I absolutely adore Porter SnoBall - they're a family-owned business who serve up the best darn snowcone in Montgomery County, hands down! Porter SnoBall is just a small stand in the same plaza as Familytime Thrift Shop, so just simply park in the dirt lot before walking up to order. You can pick from 4 sizes, from tiny to jumbo, ranging from $1.25 to $3.00. There's no skimping on the ice or syrup for any of their sizes, and with over 50 flavors, you can mix them to create your own special combinations. They're only open during the summer, which is a huge bummer (sometimes I want a snowcone even when it's cold out...), but it isn't really summer until you've had one of their snowcones. Check their Facebook page if you're unsure about when they're open (generally it's March - September). I've since moved away from the Kingwood/Porter/New Caney area, but any time I find myself in Northeast Houston, I always stop by. I'd dare say this is the best snow cone stop north of Houston. The ice is very fine which I love, the people making the snow cones were smart asses in a funny way, and they serve them in styrofoam cups which makes it possible to leave without spilling on yourself. Big portions, cheap and best in the area. I have to take my kid several times a week. There is usually a line but you get thru quickly.

New to the area, went here for the first time, and wasn't very impressed. I'd expected a lot more based on other reviews, but found a lot of disappointment. I do like how finely shaved the ice is and no unexpected chunks were found. However, you pay a very high price to get so little ice! The machine is just turned on and whatever ice lands in the cup is all you get. There is no care to pack it in and give you what you paid for. Also, there is no mountain of ice on the top like a traditional snow cone which is disappointing in itself. Long story short, not enough of the awesome finely shaved ice. I was going to get 2 flavors, but had to change it to 1 when I saw how much syrup was being put on it! Way too much syrup and with the lack of ice I could've gone to sonic for a slush. The flavor was good, but I paid more for this snow cone than a happy hour slush at Sonic. I might try the place again and ask them to make the snow cone right or just go to Sonic. read more

Decent snow cones, but will not return. Left today without a snow cone bc dark short haired lady is so rude and un-helpful. She seems to think she's doing me a favor by selling snow cones. We'll find another place that acts like they appreciate our business. We've been here several times and it's always the same rude behavior. Hands down my favorite snow cone place in the area. I have to drive by at lest three other places on my way, but they just aren't worth it. Porter SnoBall has the best flavors, value, and good portion sizes. The only negative things I would say are that I wish they had covered outdoor seating so my kids don't have to eat in the car and I would prefer spoons instead of the straws with built-in spoons. But, it obviously doesn't deter me from going there. ;) read more
