I noticed all the reviews from this place were very old. So I decided to make my own review since I go to pops frequently. They have an amazing selection. Especially of seltzers and other cooled cocktails. They have an entire huge wall of coolers plus some more on the left side of the store. If I ever did not find something specific I was looking for staff was always willing to help me look. All the times I've done that I just overlooked what I wanted (which is easy to do with such a huge selection) and they have helped me. What I want from a liquor store is I find what I need, say hi at the checkout, and then they ask me if I want my receipt. That's it. And Pop's does that. I think if you expect more from a liquor store you need to adjust your expectations. Note: keep your boxes from your big liquor store purchases for moves! Both my father and I have always done this. We always have boxes with dividers for our moves. read more

I've been shopping here over the years. Went in today to ask for one empty liquor box with dividers to use for a move. Was told they were for large purchases only. I explained to them that I was going to use it to move 5 bottles of bourbon that I purchased from them earlier this year. Still told they wouldn't. Thanks for accommodating a long time customer. Used to be great, then they changed to Mink's. Then they realized the brand Pop's had developed over the years was really valuable and called themselves Pop's again. The problem is, that's all that's left of Pop's -- the name. The new store is less helpful, less organized, and less friendly. The only thing it has more of is cost. Yes, I can now buy wine at the grocery store (Publix OR Kroger) for less than what it sells for at Pop's. Even the cheap stuff like Nobilo Sauv Blanc is $11.99 at Pop's and $9.99 at Kroger. There is a discount when you buy in larger quantities, but that brings the price down to grocery store prices. They still have a wide variety of bourbon and some other liquors, for which they got an additional star, but this place is completely different from the 5-star Pop's it once was. Note that just about every 5-star review is prior to the 2017-2018 ownership switch. read more

I have been going to Pop's for well over a decade, it is really a great shop! Beer selection is good. Rum, bourbon, vodka selections always have a lot to choose from, at all price points (Can't comment on gin selection because i think gin is nasty). The store is well organized. Prices are fair, with some good sales regularly thrown in. Excellent wine selection, and whenever there has been something special I was looking for, Roger, who works in the wine department, has always gone above and beyond to get it for me. Excellent customer service also continues to the registers, where all the employees are quick to greet you and help out. Pop's also has a walk in humidor with a good selection of cigars. Prices go from $2 and up. The humidor is kept well, cigar quality has always been good. Haven't picked up a bad stick in over ten years. I have spent a LOT of my money here on beer, wine, booze and cigars. The rest of it I just squandered! read more

I. Love. Pop's. I'm here almost every week. This place is just a couple miles away and they carry everything I like. Their wine selection is top-notch; I've never even seen Screaming Eagle on the shelf anywhere but here...even at $2k/bottle. Good selection of both beer and bourbon (my other top two vices) and most importantly, they don't often overcharge for the hard-to-get items. My Friday July 20th, trip began with getting my tires check at Discount Tire. I noticed Pops across the street from the tire shop. Upon entering the store I was greeted with a welcoming hello. I wanted some splits of Prosecco. The gentleman that assisted me was so friendly and recommended I tried all three brands they had. I was so surprised at the price of $2.99 to $3.99 each. All the other stores sell the splits for $6.95. So I was pleasantly happy with the cost. Then another employee took my purchase out of my cart wrapped & bagged them for me. The owner or the elderly gentleman who works there needs to check himself. He will blatantly follow you from aisle to aisle watching you to make sure you are not stealing anything. Only gave them 2 stars because of their beer selection. New ownership has quietly raised the prices and now many other smaller stores have lower prices. Parking continues to be a problem and it is hard to get in and out of. My biggest complaint is that they keep many of the good things hidden upstairs. Getting sick of having to ask for my bourbons every time I come in and then waiting while they go upstairs to see if they are willing to sell it. read more

I've been to POPS a couple of times and have never had a problem. I went over the weekend and there was a cashier with dark hair and glasses who was incredibly rude. I'm not an experienced drinker so I don't know where anything is. I asked her where the bitters were and she pointed to the front of the counter where there were a million other small bottles. When I didn't react fast enough she walked over and grabbed a bunch of bottles and threw them on the counter. My teenage girls were with me, standing behind me admiring some of the pretty bottles, and she told me to tell them not to touch anything or she would ask them to leave the store. She could have been a little nicer. It was incredibly embarrassing because the other customers looked at us like what the heck is her problem. It won't keep me from going there, but I did not appreciate it at all. read more

