They also have lots of vintage clothing including shirts, jackets, coats, dresses, and other odds and ends. Prices seem to be about on par with online prices, so some items are on the pricey side. I am a long time seeker of good old fashioned record stores wherever I go. You know them when you see them, they advertise new and used records and there's usually a lot of concert posters, cardboard cutouts of movie stars strewn about. I heard about Pip's Resale from a friend and finally had the opportunity to go check them out. WOW! While I'm not the HUGEST fan of retro-rare music/memorabilia, I can truly say I was stopped in my tracks by the TREASURE TROVE of great STUFF there is to be found in this wonderful hole in the wall (surprisingly DEEP hole, btw!!). If you can't find it here, it MAY not exist and/or I'm sure they'll find it for you!! I kept thinking how much my brother, a TRUE music aficionado, would LOVE this place... I stopped here on my road trip through KY. I loved it and wish I could have spent more time here. They have a large selection of vinyl in the front and some really unique items in the back. I found some cool new vinyl. The staff is uber cool too. They aren't pretentious. One guy walked me through their used section and gave me an opportunity to listen to the used vinyl. Then another guy saw that I selected a Beastie Boys record and we talked about them for a bit. P.S. during the time of COVID-19 they do enforce their mask policy. read more

Are you into vinyl? Then you need to make Pops Resale your next stop. Pops offers newly released vinyl, but the magic of this store is their preowned vinyl. Thousands of preowned vinyl, I might add. I have found some good albums here. Whitney Houston, a live Elton John album, and more. The vinyl inventory is VERY organized. It's first grouped by genre and then the artist. It helps finding the artist you want that much easier. I HIGHLY recommend following Pops on Instagram and/or Facebook. They typically post new stock every day. If you spot a rare record or one you really want, you can call in and order it over the phone. Pops also has a good selection of vintage clothing. If you're just getting into viny, they have some old school turntables and speakers you can buy, or new ones if that's your preference. The location is easy to find. It's right off Leestown road. The O in POPS is a portal. Jump on through their small door and enter a world where the sounds turn, slow and crisp. Your imagination can run wild - whip cream, Jedi, Nascar, batwing - you don't have to look far to find your fancy. Whether you love records - or haven't listened to one in a while - it's a comfortable space to take a seat at a listening station to hear a good set. Their vintage clothing is carefully selected - and I did indeed find the most romantic red dress there for a very nice price. I also grabbed a beautiful Stettson hat - olive green to match my eyes. I wished they had some cowgirl boots in my size - their selection of these is great, and I hear they sometimes ship them in from other states. In the back they also have some good grabs for accessorizing halloween costumes - which is always good to know when you have that late-October panic. Overall, POPS - as the owner is nicknamed - is an amazing person. He is creating community through such an inviting shop, and he opens up his stage to local performers. It's hard to describe Pop's, it really is a place that needs to be experienced. Retro video games, VHS tapes, cigarette filters, giant larger than life sized Marge Simpson statues, feather boas, local CDs, and of course a monster selection of vinyl and retro clothes. I can't say enough about the fun and friendliness of the store, it's been a favorite spot of mine ever since I was probably 11 or 12 years old. You never know what you'll find, but it's hard to walk out without SOMETHING catching your eye. read more

love this place! it has a super fun feel. when you first walk in it doesn't look like much but in the back of the store they have racks and racks of clothes in great condition. pop's has a lot of unique inventory and feels more organized than most thrift stores. i do think it's a little bit more expensive but i think it's worth it for the overall atmosphere and pieces. read more

Great little locally owned resale store. You literally have no idea what you will find in this store, although they generally will keep some old video game electronics, DVDs, VHS, vinyl records, gas masks (for some reason), and a large quantity of vintage clothes and shoes. With it being Halloween and all, this is a great place to try for something unusual. Also, it's a great idea to always support local businesses. Sure, you could go to the Goodwill just down the block, but you're definitely going to spend a lot less time scouring the aisles for something good. read more

