I really don't recommend this spot. Disappointing bbq which was the top suggestion by waitress . The sampler plate had what seemed like raw mushy textured pulled pork which was left untouched , dry ribs that were ok, disappointing dry brisket with little flavor. Mushy accompanying pickles The fries that came with the plate were beneath the meat making them all greasy and wet. Geez. Some disappointing recommendation. Dining companion ordered the pork belly tacos which was told would be 3 tacos. Came in as a plate of tasty almost shredded pork belly that came with a stack of corn tortillas. A real mess trying to make them ourselves into tacos. Was a very expensive meal that made me wish I went elsewhere. They have a great menu and seemingly a good team at work there. This place has great food and excellent service! I highly recommend this place! It has a great mix of good and cocktails. I was happy I stumbled upon this excellent bbq Restuarant. I ordered the "La Guacamaya" torta and it had a great combo of pulled pork and avocado and for dessert the Mint Ice cream sandwich! I will be back for more! Ps. This place has, unfortunately, gone a little downhill since my first visits a few years ago. It's pretty decent KC-style BBQ that's good every once in a while, but the last couple times I've been it's been a little disappointing. Food comes luke warm and not hot. Ever eaten room temp mac and cheese? Some of the stuff is unexpectedly greasy, like grilled cauliflower. And they stopped serving chicken. My wife doesn't eat read meat so this was her only option (other than fish, which I'm guessing was just store bought and frozen), and it means we've got less of a reason to eat here now. read more

I came with rather low expectations. I mean, most US cities outside of the south have terrible bbq. However, I was pleasantly surprised by this joint. My boyfriend and I ordered 250g of ribs (St Louis style), 250g of brisket, and 250g of pulled pork. Also, we got a few sides: mac and cheese, blooming onion, and baked beans. Additionally, we ordered a Modelo Negro and té helado (iced tea). First, the ribs had a great flavor. Good smoke. Some bark. However, they were barely room temperature. If they were warm, they would be very good. Second, the brisket was fine. It had a good smokey flavor but it was somewhat dry. The bbq sauce was really good though, so that helped a lot. Third, the pulled pork was terrible. It was dry and had a very odd flavor. It's the cheapest, but I don't recommend it. Lastly, the sides. Mac and cheese was great. Good combination of cream and clump. Good flavor. The onion was super flavorful. It had great seasoning and the dipping sauce was the perfect compliment. My only negative comment about the onion is that it was pretty small. The baked beans came with chopped jalapenos, sliced green olives, chopped red onions, shredded cheese, and sour cream. So, it was basically chili. The beans on their own are bad, but it was good with all of the toppings. Overall, I really liked this place. They got a lot of things right. Also, the atmosphere is cool. They have a bunch of picnic tables on a covered patio area and you walk up to counter to order. If you want bbq in DF, check it out. read more

This place is amazing! It has outdoor seating and great ribs!! I think the hidden gem is the fried onion that opens like a flower!! I love it! Also, when is a fried oreo a bad thing?!?! Personally I prefer the Baby Back ribs as they are smaller so more tender and a bit more sweet, but many of my friends say there is more meat on the other type... It's up to you , both are amazing! My friends love to bring their dogs, and the picnic tables leave plenty of space for big parties! read more

If you're a western expat looking for a BBQ place, this spot will definitely hit the spot! This is not a place for veggie lovers, let me warn you. The menu is packed with meat, sandwiches and sides. They also offer beer and other drinks. The indoor-outdoor seating area features benches with a couple of umbrellas, and if you pay close attention there are veggies and herbs grown by the staff. They also have a rooftop little garden. The first time I was there I had the smoky sausage sandwich with fries - I was in-loved! It is packed with flavor no to mention the chips which had a very crispy coding to them. My second time I had a chicken sandwich and my partner had one of the meat plates and I'm sorry to say that both were quite dry however, the flavor was there. We also tried the deep fried broccoli which was amazing! And the mac' cheese was quite tasty. Go with an open-mind and ready to try new flavors and you'll walk away with a happy belly. read more

Porco Rosso is definietly a spot we did not expect while walking through Roma Norte. We couldn't resist when we saw the piggy, and it's a super hipster BBQ spot. No lie, I think it would fit right in SF without an issue. We ordered the baby back ribs, some sides like the corn and fries, as well as the BBQ burrito, because, why not? The ribs were okay, we didn't think the flavor really stood out enough. Funny thing was that we like the burrito the best! The place is cool though. This was a really nice place to go for a change of food for us. We were in Mexico City with our daughter for Spring break and just felt like eating something different than the delicious Mexican cuisine we'd need eating all week. Happened to be passing and liked the general vibe, so stopped by. I've had some great barbeque in my life, in places like Austin and St. Louis. While this place didn't top those, it definitely brought a smile to my face. Been twice now. First time got the mac & cheese and the bbq burrito. The burrito was enormous, had plenty of fillings that gave it a cool mexican/bbq combo taste. Used the pork as filling, which was really tasty. The mac & cheese was the real star of the show. On it's own it's amazing, with big noodles and not overflowing with sauce. I covered it with some of their bbq sauce and sriracha that made it even better. Really good stuff. Second time I stopped by I got the baby back ribs which the manager had told me was really good along with the blooming onion. Wasn't really impressed with the portion of ribs (only gave 3) but they were pretty tender and tasted great with some extra bbq sauce. The onion was small and hard to eat, didn't really feel as crisp as I would have liked. On my way out, I did spot a large party having one of the desserts (not sure what it was, but covered in ice cream), so will have to check that out next time. read more

I had read a lot about this place before going. Bbq has become quite trendy in DF over the last year and Porco Rosso sits in one of the hippest parts of the city. My assesent: the food lived up to the hype. I had numerous items from the menu and the pulled pork, papas vaqueras, and ribs stood out. The brisket was a bit dry. Mac n cheese lacked flavor. The place is not too cheap given that it's cafetaria style...but, again, the ribs and pork were great. read more

Opens at 1, arrived about 2. Was looking for good bbg. Reviews has promises which were not kept. Ordered Coleslaw. Thinly shredded cabbage with a somewhat sour dressing, had black sesame seeds, too many sesame seeds. If I wanted oriental salad I'd have ordered oriental salad, but not at a bbq. The ribs were back ribs, nothing baby about them. Evidently cooked the day before. Dried out either from bad storage or bad reheating. No succulence almost no taste. The high points were the beans, almost like American chile. Oh, the bbq sauce was very good. Not too sweet not too sour. Pulled pork looked good and the brisket is hand sliced. Those two could be their saving grace, but I'll not go back and would not recommend. read more
