By 8:30,…read moreannouncements had already started telling customers to make their final selections because the store would be closing "in an hour," and those announcements continued every 15 minutes. I was shopping for a newly purchased home and planned to buy a couch, a rug, and several other items. At approximately 8:30, I asked an associate how to purchase the couch and arrange delivery. She provided the information, and I continued shopping for a rug. At 8:45, I needed to use the restroom. An associate told me the restrooms were already closed because they had been cleaned and that I could not use them. The store was not closing for another 45 minutes. I then spoke with the manager and explained that I was prepared to spend approximately $1,000 but would have to leave without purchasing anything because I needed to use the restroom. Instead of attempting to resolve the situation, she justified the decision by saying the store closed in 44 minutes and only had four employees working. To be clear, I was not asking for special treatment. I was a paying customer asking to use the restroom during normal business hours. HomeSense chose to let a roughly $1,000 sale walk out the door so I could go across the street to Wawa and use their restroom. I also asked for the district manager's contact information and was refused. Apparently, sales must be so good that this location can turn away customers, close amenities nearly an hour early, and dismiss a significant purchase without concern. This was one of the most unnecessarily frustrating and poorly handled retail experiences I have had. I will be spending my money elsewhere.

The bathroom is in the back left and wonderful and always clean. The staff I've always been amazing. I constantly see them helping out customers getting things to their cars and being patient with them whenever they have a question. I can always find a good deal there especially in the clearance section. They are always getting new stock in, so I frequent there at least once a week. Some of the items that they have is carpet, bedding, lighting, seating, kitchenware wall decor, etc.

Two weeks ago, Sophia and I went to this Value City Furniture location to shop for a recliner sofa…read more After receiving a performance bonus from work, it was best to spend it on something truly useful for our place. Let's delve into the visit. We were greeted by one of the associates the minute we walked inside. The goal was to find a 3-seater manual recliner sofa which cost less than $700. They didn't have it on the floor but we sat on a 2-seater which was the same brand and make. He tried to suggest buying another piece of furniture to go with our selection, but we said no. After everything was set and done, I decided to do a financing plan which has been set for a year with no interest. The plan was to have the sofa delivered last Saturday, but was delayed due to a trailer being unavailable. So I selected Friday morning since Sophia was home for the day. The window was for 8:15am-11:15am, but they managed to arrive at 7:55am. And I received a $100 delivery credit. Not a bad deal at all especially with paying less for your monthly bill. A win-win for both sides. Value City Furniture will definitely be a choice the next time we select furniture for a good price. Till next time :)

When we walked in we were greeted, but followed almost the entire time. We needed time to talk, but we also knew it was going to be like that. Going furniture shopping is similar to shopping for a car at a dealership. Personally if we need help, we will find someone. But, when people work on commission they will do what they can to make a sale including adding their own opinion and provide possible false information. Our salesman tried hard to sell us on a couch and a loveseat. We said we only need a couch and only have room for the one. VCF is known for a certain type of quality. We knew that walking in. We generally get a new couch every 5-7 years or so. We ended up finding a couch that fit our family and what we were looking for. In the end between the sale and the delivery everything was ok.

The owner Manuel was incredibly friendly and welcoming, and he took the time to go over every piece of wood, where it was sourced from, how the resin was applied, etc. My wife and I ended up buying two beautiful wooden boards, along with a pink granite wine/liquor dispenser, and we'll definitely be back for more!! P.s. - they sell these beautiful Gozney wood/gas stoves that are perfect for backyard parties and making pizzas at home. HAD to include them in my review!!

I stumbled upon TLA's website and found just what I was looking for (and a lot more) -- a 6-foot live edge mantle. Unfortunately, I'm not local to the Hampton Roads area, so I debated whether or not the 3+ hour trek was worth it. Upon speaking with the store owner, Emmanuel, he offered to meet me halfway to deliver the item. He drove 2 hours to meet me in Charlottesville. I couldn't believe he offered to do that, but was incredibly pleased and impressed that he was willing to do so. He was very friendly and took the time to tell me about the wood, how it was treated and how to maintain it. The shelf looks incredible (as do all the other custom wood items I see on the website). Quality products, tremendous service. I definitely plan to visit the store to check out other pieces of furniture, but I'm hoping he chooses to open up a second location in southwest Virginia...otherwise it seems I'm going to be spending a fortune in gas :)
