TK Maxx is the British equivalent of TJ Maxx in the United States. Like every other TJ or TK Maxx,…read moreyou have to have time to browse for hidden gems. On the day we went, the store wasn't very organized and the lines were long. However, if you're flying in and leave something, this is the place you go to find anything you may need while in London. I was a bit disappointed, as this seems like a nice area of town and I expected to see more high-end merchandise. This store has the same items as every other similar store in the US and the ones I've visited in other countries. The canned drinks near the registers are cheaper than restaurants and corner stores, so we got a few for our walk back to the hotel.

Having Winners being my favorite in Canada, I was elated to realize the company is in the UK also. So I did exactly what I do best and went into the shop to help settle into my new home. Did the most part, there's a huge selection of bathroom supplies. Literally 1/5th of the store. Shampoos, conditioners, body care, makeup. The whole nine. You'll surely find something. Clothing on the other hand is really a depressing thought. I've been here 4 times now and already I haven't found a single clothing article worth a second glare. Maybe is the pandemic that's cause everything to run dry, but it was quite a disappointing couple of experiences. The staff are super helpful and pretty much willing to accommodate any way they can. Some of the employees do have staring eyes (for some random reason. At least be sure to blink) But oh well.

Within the quite small shop they sell men and women's clothes and shoes. I pop in quite often to look for things, and whilst there is quite a high standard in terms of brands, in the men's clothes there isn't that much exciting stuff. So the clothes seem to be more traditional charity shop rather than retro fashionable. The shop is laid out well, the staff are really helpful, and, whilst the collection isn't the best, it is certainly a great cause.

Very well priced and though clothes are "pre-loved" they are typically in great shape, newer styles, etc. Brands range from Next, New Look, H&M, etc...and also good selection of vintage separated in the back. *Cards accepted, £5 minimum. *Fitting rooms provided. *Shoe selection is iffy at best. *great selection of blazers, working gals. Worth checking out if you are accessorizing on a budget or need to spruce up your look without crippling your bank! Oh, and it supports a charity. Can you say that about Forever21? Newp. P.S. They own the bins that collect clothes/shoes (black/green letters) -- there is one near the Shoreditch Firestation (And I'm sure a million other places) - a great way to donate, save the stuff from a landfill and help Traid fund programming, all without having to lug a big box somewhere. Pretty convenient. Wins all over the place.

Please know I was horribly jet lagged & tired I found myself going down Queensway Rd, and loved all the different shops and restaurants. The energy of all the people bustling by. I felt like the guy walking in the middle of a marathon. After deciding to pick up the pace, I came across Tesco. I walked in and thought, for my first night here, I'll get something light to eat instead of going to a restaurant. I loved the contrast of ready made "grab and go" food in comparison to what we offer in the U.S. Here there were pâté sandwiches, salmon choices, a rather inexpensive array of great cheese, produce, and sundries. I discovered an upgraded European version of Walmart. I mean that as a compliment in comparison! My dinner tonight was going to be: roasted tomatoes in olive oil and mozzarella, nice flatbread with tomato basil, kalamata & green olives with a nice wheel of Camembert cheese. Of course some American Budweiser beer and a side of José Cuervo! (Don't judge me - I'm not a fan of wine!) I would definitely recommend this place to anyone who is on the go and need last minute items. :)
