I went on the Black Friday sale and selected a board game to be delivered to a store. As it was a gift, I didn't want the recipient to accidentally open it when it arrived at my house. After hearing nothing on the supposed day of delivery, I called the store. They said it was in transit and would arrive in a couple days. I can only guess this was wishful thinking. 8 days later, I called online customer service. I waited on hold for 40 minutes. This is where the total gong-show begins: It was never even shipped. Supposedly, it's "in stock" online, but they just can't ship it. "Why?" you may ask. Well I suppose that's just one of the many mysteries of life. The cynic in me thinks they boosted their Black Friday sale with things they don't actually have. Which is illegal, by the way. It's against the Consumer Protection Act to have false sales. I tried navigating their website's "Chat With Us" feature to get some help. It's automated and entirely broken. It asks for your order number and your postal code and then just...quits. At least I know Indigo's AI will never contribute to the Skynet future from the Terminator movies. This thing is dumber than rope. It does literally nothing but waste your time. Which I'm realizing is probably the point. As to my experience on the phone with a real human after all that holding time: The CSR online assured me the issue would escalated. She said I would get an email in 2 hours confirming this was being dealt with. 48 hours after that, I still hadn't been contacted. I called back. I waited on hold for an hour and then they closed and I was disconnected. So, I woke up early and called them as soon as they opened on their time. 6 am my time. 20 min of hold. Then I was told that the issue was escalated, but that escalating it means I'll be contacted in 7 to 10 business days!!! Will they ship the thing they supposedly have? God only knows. Will it go out of stock while I wait? Probably. They are still selling it on their online store despite being unable to actually send it to one of their stores. This isn't a new product that is hard to get. It's been around for years. Will I get it before Christmas? Lol. Unlikely. I think what IS likely is that they'll try and refund me and they won't honour their sale. Just a giant waste of my time and energy. It's back up to $70 and I supposedly got 30% off. I can't stress enough that this isn't the fault of the people at this store. This is on Indigo's terrible online portal, pathetic customer service, and seemingly fraudulent business practices.

It shows that one has in this store, actually I can't find it with the help of the server. I don't know what wrong with this. Finally, I just bought another one instead. A little bit disappointed. After meaning to visit for over a year, I finally made the pilgrimage. My mission was simple: stop in for ink refills. I failed spectacularly. I walked out with a beautiful olive green Toyo steel box to finally give my calligraphy and art supplies a proper home, and a complete Traveler's Notebook system that has officially converted me from my Hobonichi ways. For me, the value is unbeatable--the cover is the main investment, and the ability to expand with affordable inserts is a huge plus. The staff were incredibly helpful and patient, guiding me through the Traveler's Notebook universe, even with the post-stationery-show crowd that had packed the store (which is why I have no photos!). The service was absolutely impeccable. This is clearly the place to go for a wider selection than the show itself. They carry the full lineup of Japanese writing staples you'd hope for, including all the refills and my personal favorite, the Uni Jetstream pens. On that note, I also grabbed a few Midori A5 grid notebooks to replace my Leuchtturms; their lay-flat binding is a game-changer for drawing across a two-page spread. The cherry on top? I had a 10% off coupon from the Toronto Stationery Show, which was conveniently just a 10-minute walk away. Coming from downtown, it's still incredibly easy to get to, with the 501 and 504 streetcars stopping right out front. Let's be real, quality stationery is an investment, so that coupon made the whole splurge possible. This shop is a must-visit for any paper and pen fanatic in the city. Just be prepared to leave with more than you bargained for and a significantly lighter wallet.

Easy to see, but parking is dicey as it always is along this section of Bayview. As you'd guess from the name, they carry a good selection of writing implements like Lamy as well as more affordable options (but you won't find a Montblanc.) They have wrapping paper you can buy cut to measure from rolls, and many high end greeting cards you won't find elsewhere. They have a decent but not exhaustive selection of notebooks and calendars. As you also might guess, there are loads of cute decor knickknacks, toys and puzzles, and personal items like wallets and purses. The best part is the uniqueness of their items. It's a good place to find gifts. I wound up finding a great Lego Animal Crossing set for a Christmas gift. The prices are a little high, but not outrageously so. The service on my recent visit was lovely. The lady obviously enjoys working there and her good mood is infectious. She had an especially friendly attitude toward the dog ahead of me with its owner in line. I'm glad they've continued to stay open. I always look forward to going in again.

This store is for folks who love to write, do calligraphy, or have a fondness for fountain pens and decent stationery. It is heaven and deadly. I decided not to go in. I knew that if I did, I'd be there for hours, wanting every fountain and calligraphy pen, and every ink imaginable. I love fountain and calligraphy pens. I am content with the pens that I have, so I did some window-browsing instead. I noticed Blackwing pencils on a desk close to the window. They aren't cheap! A single pencil will cost you $40. My not entering this store was a wise choice. Blackwing pencils are special in that they use high-quality graphite that rarely breaks. It is made of incense-cedar wood that makes sharpening it easy. There's a rectangular eraser on top, likely for flair. It's still crazy expensive for a pencil! If you are looking for a fancy writing instrument or quality paper, this store is for you.
