In A Nutshell:
-This is very poorly laid out port, as far as trying to figure out how to get to/from your cruise ship is concerned.
-The first challenge is trying to get here. You can take the train, taxi or bus to get to/from here.
-If you take the train to get here, please keep in mind that the train station is about a 20 minute walk to the port.
-That might not seem like a lot, but if you are hauling luggage around, it's a pain in the butt....so the solution is to buy a bus pass and use the bus stop across the street from the train station which will take you to the port. Do the reverse if you are finished w/ your cruise (however my Canadian friends were pretty pissed off when they waited over 1 1/2 hours at the train station due to the delays - they eventually decided to take a cab to FCO).
-After you disembark from your cruise ship, if you didn't buy a bus pass PRIOR to the cruise, you will have two options: take one of the handful of cabs (€200 to Rome) OR walk about 1/2 a mile and search for a cheaper cab.
-Uber is available BUT VERY LIMITED, there isn't UberX, the only Uber I was able to find was an Uber Van, after hailing it (it was about 25 min away), we eventually found a private driver (it was slightly cheaper, even after being charged €15 for Uber cancellation fee).
Overall, try to plan ahead and purchase a bus pass, it will make your life easier. Trying to find a cheap taxi OR using the train will result in A LOT of SWEAT ;) read more