My trip to Pop's from Louisville was colored by several motivations, the first of which is that I spent a part of my childhood in the Meadowthorpe area off Leestown Pike (Burke Rd @ the corner of Forbes Rd) and so when I discovered that Pop's existed via Yelp it was an added enticement to see the old neighborhood. So, I made the drive down last Saturday afternoon. Leestown Pike has changed, of course. Some good and some not so good changes. But while the south side of the pike has become all Walgreen's and other generic stuff the shopping strip on the north side (and continuing onto Forbes on the north side) is precisely as I remember it as a kid. As other reviewers noted, when you see the narrow storefront you have no idea how large Pop's will be once you are inside. I thought having the cluttered office area as one enters was an odd choice, but no diff to me. Not the best first impression but I had already read about it so was prepared. Once inside, I made my way to the New Arrivals used section (it took me more than a minute or two to figure out the lay of the land...and I had to ask another customer to help me be sure). I quickly found several records at reasonable prices (one or two of which were in the "rescue projects" category but a very nice copy of Deerhunter, Cryptograms (2xLP for $12). I was already happy. There's a massive area of used vinyl that is not clean or even all that curated; mild disappointment compensated by the acreage of it. There is also a small bin nearer the counter up front that has cleaner, and more assuredly notable finds. For example, Sleater-Kinney's Dig Me Out (1997), the original Kill Rock Stars LP edition (no bar code) for $20. They also have a small but decent selection of new LPs (and I noted a price drop of $1-3 per unit over some of the Louisville shops). It wasn't across the board so that observation may just be a glitch. Naturally, after my purchases, I drove around the beautiful island that is Meadhowthorpe, recalling this or that childhood friendship lost and nearly forgotten. We only lived here for less than 2 years. But the sights and sounds were for me very rewarding. Glad that I made the drive. Now, about that traffic on Leestown, yikes, am sure it'll be better after the road widening is done. read more

I came across it completely by accident my freshman year of college when I was driving all over town trying to get the lay of the land. I glanced over at a row of small storefronts, and the vintage Nintendo neon sign lit up in the front window happened to catch my eye. From the size of the storefront, you'd think this place was no bigger than a storage locker, but looks can be deceiving. The moment you set foot in Pops, something's bound to catch your eye if nothing in the storefront window has already. A wonderland of all things vintage, Pops has something for anyone with a flair for nostalgia. Their specialty is vinyl records, with an ever-changing stock of tens of thousands of albums. I like to come in just to check out the classic video game carts and accessories they carry for just about every system imaginable. Plus there are comics, vintage clothes, stereo equipment, classic and modern turntables, and the occasional pinball machine. Pops has a stock is essentially a collection of all the good stuff you'd ever find at a yard sale or a thrift store. The trade-off for having it all laid out in front of you is that you won't be paying Goodwill prices. These guys are fair, but they know exactly what their stuff is worth. I once asked Pop (yes, that is what the owner answers to) how much a rare German Beatles record I found might go for, and he said it depended on the label, and proceeded to list off the differences between all six printings of that one record. If you're into music or just any kind of old crap you probably don't actually need, frequenting Pops is essential to your lifestyle. These days there's even a stage set up in the back for gigs so come check out a local band or two some Saturday afternoon. The owners do a lot to support the local music scene, and Lexington wouldn't be the same without their contributions. There's no question that Pops is the greatest store of it's kind in Lexington, so you owe it to yourself to go check it out if you haven't already. read more

My review pertains just to the vintage clothing and such- As the other reviewer said, the exterior look of the place is deceptive. I actually passed right by this place a year ago when I took my first trip to Lexington. It looks like a store for old albums and I certainly wouldn't have known their were vintage clothes, even if I'd walked in, without someone telling me to head to the back. So, to the back I went...and found some really lovely pieces here and there, but at pretty high prices considering how dusty and dirty the place and clothes are. There are some deals to be found in the clothing arena, but some that are overpriced. You will have to dig to find the treasure, but it's still a good stop if you want to check out all the vintage vendors in Lexington. read more

This place has always been around to cater to those looking for kitschy and out-of-the-norm stuff. Their vinyl collection is massive, and you could spend a very long time just flipping through and listening to things that catch your eye. They also have a selection of clothing in the back that will turn up a gem every now and then if you make sure to look through it all. One of my favorite things about the place is their huge selection of retro gaming consoles and games. I collect them and I will often find something worthy to add when I stop by. Most of the things are in great condition, too. There is also a good selection of comics and toys if that kind of thing floats your boat.
