I haven't had BBQ in years so I was excited to try this place out. We ordered to go since the place is very loud there are plenty of seats and tables but with a toddler he's a bit too small to reach. We ordered the meat, with Mac n cheese and biscuits. Extremely overpriced but I get it , does take a while to make. But I was pretty disappointed. Honestly the Mac n cheese your better off getting it a fast food joint. I would not come back to try anything else. It was okay. Staff was kind and helpful. read more

I don't know who told this guy who owns this shack that he knew how to Q. Just because he is a gringo means nothing. No meat tasted like it was smoked, the grease on the ribs I could have used to fry chicken it was like lard. I asked for pulled pork and I got brisket, then the best failure they weighed our ribs. So we were charged for the bone and the small amount of meat. Real BBQ joints charge for half a slab to a slab of ribs. The potato salad had uncooked chunks of potato, cole slaw was nasty. My new dream is to start my BBQ pit across the street from that one and run him out business because the way he cooks he totally disrespects the art of creating great BBQ. read more

Yesterday we visited and you can smell the BBQ from outside. It smells YUMMY! There's a lot of seating and it may look a bit intimidating when you first walk in. How does it work? Where to sit? There's people everywhere! But it's super easy! While waiting in line there was a super nice and friendly employee. We asked how'd things work.. He said grab a tray and check the menu that's on BIG chalk boards.. tell them what type of meat you want and how much of it, you'd like. They weigh it in front of you and you keep going down the line. Picking your sides and lastly your drink. Employees were super patient and not pushy while we were deciding. We appreciated that! If you purchase Beer- they'll give you a ticket and around the corner a bartender will pour your alcoholic beverage. Super cool set up they have Picnic tables everywhere! As soon as you're ready to sit an employee is right there, ready to help seat you. Each table fits easily 6 people. If it's just a couple- you'll share a table with another couple. It's Super cool and HEY maybe you'll make some friends. But EVERYONE was super friendly! Customers and employees! It was just a cool vibe here. Really enjoyed ourselves. The two of us (myself & Boyfriend) Spent a little over $600 Pesos - $30 USD (Not Bad- it included their tip) His plate Brisket, Mac & Cheese, 2 rolls, Bbq beans and a Craft Beer I got Pulled pork, Mac & Cheese, bbq beans, roll and refillable soda cup. Both meats were SUPER GOOD! Moist, flavorful, meat fell apart and they offer little cups for extra sauce. Mac & cheese was good! But I did take a star off because the BBQ Beans was such a let down, sadly! Besides the meat, I was really looking forward to trying the BBQ beans and from their website.. the beans looked so good! Yet, in reality it was soggy, very watery- you can't even see Beans in the pictures I took There's a reasonable array of different meats to choose from. Visiting from Florida where I've been in the BBQ business for the past 23 years.....and in the restaurant business for the past 38. Senor Nacho....not sure if he was the pit boss, general manager, or owner. He took us under his wing and made sure we got what we needed. The bbq was outstanding. Especially the brisket and pulled pork. Many beer selections, because what goes better with bbq? The sides were superb but I prefer the pinto beans....just the right amount of spice. Pinche Gringo BBQ I would like to start with the restaurant ,it is a very rustic bbq atmosphere and fun looking place. It was clean and organized and the bathrooms were sparkling clean . The customer service was excellent and the waiter and staff were very friendly and helpful with the menu . The BBQ food itself needs improvement for the prices they charge we ordered the brisket , pulled pork , ribs and sausage and some sides . The brisket had the tug your looking for in brisket but the smoke flavor was barely noticeable and pulled pork was the same but the sausage was a pinkish color and not from the smoking process and did not taste like any sausage that I have ever had before and tasted more like liver and did not eat it , I also want to add I was visiting Mexico City but live in Texas for 25 years and ate at places like Saltlick, Lockharts and Franklins BBQ and know BBQ very well the sides could be better not terrible but bland to taste and needs work . Just improve flavor profile or come down on the prices .This is just my honest opinion. read more

Overall disappointed with this bbq place! Ordered Kielbasa sausage, brisket sandwich and ribs. Kielbasa sausage was cold in the center - sent it back and the waiter returned it mildly warm, not much better. Ribs were also lukewarm at best, definitely not served at the right temperature. We also ordered the following sides: mac n cheese, coleslaw, potato salad and beans. All were meh ... hoping to add some flavor to the potato salad, I asked waiter for salt and pepper and he said they didn't have any. The beans tasted bland as can be, zero resemblance of any bbq beans I've ever tasted. Mac n cheese was creamy and cheesy but lacked flavor. Atmosphere is a 5/5, food is a 4/5 (but I've lived in texas so im picky). Food overall is very solid and definitely the best in mexico city. It would be nice if they had a wider selection of brisket -- in texas you choose how fatty/juicy you want it. My one complaint is that I used to go to their comedy nights regularly but stopped about a year ago when I noticed the jokes had taken a decidedly homophobic/transphobic turn (not from the owner, but from some of the invited comedians). BBQ away from the traditional bastions of BBQ in Texas or "down south" is not always very successful. Pinche Gringo really brought the essence, soul, and taste of the BBQ experience south of the border. If you are like me, a gringo, and looking for something very different and not like home, then this may not be your best option, but if you are homesick for familiar tasting food, then this place is worth it. The food is good, and it is fun. A word of warning, unless you enjoy self-deprecating humor as I do, then asking the details of what the name means, may not be a good idea. And don't ask about President James K Polk. The neighborhood is very interesting as well, and not far from centro DF. read more

Here's where PG BBQ really stands out. 1) The ambiance is fantastic. While many competitors have picnic table and cafeteria style service, Pinche Gringo also has some big flat screens making it a great venue to watch sporting events. 2) Pinche Gringo has roughly 6-7 different micro beers on tap for 50 pesos a pint. That makes it easily one of the best deals in town for micro beer. 3) They have numerous monthly events from comedy to US holidays to themed parties--all of which pack the house and are a lot of fun. read more

I can dream of the days and flavors I experienced in Delaware with BBQ pulled pork and BBQ chicken - then there is the unique and welcoming demeanor as well. The menu is small. 4 meat options. 4 side options. 10 beer options. 2 dessert options. Done. I tried the pulled pork, ribs, baked beans, Mac-n-cheese, potato salad, coleslaw and red Belgium beer. Everything was awesome. Prices are good too. I got the plate option of a meat and 2 sides for $120. Beers are $50 for a pint. The staff is super friendly and so fast and efficient. While I'm not a huge fan of BBQ, the name of this restaurant and the reviews, made me curious to check it out. I went with a friend who lives in Mexico City. The place itself is quite unique and inviting. It's set up like a glorified food truck with an adjoining bar, benches that serve as a fairly huge seating area, and restrooms for customers. Now onto the food - We ordered a pulled pork sandwich and ribs with two sides, Mac & cheese and baked beans. The meat was fairly good, the sides were mediocre at best. The guests next to us had the potato salad and that looked more promising. All in all the food was a 3.5, but the atmosphere pulls it up to a 4 for me.
