We used to get there on a Friday and put the tent up (we had sunny summers then), stroll around the pits and go to the large marquee behind the home staight, fantastic days. Apart from the Spedeweekend, racing was on a Sunday afternoon. Although Wimbledon Stadium was the finest, Ipswich was larger with a 1/4 mile raceway and held mega fast races with Derek Fiske 304 being one of the fastest in his beautiful silver Superstox. Stock car meetings are normally held on Saturday evenings. It is also the home of Ipswich Witches Speedway team, who usually race on a Thursday evening. The Stadium is easy to find with plenty of parking. Entrance fees to the Stadium varies. The food at the various catering outlets is ok, but nothing special. The Stadium consists of an oval surrounded by terracing. There is a grandstand but its nothing special.

I'm just here to talk about the venue. ...And what a venue it is. Okay I can see all the die-hards coming back. Yes it's the most amazing stadium ever and etc. They have fire and smoke and guitars and bass during the intros. So obviously. And apparently that happens when they score (not that I would know since it's an ever-elusive occurrence during my visits). It's just me, because I had to get used to an event that's more like a 2-act musical with Intermission. Good luck using the toilet in that 15 minutes, especially if you're trying to grab a drink and a bite while you're out there. I thought "surely I'm in the women's line" but no, we're all out here in line because nobody could live with themselves if they missed the only score of the night while in the loo. Enough of that. The staff are "helpful" as they help you not sit in the wrong seat. This is good because so many people think they're the only smart ones trying to sit down close in *not their seat. This is Britain, people, have some decorum and queue for your proper seat. The match was spectacular. I love nill-zed events. The pitch was immaculate. Don't you think of putting one toe on that perfect turf. The hometown boys were raucous. There can't be too much singing. The away fans were spunky. They also love not seeing their team score. But a fun time will be had by all. Secret tip: leave 2 mins before stoppage time and beat the maddening crowds back to the tube for a happy night back home. Or stay out till all hours celebrating. One day you'll win it all (maybe even this year).

First-Hand Experience: Have seen them play only once at home, when I was younger, though I've been to the stadium very recently (in 2011), and I've seen them play live away from home on numerous occasions, including in my hometown of Oxford when I was a wee lad. I think that watching them live in person gives me first hand experience to write a review of them. Anyway, the Tractor Boys (great name) were formed in 1878 and play in boring blue, and I think their tractors are sexy. They play way out East of England in a town where I had a bad concert and not much is going on here. They have a delightful manager named Mick McCarthy although Bobby Robson is the most famous manager they ever had. And John Wark perhaps their most famous player. They once played AC Milan in the European Cup. Wow. Alf Ramsey was a big deal here too. They won the league under Ramsay in 1962, and they won the FA Cup with Robson in 1978, which is a lot of success and fairly recent, for such a provincial team. They also amazingly won the UEFA Cup with Bobby Robson in 1981. Amazing. A lot of Ipswich players appeared in the awesome 1981 movie Escape To Victory (Victory in USA). All in all this team deserves a 4 for its great history even though it's not my fave team.

Super MILLWALL from the Den…read more Had a fantastic time. Going into this I always heard about MILLWALL being one of the grittiest teams in England and having I famous fans. Although not as crazy as I would've imagined, the fans are chanting the whole match, and the atmosphere is great. First-Hand Experience: More info about my personal experience at this stadium - I've watched one match at the New Den, in 2011 - it was half full which was a shock, and might be the reason why it only gets 4 stars. I'd heard about the rabid, evil Millwall fans, and seen them so many times away from home, and once in their old stadium as a younger lad. Not the case on the day I was here, but then the opponent was a lowly and unexciting adversary. It's a good stadium though, not as expensive as some of the others in London, by a long shot. I enjoyed my day, I was covered from the rain by the stands, I didn't get stabbed (people used to say that's what happened at Millwall games), and altogether I found it a lot more pleasant and also underwhelming than expected. I'll try it again for a much bigger game, one of these days... to see what the fuss is really about. So when I was doing my first tour of Scotland in 2011, I also hit up every single stadium in the country. My obsession with footy (soccer to Americans) is the reason. Every stadium review - like all my reviews - are based on first-hand personal experience, usually from multiple visits. It creates an intimidating atmosphere of course. It was built in 92 for 16 mil, and is the pride of South East London, with a capacity of around 20k. As you can see from the pictures, it's absolutely fantastic and the atmosphere is intense, but it would be better if it filled in the corners.

We did the walking tour and both guides were amazing...super funny, engaging, and full of great stories and fun facts about the team and the stadium. We got to explore all the different spots, take pictures and videos, and just really enjoy the whole atmosphere. My boyfriend was completely geeking out, and even though I am not that into football, I had such a great time too. It is definitely worth it, whether you are a Chelsea fan or not!

I've only recently discovered this area; Lee valley overall is a bit of a surprise. It's generally…read morea bit dilapidated, forgotten, overlooked. Sprawling over parts of East London that most people pass through without giving the area a second glance. No hipsters to be found here. What I never expected was to find so much sporting action here; least of all an ice rink. Indeed it is no Somerset House, in fact it's very utilitarian; but if you're one of those people that trains all year round to perfect those turns and build up speed, you'll be blissfully free of the obstruction of kissing couples who can't really skate to save their lives and only decided to come so they could 'accidentally' fall on top of each other. They have nearly 2000 pairs of skates ranging from UK child size 6 to adult size 13, they do crash courses and half term courses for children. It has curiously staggered opening times; starting at 1130 till 3, 5 till 7 and then 830 till 1030. Goodness only knows why. Come here if you fancy giving Torvil and Dean a run for their money.

Apart from my lack of grace, however, Lea Valley suffers from several of the afflictions common to ice rinks: the piped bump and grind R & B is unbearable; there is a resident population of local flash harries eager to shower the newbies with shaved ice from their skids at every opportunity and its overpriced for the equipment on offer. Having said all that, I like my local area that fraction more for being able to offer as different a night's entertainment as this. Just be aware, idyllic it ain't.

This is a local theatre that oputs on a superb range of plays throughout the year. It is a…read morerelatively new building and as such the auditorium is very well staggered so that nobodys view is ever obscured, however short they may be. It also gives a very open view of the stage area. The rest of the establishment is well maintained and there is a nice tea and coffee area which also provides light meals. Upstairs is a bar area and you can order drinks for collection during the intervakl as well as socialising at either end of the performance. Parking is situated in a paying carpark underneath the theatre iteself. The absolute high point in the theatres calendar is the Christmas Rock and Roll pantomime. It is truly exceptional every year and appeals to ages 4 to 104.
