I am really glad to have participated. I do have to agree with the other review on the prices. They were a little on the up side for some of the booths...but there were barges to be had. And, as I found out, some were willing to negotiate. But in the end, it is the free market. If they are not finding buyers, they will lower their pricing expectations. --Down side alert--- So I must make my other comments though. They do charge 3$/person to go in. Of course they tell you it is a donation, but you are not getting in with out paying. So it is going to a good cause I am sure I hear you saying. Maybe, but it is also money you can no longer spend inside with the people selling their wares and crafts. And when you have to pay for a family of 4 or 5, it eats into the out flow. Lastly, this is a great venue and a wonderful opportunity to gussy up that side of Garden City. Rumor had it though that they are about to tear down the building and put up a new Walmart. Say it isn't so....!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It is bad enough that this state is not business friendly, but the businesses it is friendly to (or can afford to be friendly) are not really the ones we want.

All of the vendors had a similar "artsy/hippie vibe" which i loved. It felt like an event more for adults than many farms that make them loud and fun for kids. This was kid friendly, but def more zen and upscale. They also had beautiful animals that were friendly and roaming very happily. It was very peaceful. I purchased some amazing lavender candles too. Such a perfect September Saturday!

Escobar's Corn Maze is the place for you…read more My friends and I made the trek to the East Bay to partake on a picture perfect, blue sky day (the maze is generally closed when it's raining). Lots of available parking in a nearby field so I wouldn't recommend bringing your low rider here. There's a small shed where you can buy your entry tickets for the maze. The line was somewhat lengthy and they only accept cash on-site, so we opted to purchase our tickets online. That allowed us to quickly check in, grab a map, and find our way to the entrance. The maze itself was divided into two phases, so presumably, after finishing Phase 1, you could decide if you had it in you to traverse Phase 2. We passed many a tense moment among lost families arguing about which way to go so I imagine breaking this 8.5 acre maze into two helps keep people civil. The maze itself was well maintained. Couple narrow spots but for the most part, we could pass by others easily going every which direction. Numbered signs are posted throughout so if you do get lost, you have an idea if you're progressing. The maps are true maps so if you follow them closely, you can find your way to the exit easily. You could ditch the map too and truly lose yourself. We did get turned around at one point but what fun would it have been if we didn't get at least a little bit lost. At $10 per person, I thought it was a fair value for our time spent there. No kids in the group but there were some other available activities including leisurely hay rides, a cow train (that was bombing through the fields at breakneck speed), and a pumpkin patch. There were some snacks available at the ticket booth but nothing fall-themed (ex. bags of chips, cookies, etc). Reminded me of snacks available at a little league game. Port-a-potties available on site which was a welcome convenience.

The house is a blend of English Queen Anne, New England colonial and Oriental design. The name Shingle Style is due to the white cedar shingles that cover the exterior. The firm McKim, Mead and White influenced the work of Fran Lloyd Wright. The open floor plan is perfect for the current use to display art exhibits. This current exhibition, Pictus Porrectus, shows contemporary art based on classic paintings. Parking is available on site. No furniture is displayed in this historic Newport Mansion. A very unique property, but not as elaborate as the other Gilded Newport Mansions.

This was one of the smaller homes of the "Newport Mansions" in Rhode Island, but is one not to be…read moremissed. It was an architectural tour and it didn't contain most of the furnishings as most of them were sold off years ago. They chose not to buy period pieces though instead focused on many of the interesting features. For one, the outside roof is covered in wood shingles in all types of interesting designs which is why the style of the house is classified as shingle style architecture and is one of the few in the country. Because the owners traveled quite extensively, they incorporated many design details from France, Japan and China mostly, but also from other areas of the world. One that that surprised me is that the main floor has a fairly open floor plan with wasn't standard for that time period. This concept was borrowed from Japan. I had also not seen pocket windows before - they disappear into the walls completely to bring in lots of fresh air! Much of the wallpaper was custom designed for them. The designer also was very creative. He framed bed warmers and used them as a feature in the dining room. I now realize that if all the period pieces were in the house, it would almost overshadow all the design features of the house itself.

A lot of the trees were small, had large bare spot and just didn't have what you want for an $80 price tag. The process is easy and would be alot of fun if there were a lot of trees to choose from. Was really disappointed after settling for what we could find and getting it cut that all the best looking trees were precut and located where you go to pay for your cut tree. The amount of money paid makes me feel like I won't be doing this again. Trees at Lowe's looked better and were $35 cheaper. Wish it would have been worth it, Merry Christmas.

That's because it's on Prudence Island, another very cool place that few people bother to visit. Rossi Farm is located on Neck Farm Road, a dirt road that basically goes nowhere. Just up to the north part of the island and then stops. It's actually a great bike ride that has great views of the bay from all directions. Even in the summer you pretty much have the whole place to yourself. The farm has cows, chickens and goats and stinks like hell in the hot weather. Not really bad but like a farm is suppose to smell in hot weather I suppose. The farm has a stand on the west side of the road and every time we have been there nobody was around. Plenty of farm creatures checking us out but no people. The stand has different things according to the time of year and supply. Great corn, eggplant, squash, tomatoes and cukes are usually found and occasionally muffins and home made bread. A great treat to enjoy when on the island. Unfortunately no water or liquid so you better bring your own. The stand is strictly self serve and has a little box to place the money. The people living on the island take advantage of the fresh veggies and bread but few visitors know about it. So the next time or probably first time you visit Prudence Island, make sure you look for Rossi's Farm if you want some fresh produce. Just watch out for the cow and goat poop and the chickens trying to peck you on the legs and you will discover a very cool farm on a very cool and uncrowded island.

At the time, not as many flowers were in bloom as I had hoped to see, so much of the garden looked very green and it was sometimes tricky to tell if I had already walked through a section. That said, the scenery was still beautiful, and I can only imagine how stunning it must look when everything is fully bloomed. Sakonnet itself is such a unique place a secret garden carved into coastal fields, designed to feel like an intimate, winding cottage garden with paths that lead you to unexpected spaces. Knowing the history and the care that's gone into creating it over decades makes me appreciate it even more. I'd definitely love to come back later in the season to see it in full bloom

My friend and I made reservations for the first time entry time on Saturday, June 21, 2025. The website was easy to use to make the reservations. Since I drove us there, we chose the Garden Visit (Car, driver, and optional passengers) + 1 additional passenger option. The parking spot with driver is $25.00 and the additional passenger was $20.00. The other option is Garden Visit for walkers (foot) and bikers that is $20.00. Tickets are nonrefundable once purchased. We arrived a few minutes before 9:30am and parked in one of the numbered parking spots provided in the designated area adjacent to the garden. Then, we found the garden entrance and checked in with the staff member. The staff member instructed us where to start and then we started to explore the labyrinth of plants. There were so many plants, hedges, and a big meadow. It was really beautiful, but I wish there was a map or list of the different plants we were looking at. The red mughal pavilion was falling apart and blocked off. My friend and I spent about an hour exploring the garden. The weather was gorgeous, not a cloud in the sky. You can definitely tell the caretakers really take a good care of the lands. At the end before leaving to the parking lot, a friendly pony greeted us and there was a table of plants for sale.
