Let me start off by saying that the bathroom at the marina is not like a typical marina . Despite the old man's coin slot I saw when I walked in, the bathroom is more than clean. Not as pricey as the more popular Gateway Marina, Tottenville Marina has a certain charm about it. With amazing views of the Outerbridge and the burned remains of some old factory, I felt like I was somewhere other than Staten Island. To top it off, the people there are really friendly and more than willing to help my two inexperienced friends learn the difference between the bow and the stern.

These guys are good if your lucky enough to nail them down because everyone knows there the best so it is important to call before the season,otherwise it's harder for you to schedule what you need to be done. I borrowed their kayak for 2 hrs, bought 2 crab lines & a net & fish for bait which they sell here--all reasonably priced. The male owner was very nice & said he's been here for 14 or 17 yrs (can't remember). Also, as a lady, I really appreciate their clean & pretty public restroom!

The 5-person skiffs are the boats that do not require a boat license to operate. They have 12 regular skiffs ($100), and 5 skiffs w/ tops ($115). They open at 7am, but I would suggest getting there 30 minutes earlier and putting your name on the reservation list to ensure you get a boat. The skiffs are in pretty good condition, and they're not difficult to operate even if it's your first time. Life jackets and seating pads are provided with the rental. If you need fishing or crabbing equipment, you can get it at the store on site.

After getting completely wiped out after sandy like the other marinas, Atlantis was the only one open to full capacity with all new docks. If there's a problem,they fix it. They have a full staff of mechanics and detailers to take care of any problem you encounter to make sure you are in the water as much as possible during boating season. They have wifi on the docks, electric, water and a pleasant atmosphere. There's nothing more enjoyable then pulling up in the summer into my slip with the tiki bar and restaurant with live music playing in the summer.

We ducked into a slip at Sandy Hook Bay while making our way south from Port Washington. The…read moreweather unexpectedly picked up to near gale force winds, so this protected marina seemed a good choice. The protection is misleading, however. The steel plates creating a wall around the marina still allow wakes to enter, and then somehow seem to amplify them once inside. The SeaStrike ferry service runs regularly right past the marina, pulling massive wakes. As I got up from eating in our salon, one of these wakes came through and I was knocked to the floor... in our 47' sailboat. Our slip was on the outer dock right along that sea wall, so the ferry passed just a few meters away. This happened almost every time a ferry or other wake-dragging boat passed. One ferry, the Courageous, was the worst of all, and we called SeaStrike to complain. Early before sunrise the local fishing boats rush out to start their day, and they run right past creating a constant issue. Even though the marina has a No Wake banner posted, it's ineffective.