I used to love Pops but over the past year or so the customer service has been horrible. There's no one in the wine section to help if you have questions. Before the remodel, if you needed a case of wine or other liquor they were quick to help. Not so much any more. Recently I piled 12 bottles of wine in my cart (cause I couldn't find the cases and no one was around to ask for help) and when I got to the checkout the cashier snarled at me for not requesting a case of wine and suggested next time I should ask. Soooo next time I needed a case of wine I asked someone (a long time employee who used to be great) and he pointed to the end cap I was standing next to and said "it's right there". That was my last visit, and from now on I will give my business to Bottoms Up or Total Wine where they don't treat you like an annoyance. read more

Poor Poor Poor - this used to be an establishment that was work visiting until the recent ownership. The new owner gouges repeat customers and unable to Hold to his word. He recently marked up an allocated bottle 150% while another one was over 200% then turned around and said that he had a higher offer from another 'valued' customer. it's not about the pricing as they are allowed to sell their inventory to their discretion. It's more of an integrity issue and doing what is right and holding his word! He's a lying POS and he will be losing my business as well as anyone else that I have discussions with. read more

Talk about out of the way. Way out of the way for most people, but somehow they get awesome and rare beer up here and they keep me coming back to find more treasures. Beer as treasure, odd I know. But they get it, on top of it, a good selection of liquor keeping this rich kids of Suwannee on top of their game for when they get old enough to do it in a bar. Thanks awesome parents for buying! I usually promise to buy half of the case, of a good portion of the bottles, depending on how the case comes. If its 6 packs, then I get two always. Pops is the epitome of what a great liquor store should be. Nice people with a vast knowledge about beer and wine that they actually keep in stock. I am always greeted warmly when entering by smiling faces and a boat-load of wine, beer, and liquor choices that usually makes my head spin. Luckily I have tunnel vision when I arrive or I'd be broke in just a few minutes. These guys have it all. Some of the other reviewers are commenting on the location, but it's not that big of a deal. It just means that Suwanee/John's Creek has a better spot for microbrews and lesser known vineyards than most. These folks always go out of their way to make sure I have what I am looking for, or at the very least recommend me something a little different from my usuals. read more

Cool small business to get your wine and spirits. It's on a smaller scale than Total Wine and More in Alpharetta, but they really do have a nice selection of vodkas, bourbon, wine, beer, and other alcohol. The staff is always friendly and ready to help you find anything you need. They are also very knowledgable about their products. The prices are good, and they do offer a discount with their card on wines with larger purchases, but not spirits. They have a selection of mixers too if you are in need of that, too. I am a big vodka fan, and they have all kinds of different flavors to choose from. It's a lot closer than Total, too, for me, so it's a place I will continue to frequent. read more

Fantastic Liquor store. One of the best in Atlanta. There are a ton of package stores out there where you can buy any random bottle but very few shops are equipped to actually guide you through your purchase. Pops is one of the few places you can go and expect good insight about what you are buying and what other options might be available. Plus as someone who loves Bourbon and appreciates the rare but delicious releases, their selection is fantastic. They always get a few bottles of highly allocated spirits. Wow. This place has gone to hell since they sold out. The aisles are unmarked. The wines are stacked on pallets. They don't even have shelves. Their prices are SKY HIGH. The personality of the place: NON-EXISTENT. And their selections of everything very limited. I used to go to Pop's a couple times a month for a few hundred bucks a trip. The store has a good supply of liquor and a decent cigar selection. But they cannot make up their mind on the rules of the store. It is not a state law that you Id everyone present when buying liquor. One of their cashiers does. Another will not. It is a hit or miss. Should you get a cashier that will Id the whole party and have a brother with you. You will not be able to purchase anything. read more

Close to my house and used to go here frequently even though it is slightly more expensive. My frustration is they keep the hard to find items in the back. Every visit requires you to ask the manager to see if they are hiding bottles in the back. I now go to cumming beverage as they put all they have on the shelf so I don't have to wonder if I am on their VIP list to get the back room items. read more

I pop in here about once a week. They have a great beer selection, especially if you love IPAs or are looking to try something new. As far as the liquors go they're a little lacking in some spots with a small selection of single malt whiskeys. But they really have just about anything you could be looking for. read more

I have been buying my wine from Pop's for about a year. Since moving to NE Georgia i have tried a bunch of wine stores .None , in my experience, come remotely close to Pop's. Their wine prices are the best i have found(thanks to the Pops club) , their people know wine and are actually friendly and very customer service oriented and their selection is as good as i have found. Today i went there and bought a fair amount of wine.They always offer to take it to your car but i declined (that wont happen again!) So of course when i wheeled my cart out to my car and started to transfer the wine ,after i picked up a case and moved away the load in the cart shifted and the cart overturned. Wine and glass everywhere...fortunately only 3 bottles broken...two of Pops staff came out immediately and not only cleaned up the entire mess, but then...wait for it...they replaced my broken bottles and refused to let me pay for my mistake! Today's experience was just one more reason why the only wine store for me is Pops!!!!!! read more
