Our June 2023 weekend on the Trinity Peninsula was chilly and foggy. Gayle and I joked that for an early summer day, Iceland was a warmer option. Yet even in inclimate weather, the scenic outports, the rural landscape, the friendly residents, and good Irish-influenced music made us feel right at home. Port Rexton beer seemed widely available for purchase in stores (Salted Stout anyone?), so at my suggestion, Gayle and I came in here for Lunch. She knows that Brewpubs are a favorite of mine and I thanked her again for indulging me. Ours was a perfect part of the afternoon. We ordered our delicious beers at the counter, along with delicious grill cheese sandwiches (mine with prosciutto) from the adjacent "Oh My Cheeses" "food truck". We sat comfortably in their "living room" by the fire on this cool and cloudy day. And since we wanted to stay "just a little bit longer" we ordered another round! Service was friendly and welcoming, just like what we experienced throughout our Newfoundland trip. WiFi was good and among the available reading materials was a local "coffee table" book about a Toronto couple who left city life 25+ years ago to start a B&B. They're still here and the title is: Taking a Chance. We can see why they did. read more

Great place to stop for a beer and food when hiking in the area. Cozy fireplace and lit candles make for an inviting atmosphere and a selection of games paired well with beer and meeting other travelers. Oh My Cheeses food truck offers a variety of grilled cheese and fry options, while Port Rexton Brewery offers a variety of beer, from light to heavy, sour to IPAs. I tried the Saltwater Porter and Horsechops IPA, both of which were pleasant and drinkable. They also have the most reasonably priced cans for takeaway. read more

Great Beer! Hours: noon to 10pm!!! This is the best beer we had in Newfoundland. It is well worth the trip. We came here 4 times while staying in Elliston. The brewery has a great ambience and a good food truck, Oh My Cheeses, serving grilled cheese sandwiches. The sandwiches were YUMMY although I didn't care for their curry fries which were tasteless. read more

The proud brew of Newfoundland. A pleasant brewery in a scenic town. Tried a flight of four brews, one was actually from another brewery across the peninsula. It was infused with pine needles and quite good. Our favorite was East Meets West. It was available on tap almost everywhere in St. John's. the brewery itself is basically a barn and has a mellow vibe. The girls working the bar could not have been more friendly and efficient. Pick up a souvenir hoodie or tank top or toque. read more
