The place is friendly but efficient and the people there seem to make a real effort to get to know you a bit as a person, and friend. Everytime ive been in there to send mail they have always given me really good advice about getting the item to their destination quickly and safely but without paying out unnecesarily for more expensive services. Hence i trust them greatly now for impartial advice. They have a good range of envelopes wrapping tape bubble wrap etc if you need stocks, and they can give good advice and often set up Post Office accounts and services here. Id definitely say they offer a brilliant service and id encourage other people in the area to kleep supporting them, as id hate to see places like this under threaty of closure. Highly recommended.

The post office is…read moreusually quite busy in the mornings, at lunchtime and at the end of the day, so I would avoid coming to here at those times if you can avoid it. The post office has very competent staff and I have never once lost my temper in the queue or for inferior service by the staff. They also have a fairly wide range of magazines and confectionary and I am always striking up a conversation with the very friendly chap that works at the confectionary counter. He is slightly abstract in his thinking, but once you can appreciate his sense of humour you will be addicted to speaking to him. Good service, short waiting times and a pleasant atmosphere. Yes Moseley Post Office ticks all of these boxes. Surely this can't be a real post office?

But then I can't say I've been into any particularly memorable post offices before. Other than this one. Firstly, let me just say that the staff are all very efficient and know their stuff. But, for me, one of the pluses of this particular post office is the other customers. The diverse variety of people you get in Moseley appears to be condensed into its post office queues, so time spent in the queue seems to go much faster. Who knew that a post office queue could be diverting? The guy behind the newspapers & confectionary counter always has something amusing to say as well, just to keep you entertained on your way out. Of course, it's also in a lovely historic building too, which is a bonus. And I've never had anything other than good service there. So, it may only be a post office, but one perhaps slightly more worth noting.

Inside the store could do with a bit of a makeover and the shelves look empty which is never a good look for any store. It has a small range of goods but nothing spectacular and also has a small range of alcohol. Its ok if your just after a loaf of bread and some milk and a treat for the kids. The people who work here are a bit abrupt and customer service is not high on the list but if your lucky one of them may crack a smile.

I have a soft spot for this place because of the who the postmaster is. When I lived in Harborne…read moremany years ago I regularly used an off-license on Court Oak Road. Myself and my then housemates were in there on a daily basis and we had a sort of running joke with the owner - If we went in a bought a pint of milk, he'd say "No beer tonight?". The shop became known as 'No Beer Tonight'. When I moved to Selly Park two years ago, this became my closest post office and the first time I went in I was delighted to see that it was being run by Mr No Beer Tonight who, he explained, had moved out of the beer business and into the stamp business. Each time I pop in now I always have a chat with him and his wife (after all these years, we still don't know each others names - I should sort that out) and pass the time of day whilst I get my parcels, or whatever, ready for postage. This is a small post office but as it's a Royal Mail outlet it has all the services you'd normally expect. They have a small selection of goods for sale, but nothing like you'd see in a main or bigger branch. As the place is quite small, with only two counters, you take your chances when you pop in as you could either be the only one in there, or you could be stuck behind a few people, and we all know how annoying that can be. As an aside, this post office has a cash machine on the outside of the building. It's one of the only cash machines in the area, so that's worth knowing, too.

Therefore, you either have to have the right change, which I rarely do, or you have to pay by card. There are also a number or services that they do not cater for anymore (I am not sure why), but you can no longer get your car taxed here. However, the staff have always been polite and quite helpful when I have been in. There is nearly always a queue as it is in quite a busy location, but I have never waited agonisingly long to be served! If you use the post office for things other than general postage services, then I would recommend going elsewhere, however this store is good for stamps and such and they also sell packaging and a couple of cards.
