But all that aside, this is a great stadium for a provincial team, with 30k seats and an absolutely intense atmosphere. The only thing is that some of the corners are not completely filled in and the place is a bit uneven and a little bit old. Bad traffic too. First-Hand Experience: More info about my personal experience at this stadium - I was here not too long ago and notice that it's not as grand looking as when I was a kid. I think they need some work on it at some point and it also cost a lot more than I expected to get in. The atmosphere is fantastic, though not as much as Carrow Road up in Norwich. But it's not too far off. I just think that in order to reach that 5th star they should either renovate and turn it into a modern palace, or they should lower the prices. I've been to most UK & US stadiums, due to lifelong obsessions with travel, sport & especially footy (soccer to Americans). Born & raised in England, I followed Oxford United (hometown team) to stadia all over the country at away games, and later Liverpool (fave team) around. Every stadium review - like all my reviews - are from first-hand personal experience, usually from several visits. In 2011, I was on music tour in the UK, and visited most stadiums for fun in my spare time. As recently as Fall 2014, when I was "stuck" in UK for 3 months, I went to hundreds yet again while travelling. I have pictures of me at most, which I'll post later. Also, when back in UK I'll take more pix, and add more stadia! *** return to regular review *** Prices are a bit high, the stadium was opened in 1884 and is a great way of going back to what British football used to be like.

After booing a Christmas party for 22 staff costing an awful lot of money. We attended the 'work' over 18's party to be met with staff not letting my team enter. All correspondence including FAQs etc were checked and no mention throughout the whole process of ID was mentioned otherwise we would have been more than prepared. ID for an over 18 work event!!!!!!!!!! Before we got in the door I had some of my staff in tears which then ruined the night. Following this there staff internally followed those staff around targeting them from earlier in the evening, they felt extremely uncomfortable and upset by the experience, as did I spending thousands of pounds! I complained to the general manager and received a response from him which basically shut me down and not interested. I advised I would be reviewing my experience to ensure others have the visibility. His response to me in writing and this says it all from a poor customer service standpoint was (I quote) "then I will you be sharing that you raised your voice and swore at my staff" If that's not covering your back I don't know what is! Really let down by such a large local business. Disappointed doesn't come close.

First-Hand Experience: I've been to their home games only once, and that was with local resident Jo, who absolutely loves them and Ipswich too, bizarrely. I loved seeing Ipswich, but Colchester left me uninspired and so did the tepid fans. Stadium is nice but it's so empty and so quiet, or at least was when I was there. The club doesn't really thrill me and are major underachievers. They play in blue and white and are one of my least favourite teams in the league for some reason. They're a lot higher than I feel they should be given their lack of support and web presence and atmosphere. They do have a ncie new stadium but this is about the club, not the stadium. That has a separate listing. Formed in 1937, capacity 10k, cool yellow away kit, they have been in the second tier recently amazingly, but never higher. Their new stadium is ok and opened in 09. They've never even won a division as part of a league, poor guys.

I was pleasantly surprised how wonderful the staff was. Everyone's super fun, silly but organized. The museum and tour were both great. The tour gave us pretty much all access to areas that on a normal day a fan would not be able to see! It takes you on an audio guided tour through the entire stadium pointing out facts about the stadium and history of the team. It was nice to walk around at your own pace and not feel pressured to keep moving. It was even nicer to be able to see the suites, player's locker room, and most of all be down by the pitch and sit in one of the players seats, but almost more important all of the staff were very friendly and helpful. At the end of the tour it puts you in the Arsenal team store which was very big and had almost any Arsenal item that you may want. So, if you are a Gunners fan and want to have a cool experience to get closer to your team go on the Arsenal Stadium tour.

First-Hand Experience: More info about my personal experience at this stadium - I've seen one game only at Keepmoat, and I was very very impressed by how shiny and new and state-of-the-art it is. It also has a very cool name. I came here with my friend Jo and we also went ot an Ipswich game. She's a sort-of fan of both teams and knew people there so it was really lovely to be with a genuine local. I was impressed by both stadiums and gave them both 4. On the other hand, it has open corners and is very nondescript and nothing special, so I definitely wouldn't give it more than a 3 and it doesn't create much atmosphere though it does look symmetrical which is, maybe, sort of, nice. Also it's kind of out in the middle of nowhere.

Bought premium tickets with food and beverage including in the Rose and Ball club. Pregame communication was great. We arrived many hours early as suggested. They had communicated to me about dietary restrictions and indicated they were able to provide gluten free food days prior. The trouble began when we were dropped off. There were no signs to the Rose and Ball club. We asked one guard and were sent to the opposite side of the stadium from the actual location. We asked another employee and were sent to a different club inside the hotel. We continued to ask for staff help and no one knew where the club was. 30 minutes after arrival or longer we asked the 7th person who was actually an employee of the visiting club who was clearing an area for the visiting club to arrive..he initially said he didn't know then a few minutes later chased us down and said he heard found out for us and pointed us in the right direction. Well, at least the visiting team staff was helpful. Well went to the club for the "premium" experience and it was awful. By this time (about 2 hours before the match) there was no place to sit. It was Very Overcrowded, uncomfortably so!!! We tried numerous times to get help finding or obtaining gluten free food. Each time, our initial interaction with staff was friendly and they wanted to help but of the 5 staff members we asked for help, only the last one returned. All others went to talk to a manager and never returned. The people working the food stations were clearly scrambling and very apologetic that they couldn't help. They said there was a QR code that could be scanned for ingredients for each dish but that often didn't work as most people can't get a good cell signal in the overcrowded area. We could not get a good signal. The workers said they used to have paper labels but stopped doing that and guests now struggle and they need to go back to the old system. The staff and the guests we're visibly uncomfortable standing shoulder to shoulder in a room where you could barely move your arms to try to eat and drink while you stood there feeling like a sardine smashed in a can. One staff member complained that this was ridiculous. He said they do this every match. They grossly oversell access to the club b to maximize revenue and the majority of the guests stand around uncomfortably and the staff is put in a position where they can't possibly provide good service nor help people. Well, I happened to agree. It was an awful match day experience. So very disappointing. I would never buy a Rose and Ball premium experience again.
