And the best part is they are willing to add and change anything. All the picky eaters were extremely happy. We came here for breakfast/brunch and it was awesome. The staff here are friendly. But a warning the food does come out slowly - we waited a fair bit for the food. The staff were apologetic , as it was crowded, so that was easily forgiven. Sadly, the coffee is not as good as the food. It was alright, but honestly nothing special. If you are coming to eat here order the juice - that was amazing! They have different juice cocktails all as good as each other. Just a warning, this is not a well kept secret - everyone comes here. So it is crowded and busy most of the times, so be prepared to wait for a seat and then your food. However, it is popular for a reason.

I still don't get why this place is popular. I gave it a chance twice and I let down both times…read more Food is over priced for what it is. Staff are hopeless, they literally have no idea what they are doing and when you ask them for your coffee they act like you are inconvenience even though you've asked 3 times in an hour where the coffee is. Yes, we waited an hour for a coffee as we also had ordered food which was pretty shit as well. After the last visit, I won't be back. I always tell friends to steer clear.

They make their system so complicated that it is a big turn off. The food is not to die for anyway If you are a smart business person forget about bookings for breakfast. It is about volume & turnover ; Look at Nora Heads Beach Haus - thy have such friendly & professional staff ; lots of competition around. That's why we haven't returned.

I hate sounding like a snob but it just didn't have the right feel for me. It felt, for a lack of better words... rough and dirty. The 1 female toilet which also doubled as disabled and parents room is not enough to cater to the number of customers coming through. The layout feels disjointed. Tables out the front, back and forming a circle pattern inside with the service counter and kitchen in the middle. I've heard it can get very busy and that was evident today. If you don't phone ahead you may not get a table. Staff didn't appear to check bookings and after establishing the green notices were reserved (with your name and booking time displayed), I did a walk through and found our table. Pay attention to your table number as you need to order at the counter and the line doesn't need to be held up by people forgetting theirs. They have the tables mapped so it is also essential for finding where you are. Now to the food. I was in platter heaven! The 2 person big breakfast share platter looked amazing. Eggs, beans, toast, hash browns, bacon... There is also a pancake and Mexican platter. My double bacon and egg roll was cheap enough at $8.50 that I felt ok adding 2 hash browns ($1.50 each) and avocado. $3 for what I'd guess was 1/4 of an avo is a rip off though! My mum and step dads meals (big breakfast and eggs benedict) looked superb. I don't drink coffee but they weren't impressed with theirs. Our 3 meals and 3 drinks came in just over $60 which is very reasonable. Freak shakes were a popular choice. Colourful, edgy and so indulgent.

We really liked the chilled ambiance and the friendly staff. But a fine restaurant isn't only about good ambiance and fun staff. Before sounding like an old grandpa complaining, here are some reasons why your experience in the lake house might be different to ours: -Maybe the chef wasn't in a good mood that day. It was, after all, a gloomy rainy day. -Or maybe our expectations were too high after reading all the reviews here. -Or maybe because we came in a big-ish group (13 in total, an unlucky number too, some may believe). But the famous lake house didn't live up to my expectations for the following reasons: 1. The food simply took too long to arrive. We ordered by 1pm and food didn't arrive til almost an hour later. Granted that we weren't a small group, but the restaurant was half empty and it wasn't well communicated that it would take that long to cook. 2. The flavour was quite bland for most dishes. It was as if the pasta was left to boil for too long, and there wasn't enough salt to season the burgers. The dishes came out with inconsistent quality. Some dishes, like the fish and chips and chicken, were quite good; while others didn't live up to the premium price they charged. Hopefully your experience will be on par with the previous positive reviews.. I think we were just unlucky. Maybe the trick is to do the opposite of what we've done: go in a small group less than 13, have low expectations, and bribe the chef with some lollies. Good luck.
