumsiness of grabbing a table and figuring out whether we needed to go to the bar to order or wait to be served, surely gave us away as "not locals." Our server was friendly and provided us with our menus and took our drinks order. The one shortfall was that the menu had a number of items not available and with an assist from a customer, two of us needed a rethink on their meal. In all, it was 4 Fish & Chips, One Farmhouse Burger, and a Battered Halloumi burger, plus an order of calamari, and 4 tomato and garlic soups. There were zero plates taken off the table that were not empty! I had the Halloumi burger, which had a great, crispy batter topped with some guacamole mayo with a red sauce on the side. Really good. Then we doubled down and hit the dessert menu! Two warm chocolate brownies with salted caramel ice cream and four plum tarts. We asked for some custard on the side because who doesn't like custard?! Save for the debate about whether it was more a pie than a tart, another set of empty plates were the only evidence left. Would definitely recommend The Farmhouse!

We also go the Camembert, olives, and some ciders. This was definitely worth the effort to leave the airport, get an Uber, and then return to the airport. Cute place with good food.

Have been here just for a drink and more recently for a meal. Let me start by saying it is one of…read morethe best and most relaxing locations for a drink. It is situated right by Allington Lock and is just lovely, particularly during the spring and summer months. You can enjoy pub grub if you want something casual and can eat inside or outside by the water. If you prefer something a little more formal, go upstairs for a meal - you won't be disappointed. It is one of the Beefeater chain, but the service is great and the food was prepared nicely and was fresh and hot. All in all it was great and we will be returning.

The Malta Inn is set in a lovely location by the river in large premises offering both a restaurant…read moreand bar. Service at the restaurant regarding getting a table is quite quick during the week but at weekends this time goes up drastically as more people flock in for meals. Your best choice is to book before hand to avoid the typical half hour wait. The menu is actually quite limited with the menu mainly dominated by the beef options so not too good if you're a vegeterian. Other then beef you get a few choices of chicken breast, sausage and mash and other pub fare as well as lamb and fish. Deserts range from ice cream to warmer deserts such as apple pie. During busy times service to your table is slow. The bar itself is quite well manned and you will get your drink quickly unless the bar is really busy. There's a wide selection of drinks from spirits to soft drinks. If it's a nice night you can also choose to sit out by the river and enjoy yourself in style.
