The time spent listening to the opening part, of the automated recording, about the times/ hours and what days of the week, we tend to forget why we called in Then we have the part about knowing the person's four digit extension and to enter it, if we know it. Who knows anybody's four- digit extension these days?? DMV doesn't even sign their correspondence, they send out. No name or department mentioned I ran a call center and I know from experience, customers don't have time to wait on hold. When you call a company, the first point of contact, if there is one, usually gets you to the right department, first and foremost. If a customer is put on hold, that's the time all the information about opening hours, directions, etc , could be included. Some companies prefer "hold" music, at this time. I always thought it's the perfect time for all the company information to be included.

Nice and free historic site of a childhood home for one of the nation's founding fathers. It's off…read morethe beaten path, but it's a big property. The visitor center has a small exhibit and an introductory film which is nice but the guide prefaces by saying it "focuses too much on John Dickinson" (?) The exhibit focuses more on the family and the enslaved/servants who lived there, which really rounded out the property, but we did come here because we wanted to learn more about John Dickinson. No gift shop, which was disappointing. The tour itself was very informative, and there was a big crowd visiting when I did. Again, the tour seemed to want to downplay Dickinson and his role in the American Revolution. Likely because he thought the colonies weren't prepared to go to war, he abstained from voting for independence, he is less remembered than other Founding Fathers, but I came to learn about him, and the guide wasn't all that interested in talking about him and what he did accomplish. Still, the furnishings were nice, and we got to learn about Dickinson's father, his wife and family, and his brother who all lived there with a focus on the lesser-known residents. I think that could have all been balanced better. The view of the river is lovely, and there are some out buildings and a garden to stroll through. It's a nice outdoor site, and for free, it's still a good site to visit to see history being preserved.

The…read morehouse was interesting to see, and there were a few pieces of furniture that I loved- such as the rope beds, the chair that was oversized, the large loom, and the travel clock that one of the Dickinsons took with him when he traveled. The guide was nice and interesting. That is saying a lot, because I can get bored very easily. She spent an adequate amount of time in each room. Before we took the tour, we had to see a movie, that was about 15 minutes long, mostly about history. We were the only people there, and I got up during the movie and looked at the other exhibits in the room. I would say travel here if you like history or old houses/furniture.

Forty percent of all shipping out of Baltimore takes this route. While such a deep scar through the middle of town would destroy most villages, just the opposite occurred to the formerly named Bohemia. In fact the "ditch" created an entirely new economic engine focused on canal related amenities, so that today, although it has the gestalt of "The town that time forgot," it is actually making its way in the present as a wonderful place to drive through, walk around the small downtown on the southern side of the C&D, sit for fresh seafood lunch or dinner, and if truly in passionate mood, reserve rooms in a local bed and breakfast. True, the old bridge was taken out by a tanker almost a hundred years ago, forcing traffic to divert to the edge of town where the new span Chesapeake City Bridge was constructed tall enough to permit modern ships to pass beneath without waiting for the former draw bridge to open, but this too became an interesting attraction for this timeless charmed jewel.

The staff is very helpful, supportive, and upbeat. We did a self-tour and felt very comfortable. Easy parking for private front or back parking and easy entrance. And by the way, when you see a pedestrian standing at a crosswalk, like one of the only one's in town by Witt's market.... STOP for us! The police in Wyoming are courteous, and I've even watched them give warnings to people they pull over. Also, one of them was nice enough to give me a ride home from The Wyoming Tavern one night when my cab wouldn't come! It's unclear whether the Chief of Police allows them to put bullets in their guns, but no matter. I like these guys. Last visit 12/04/11…read more BRAC has destroyed what was once a very nice military base and has turned Aberdeen Proving Grounds into a civilian military base. Sure there are some uniforms running around, but less than 25% of the uniforms that were there before. The demographics of the few uniforms that are left is drastically changed as well. Almost all active duty posts the majority of uniforms are lower enlisted, young people just starting out. This is not so here at APG anymore, the majority of uniforms now are officers who have been around for awhile. What does this mean for Base/Post Exchange, well it means that they are not selling enough to maintain and have to consolidate. Clothing Sales (Military Uniforms) is part of the PX, and it went from large satellite building to being put in the Main PX near the shoe department. Most of the time if you need something now, you will need to order it and wait for delivery. Either that or head on down to Ft Meade, which is transforming as well, but will keep the majority of their junior uniforms. The PX specialty shops are dropping like flies.... The beautician's shop, coffee shop, sandwich shop, the florist shop, and trophy shop have all bitten the dust within the last several months. The barber shop is hanging on by a thin gray hair, and so too is the pizza place. When I rejoined the military via the Maryland National Guard 7 years ago, this was a bustling post, filled with a lot of junior enlisted attending one of several AIT (Advanced individual training [job training]) courses. These young soldiers, sailors, airmen, and marines attending classes/training and rotated through every 3-6 months and many bought new stereos, TVs, computers..etc with each new class that arrived. Now the post has so few uniforms, it is so disappointing to see APG atrophy. BRAC has not only affected the PX, but it affects the daily lives of the civilian populace that once made their living selling goods and services to these young troops. In their place has come 5000 jobs from Jersey, mostly civilian, but a few military as well, but these people are established and do not need all those new stereos, TVs, and taxicab rides. I wonder how much longer AAFES (PX) can justify keeping the APG PX open.
