I had a package that was supposed to go Fed-Ex with an unusual United States Post Office label. The company that sent me the pre-printed label offered instructions for the Fed ex employee at pick-up. The incredibly rude Post Net employee said with blatant disregard, "Our Fed-Ex driver will just throw it in the Postal bin. He won't scan it as FedEx". I told her to please not let him do that and asked if she could show him the print out from the company from which I received the shipping label. She proceeded to tell me that "she would not tell him how to do his job". Wow....Horrible customer service, extremely unfriendly and incredibly unprofessional. Price point plus being closer to me than other businesses sealed the deal for me. Total page count was 121 pages for $10.22, roughly 8 cents a page. I love this place! After several glaring customer service fails at a number of FedEx Office locations in Austin, I was at a loss and at my wit's end. There aren't many places where you can address all of your business needs, i.e. copy/print/fax/ship/etc., without incurring enormous costs. PostNet allows for the use of a computer for an incredibly reasonable rate, as opposed to FedEx's charge per minute. Another bonus? They add your charges on to your total cost at checkout...goodbye, stupid FedEx card that runs out of money every 5 seconds! I've made the switch, and I won't be looking back. I went in once to get a single color page printed out on a high-quality printer. They charged me over 3$, because I brought the document on a flash drive as a high-quality PDF. Because their better printer wasn't available and the print quality was poor they took off the ridiculous 2$ "Computer Usage Fee", and that is the only reason I didn't give them only one star. I have a PostNet PO Box user since I opened my business several years ago. I choose them because they were convenient. Within weeks I was greeted by name by all of the staff anytime I came into the store. Then I extended my services to use their print services. The one time I has a question about how a color came out on my business cards, they reprinted them for me to make sure they got them right. Recently, I used them for design services on something that had a 24 hour turn around. They did it, communicated with me every step of the way and it cost less then the estimate. While I appreciate PostNet's convenience for me to drop off UPS / FedEx shipments, I was appalled by about how much this PostNet ripped me off for packaging (and wanting to ship) a large oversize package! This is a warning to anyone who wants to use their packaging and shipping services!! First off, I needed packaging for a large item. PostNet couldn't provide me an estimate ahead of time, but I needed to send it, so I had no choice. They called me after they finished - and the cost was $52 for the box, peanuts and their labor. This seems quite outrageous - especially considering that just a year ago, I had my bicycle disassembled, packed carefully in a box AND shipped to Utah by a local bike shop - all for $54 (both packaging AND shipping for that price). The box used at the PostNet was a little smaller than a bike box - and certainly there was nothing for PostNet to disassemble, so it was just a matter of wrapping things up and placing them in a big box! The second part infuriated me even more. I completely understand that PostNet and similar retail outlets charge a mark-up off the Fed EX & UPS rates, but this PostNet wanted to charge me what would have been a 6.7X markup!! When they called me back after the package had been assembled, they told me that the cost to ship it FedEx ground to Colorado would be $190. I asked for the box dimensions and the weight so I could see if I could find another alternative. It turns out the linear dimensions were just 1-2 inches longer than the maximum for USPS Parcel Post (so if it had been just a teeny bit shorter, I could have shipped it for less than $40 USPS). So I went to the FedEx website myself, figuring the least I could do was buy the label myself, to avoid the PostNet mark-up. The dimensions and weight reported to me yielded a shipping label quote of $114 ($105 after I signed up for a FedEx account and got a little discount). $105 is 55% of $190 - so that's a fairly big mark-up, but the story gets even worse... I went ahead purchased my shipping label on the FedEx website, brought the label to the PostNet and put it on the box myself. Once the package was picked up by FedEx, FedEx does their own weight & dimension check - and when I saw my credit card bill, it turns out that FedEx only charged me $28!!! Yes, $28 was the final cost to ship that package, while PostNet wanted to charge me $190!! I called FedEx to validate that this was indeed the final price - and they told me that PostNet had obviously inflated the dimensions and/or weight to me, but that $28 was all that it cost to ship this box from Austin to Colorado!! So - please all be warned - do NOT use this company for packaging and shipping! Go somewhere else, where they won't rip you off!! read more

PostNet marks up the shipping charges. For example, the UPS site said my package would cost $14 to send. PostNet charged $25. This was for a package that was already sealed, addressed, and ready to go. If you simply go across the street to the UPS Store, they charge the actual shipping cost. read more
